Chanel Suspicious Le Vernis / Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Suspicious Le Vernis / Nail Lacquer
Chanel Suspicious Le Vernis / Nail Lacquer ($26.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described simply as “fuchsia.” It’s a pinky-red–a little more red than raspberry red to me, though it seemed like it was going to be raspberry-colored based on the bottle. NARS Anardana is warmer, less red. MAC Toco Toucan is pinker. China Glaze Ahoy! is darker, more raspberry. Chanel April is dustier, less red. Butter London Blowing Raspberries is a smidgen darker, pinker. It’s a little summery, even though it’s new for fall.
The formula on this is insanely good! It’s thin without being watery or anything like that; just thin and extremely pigmented. One coat almost produces opaque results, but I did swatches with two coats just to be sure! The coverage is top notch, while it just applies so easily and beautifully–no pooling, bubbling, or streaking. It even has a semi-shiny finish when it dries down, though for anyone who loves a high-shine finish, I’d still opt for a top coat. I typically get a week of wear with Chanel’s formula; no chipping, just minor tip wear. Suspicious is not the most unique shade out of the three shades in the collection, but the quality is impressive.

omg i need it. going to nordies at lunch.
This is very pretty. I am loving these unique bright reds/pinks…I just wish it wasn’t $26!
looks like essie ole caliente
Suspicious, what a great name 🙂 Great color too, I like it alot.
That is totally up my alley for a summer pedicure color. I like hot pink, red, and anything in between!
I wish it were just a touch pinker–because I feel like it doesn’t warrant the $26 if it’s “just” a red….
Gorgeous, and it’s so nice to hear of amazing formula — but man, that price. 🙁 Going to go check out dupes that are more affordable, sadly.
While the color does seem sorta dupable, the quality of the polish in this swatch is quite sumptuous!
Ooh, it’s so lovely and juicy looking! Can’t afford it at that price, sadly, but it really is lovely.
For ladies from Europe – Catrice has a similar shade called “Raspberry Fields Forever” 🙂
It’s a beautiful colour, but doesn’t say Fall to me.. The lines are getting very very blurry this year between seasons, I have noted. Still, I seem to be someone who like extremes and tend to go either really light or really dark for nails in fall/winter and I’m looking forward to Frenzy and I just might succumb to Vertigo as well since I keep revisiting your review and quickly becoming obsessed.
@wwendalynne I’m thinking of those two, as well. This one just doesn’t cut it for me, since I don’t really care for brights to begin with (and although this one isn’t *too* bright, I feel I’ve been overwhelmed with seeing bright pinks everyday for the last few months).
@xamyx I hear ya.. I’m already hankering for darker eyeshadows and nails as I prefer a little more drama. I am very much over summer nail enamel myself. My toes are wearing Deborah Lippmann’s Mermaid something or other and my hairdresser commented on it and how lovely it is, and I muttered something under my breath about it looking like a pool liner. LoL.. and I really loved this uniqueness of this particular shade when I bought it, but it’s just not me. Too much going on. On the other hand, these two Chanel shades hit all the right notes!
Reminds me of Essie’s Queen of Hearts. Pretty colour, but it’s not unique enough to warrant the price tag. I like the idea of bright nails for fall though, especially if it were contrasted by wearing dark clothing.
This is such a pretty color. I love bright pinks like this. Do you think it compares at all to Dior Lucky? Would you have a bottle of the latter to compare with?
@elbee I don’t think I have Lucky! 🙁
That’s such a pretty pink for fall : )
I love to go with a bold color like this with my nails. I would wear this in the summer or fall. Price is out of my league for nail polish though 🙁
Hi Christine, great swatches. How do you think it compares to Dior Lucky (if you have it)?
I don’t think I have Lucky! 🙁
@Christine (Temptalia) Aw. Thanks anyhow. I’ll have to check this out at the counter as it looks awfully similar…not that that’s going to keep me from buying 😀
I just realized I have it on my toes right now, loving it!!!
@daniekilljoy Isn’t it like 5 o’clock there? Go back to bed. Haha. Jk.
Revlon Cherries in the Snow is the exact same color. Check it out.
@Judit1661 I would’ve though Cherries in the Snow would be a bit more red! I have the lipstick version and love it. I’ve managed to avoid buying the nail polish because I was trying to be “good,” but if it’s a dupe for Chanel them I’m going to go buy it…right now! lol.
@annedreshfield It is a def dupe, I have swatches of both side by side on my blog middle aged beauty queen dot word press. July 11 th post. Check it out, If you want. I have a page of Chanel/ Revlon dupes. Xoxo
@Judit1661 You have a great site! Thanks.
