Chanel Moon River Stylo Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Moon River Stylo Eyeshadow
Chanel Moon River Stylo Eyeshadow ($34.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as “platinum.” It’s a metallic taupe with a champagne sheen. Urban Decay Mushroom is grayer. Urban Decay Midnight Rodeo is browner and a powder. Urban Decay Rehab is browner. MAC Antique Diamond is grayer. Guerlain Callipgraphy #2 is slightly grayer and a powder product. bareMinerals Magnetism is a powder eyeshadow but close in color. See comparison swatches.
Moon River has semi-sheer to semi-opaque color, depending on if you layer it. It delivered a “shimmering veil” of color just as Chanel described. It’s kind of long-wearing in some aspects, as it didn’t fade or crease on me, but I did substantial fall out of shimmering sparkles underneath my eyes. The consistency was very wet-like, cool to the touch, and creamy, so it glided on well and applied even color as it slid across the lid. Though it feels wet when applied, it doesn’t slip or slide around on the lid. Mine arrived broken at the tip, but the other two I purchased were fine, and Chanel has always been great about makeup returns based on my experience.
Moon River
LELimited Edition. $34.00.

I love the color, but the fallout definitely makes me pass on it
Yikes, that much fall out huh? What a shame 🙁
I have this, and I don’t experience any fallout. I apply straight from the stick and blend in with my fingers by patting.
I’ve tested this for all day wear, and I’m in hot and humid DC, and had no issues with fallout or fading or creasing or anything. Some cream eyeshadows (like the Benefit ones) do fade or crease on me, just for reference.
I guess this, like nearly all other makeup and skincare products, it a bit “your mileage may vary.”
Me, too. I love this and have been fortunate that it doesn’t crease (with UDPP underneath) and no fall-out.
This seems to have been released in South Asia almost 2 months before the US release, because that is how long I have had it. While I have experienced no fall out, it did crease on my eyelids after 8 hrs of wear, both with and without a primer (MAC soft ochre paint pot). The color is lovely though — very, very wearable.
hi christine! could you please suggest a “crease color” and liner for moonriver? i’m very pale with blue eyes. i’ve heard gold trench eyeshadow by burberry (for crease)??? and chanel’s black stream for liner??? i’d very much appreciate it if you could please give me some suggestions. thankyou very much!! xo. p.s. i’d like a more understated look otherwise, i’d purchase the other stylo shadows.
p.s.s. i just tried this on…..it’s too subtle….i don’t see any color except for some stray glitter on the lids and around the eyes and, i’m pale. i applied this many times too, now it feels a bit heavy. is it because i have deep set eyes or i’m pale? i definitely need a crease color and liner. maybe i’ll return this….i guess i’ll have to buy a quad and liner if i’m going to keep this??
I’m very pale as well and it shows true to color. I wear an eye primer, swipe it a few times over my lid if I want to build up the color and slightly blend it out into the crease with a blending brush. Hope this helps! 🙂
I think Gold Trench would be too warm and light? I’d probably go for a smoky taupe as a crease color!
I love this stylo, it´s my favorite from the collection, very beautiful. I hope this become permanent since they are just great, and I really hope you get a replacement, I´m so sorry Moon River arrived broken for you 🙁 .
I love this shade! It’s a great everyday color for me.
It doesn’t stay on all day for me
I know it sounds superficial, but the appearance of this product really turns me off. I love the color, but I feel that Chanel prices should come with the Chanel aesthetic – meaning that the sloppy, roughly hewed bullet is not cutting it for me. 😛
I love the color and the texture but it disappears after 2 hours, it doesn’t crease but it doesn’t stay on the lid. i love chanel make up but this time i think they’re wrong!
I have this and love it! Had absolutely no problems with fall out. If you are interested in this shade, I suggest picking it up as fast as you can because my counter sold out last week! 😀
This is my absolute favorite product in recent releases. I did not experience any fallout or creasing. I’m probably going to buy a backup or two before it’s gone.
Honestly I’ve been wearing this constantly since I bought it and there’s no fall out on me. Maybe it’s your primer? I’m using Lorac Behind The Scenes. Anyway, I’m so in love with Moon River, I am planning on getting a back-up ASAP!
The color is definitely gorgeous but the fallout makes me cringe. It’s such a pity because I love the name of the product (Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of my favorite films of all time!) 🙂
I’ve been wearing this almost every day for a month now. I love it so much I bought a back up a few days ago – the last one my counter had in stock. I wear it over MAC’s Nubile paint pot and it lasts about 10 hours without any visible fading or creasing. I’ve gotten more compliments on this color than any other I wear. I use MAC’s Embark in the crease and a touch of Carbon in the corner for a great day to night look. I hope Chanel comes out with more like this.
I just bought this eyeshadow on Saturday and I absolutely love it! No fallout at all. However, when I tried the tester out I did notice the stick is really soft and can break, so I’ve been using mine with light touches. No need to push hard on the eyelid anyways, because the product glides on smoothly.
