Chanel Summer 2011: Mimosa Le Vernis

Chanel Mimosa Le Vernis ($25.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a bright, sunshine yellow with golden yellow shimmer. It applied fairly well–there was a touch of streakiness in the initial coat, but the pigmentation was excellent, because the color was nearly opaque on that first coat. I used two coats for even, opaque color coverage and found that worked best. The formula was on the thicker side, but it flowed well, and the drying time seemed faster than usual. I typically get a week of wear with Chanel’s polish using a base/top coat.

Eee I just ordered this! I would have just walked to the counter but people buy the stuff like crazy here in NYC so wanted to be sure I got it. I think it’s going to be FABULOUS!

I decided not to buy just yesterday and then you swatch it and make me want it^^
For once, I’m actually excited about the two other polishes (everybody is talking about mimosa), if they are not too sheere, they could be the perfect neutral/pink I’ve been looking for

Thank you for the swatches!

I have been looking for a good yellow for the last 3 summers. BUT 25 is too much. I will either go get the china glaze or Piggy Polish has a nice looking yellow too

I am wearing this right now (on my pinkie, will use it for a pedi this week). Walking back from class, all I could do was look at it. The shimmer in the sun is pretty cool.

I think I want Morning Rose, too. Eek!

Looks good on ya, Christine!

P.S. Did you take the tour of the MAC labs in Toronto with Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog? Looked like fun!!

Ack, I just splurged and ordered Beige Petale and Morning Rose but skipped Mimosa. Now I’m thinking I should have gotten Mimosa and skipped one of the other two… nooo!!

It’s not an ugly color, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t receive such a warm reception if it was from a lower-end brand like China Glaze, or even OPI. Cute, but not worth the money. It does look lovely on you though!

ran to Walgreens and bought Mellow Yellow for $2 by Sally Hansen Hard Nails and topped it with 1 coat of “Lets Meet” $2 by Sinful Colors nice combo

I love bright colors and love this yellow! I think I’m going to have to find a cheaper yellow to try first. I’m not sure how the color will work on me since my skin tone has very strong yellow undertones.

Maybe I got a lemon, but the first coat was definately not opaque and there’s obvious visible nail line after the second, would you suggest thicker coats?

Hey guys a pretty good dupe for this color is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in the color Mellow Yellow-super creamy formula, even application, and it’s abot $2!!

You can find an almost exact dupe in the new Top Speed line from Revlon. It’s the #305 Electric. The price? I paid $4 bucks. Plus, the Revlon formula is better than the Chanel one.
