Chanel Fracas Le Vernis / Nail Colour Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Fracas Le Vernis / Nail Colour
Chanel Fracas Le Vernis / Nail Colour ($26.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “vibrant pink.” It’s a brightened, reddened pink with warm undertones and a light dusting of golden shimmer. The shimmer is incredibly fine, though, and even under flash, I could hardly see it. Dior Pasteque is a bit brighter, no shimmer. NARS Anardana is pinker and has no shimmer. L’Oreal The Queen’s Might is redder. Illamasqua Collide is brighter and pinker, less red.
This shade was incredibly rich in pigment–it was very nearly opaque in a single coat, but I used two for swatches (I think two would still be best, unless you did a thicker single coat). Fracas was interesting, because it doesn’t look as bright and neon in natural light as it does in fuller/brighter light, so it is a bit of a chameleon. I wish the shimmer was more visible, because as is, it looks more like a cream than anything else. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and the color flowed beautifully across the nail without pooling, bubbling, or streaking. I usually see a week of wear with minor tip wear but no chipping with Chanel’s nail formula.

This looks like a brighter, livelier Dior Riviera (SS2012).
Do you think the two are anything alike, Christine? If not, how so?
I don’t think I have Riviera, but from photos, Riviera looks more orange without the pink!
Sooo dupable. I have a polish by Catrice called Meet You At Coral Island which is very similar. And it cost 3 euro 🙂
If you’d like to send me some Catrice holos I’d appreciate it! Since I can’t get Catrice in the U.S., guess we just have to pay for Chanel.
These colors are disappointing for Chanel. I usually expect to see some color innovation with them, especially for how pricey their polish is. But these spring colors are all so expected (really nude, pink, and red for spring? My mind is blown Chanel.) and dupable.
That nail polish color is disgusting! Ewww. Why would anyone want this shade?
Some of us like bright pinks 🙂 I’d wear this in a heartbeat.
Disgusting? Maybe not your taste, but not really a good description of that color. At least it’s not a yellowy-greenish brown diarrhea color. That’s what I would call “ewww”.
I don’t know it looks orange to me in these pics. I don’t like orange nails. Do they look orange to you or is it my monitor?
def looks pink on my screen
LOL at the other reactions to this polish!
Huh–people don’t seem to like this shade very much but I LOVE it! It’s beautiful! 😀
LOVE this pink! usually bored by pinks and reds but this is really cute
This is just gorgeous! Wonderful resort or summer color. Id wear this, in a couple months.
Peridot turned up on the website, a polish I’ve been loving for years so I finally put down Chanel money. Worth every cent! The quality is in a completely different league. After decades of spazzy looking polish I look fantastic!
i love this shade! does anyone know of other dupes for it. opi-ish, drugstore prices…
I love that color, but unfortunately I can’t afford to pay that much for a nail polish. Maybe someday…
What a beautiful color. Definitely, a must have 🙂
To me this color looks orange. It doesn’t look pink.
I read in a blog that Fracas is very similar to Anny colour no. 175 (sweet lipstick) so I give it a go. It’s the perfect dupe.
