Chanel Esquisse & Fiction Rouge Coco Stylos Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Esquisse (227)
Chanel Rouge Esquisse (227) Coco Stylo ($37.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink-coral with subtle, warm undertones and a smattering of very fine pearl. It had mostly opaque pigmentation with a very smooth, creamy, and slippery consistency that glided on easily and was extremly comfortable to wear. The more slippery consistency showed very slight “lines” when I pressed my lips together, and I noticed a bit of color in my deeper lip lines. The shinier finish distracted from the settling, though. This shade wore well for three and a half hours and was moisturizing.
The formula is supposed to offer the “intensity of a lipstick” with the “shine of a lipgloss” and “comfort of a lip balm.” The consistency of this formula was incredibly soft and melted against the lips, so it was easy to over-apply (and subsequently, easy to run through the product!) with an emollient quality found in lip balms. In general, color coverage was semi-opaque to opaque, with wear coming in at three to five hours, depending on the shade. The formula was comfortable to wear and very hydrating both during and after wear. The downside was that these types of twist-up lipsticks (in the slim casing) tend to contain noticeably less than a standard bullet lipstick (0.10 to 0.12 oz. usually!) and the more pliant formula made it easy to reapply and run it back and forth more than necessary (for the coverage). There was a light rose scent to the formula, subtler than the Rouge Allure lipsticks, though, with no discernible taste.

Fiction (222)
Chanel Fiction (222) Rouge Coco Stylo ($37.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a brighter, medium red with warm, orange undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had good pigmentation, though it was not opaque. The color went on evenly and smoothly without pulling into my lip lines or showing “lines” when I pressed my lips together. The texture was smooth, creamy, and quite emollient with a balm-like feel that was comfortable and hydrating. It wore well for four hours and left a very faint stain behind.

Fiction gets me thinking, a warm, medium red could work for me if I use a light touch (am so fair). But there are also good, and less costly, options among the dupes. This will be fun to explore.
You know, I don’t LOVE warm reds on me or even oranges (I don’t dislike them but I so rarely reach for one by choice, you know?), but there was something really pretty about Fiction on me that I liked a lot. I think possibly the shininess of it?
Wow, the pigment and shiny finish are so gorgeous!
The shiny finish almost makes it worth it for the shorter wear time, lol!
222 is STUNNING. It’s a beautiful, hot, summer shade! I would pair this with a golden, sheeny/shimmery bronzer. And mac woodwinked on the lids! 😀
It totally make me think of summer 😀
I am so tempted by both these colors!
They are beauties!
Love that these would have a balmy feel to them on the lips! It’s starting to get super dry and hot outside now, so something along those lines would be comfortable. But you know me; $37 for .07 just makes me squirm! So, probably a similar shade to Esquisse that dupes it for me, I think?
Oh, yeah, they are pricey, and I feel like they are a formula (so soft/balmy) that is easily finishable.
Esquisse!!!
You like? 😀
Love!
Fiction is just a beautiful shade of red…..
It is!
These are beautiful but I can’t justify the price tag!!! I do have a question for you. Would you be open to or interested In Reviewing milk makeup products? I really pay attention to all of your reviews and would love to see what you feel about the brand and products.
I totally understand – these are super expensive! 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey, what blush are you wearing? It’s so nice!
Bobbi Brown Santa Barbara Illuminating Bronzing Powder
Fiction was made for you. It looks gorgeous.
Aw, thank you Rachel!
Both are lovely!
