Chanel Cote d'Azur Summer Sneak Peek

Chanel’s Cote d’Azur Summer Collection definitely stirred up some beauty temptations when we first learned about it. I ended up with most of the collection, and you’ll definitely get a full review soon 🙂 I thought I’d break it up a bit, so you can at least get a sneak peek for now! My Nordstrom did have the summer collection on counter already, so I bet yours does, too — if you and Chanel are likethis, get your bum over to your local beauty counter!

Pictured above is the Iridescent Effects Eyes in Plein Soleil ($56.00), and it is an eyeshadow quad. It features four bronzy colors, ranging from coppery bronze to peach-bronze to medium bronze to deep, dark bronze. In-store, it swatched a little sketchy, but I was thinking that it might have just been because of the oil and gunk build-up from other customers swatching. However, the swatches included in this post are from the one I purchased, so it’s fresh and clean, and yet the colors didn’t quite swatch as smoothly as I would expect of Chanel. I’m definitely going to have to do a look or two with the quad to determine whether it will earn a spot in my beauty stash for keeps!

The next item I’d like to let you in on is Aqualumiere Gloss in Candy Glow ($27.00), which is part of Chanel’s normal Aqualumiere Gloss line-up, but it is repromoted with this launch. I’m not a huge glossimer fan (though I’m slowly warming up to them), but I adore the Aqualumiere Gloss formula. Talk about thick, non-sticky, pigmented goodness. Candy Glow is a pinky-coral with gold shimmer gloss that is so up my alley! I have the other three that came out with the launch, and they are equally as lovely, but I will tell you more next time 🙂

See swatches + Candy Glow…

i definitely think the gloss looks beautiful, but i am not sold on the e/s quad from the way the swatches look. christine, i am anxious to see what look you are able to create with these before i can make a sound decision on whether to purchase or not. that gloss though….mmmmmm….just looks so peachy & yummy.

Not hot on that quad….but that gloss ooooh….remind me that Rose Romance is coming out before I lose my self control!!
Palette wise I think I’ll go for the Dior Iridescent Quint instead.
Incidentally, which one would you recommend Christine?I heard Parisien Lights is really…light and virtually no colour payoff. I’m NC25.

parisian lights is a very nice palette, but all the colors are very soft. as being part of the iridescent 5-couleur series, they are more for the shimmer effect than the bold color. that being said you can easily add a medium/dark matte color to add definition to the palette very easily if you like more defined eyes (i like using their matte browns, be it a warm or cool undertone, but you can use anything really!).

I just picked this up yesterday along with the orange fizz polish. I didn’t think I would like the quad as much as I did, but I love the shimmer in the colors. I thought Candy glow looked familiar, I think it’s buried in one of my stashes. lol.

Thank you so much for the swatches! I was so ready to pull the trigger on the quad, but now I’m a little disappointed. I’m definitely interested in the looks you come up with!

This kind of reminds me of LORAC’s croc palette which is gorgeous. I can’t wait to see the swatch of this lipgloss. I’ve said I need to cool it on spending of makeup but I don’t think I have a gloss this color and it’s oh so gorgeous!

i have candy glow and love it!!
chanel’s aqualumiere has honestly become my HG lipgloss.
i have three so far (candy glow, freeze and bon bon) but will go on to buy more.

btw if you like aqualumiere, be sure to try ironic tonic. it’s a little too dark for my normal lipgloss colour range but from what i gather, you like a richer colour payoff and i feel ironic tonic will be your thing, maybe?

try getting a sponge applicator and wet it. Better payoff with chanel eyeshadows. They were designed to be light when dry and more intense wet.

Aqualumieres are awesome! I can’t wait for the review of the blush, I wanna make sure it’s gonna get some love.. I’m an NC30 I wanna know if it’s a good Coral Pink as described on the Chanel site. I didn’t do well with the original bronzers.. didn’t like the shades and looked unnatural on me.. so I’m curious as to how the LE one fares..

I was so intrigued by the quad til I found out it was bronzy. In some of the promo pictures it looked more plummy. Another lemming killed.

I saw this collection today, the one thing I had to have immediately was the Orange Fizz nail polish, but I am can’t stopthinking about the e/s quad & In Love blush *sigh* they are pretty, might need to go back& get them lol
