Chanel Camelia Le Vernis
Chanel Camelia Le Vernis ($28.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, raspberry pink with subtle, cooler undertones and a cream finish. Formula X A+ (P, $14.00) is cooler (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Indiscretion (04) (LE, $35.00) is lighter (95% similar). Christian Louboutin Beaute Bengali (PiP, $50.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Girl About Town (LE, $16.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (85% similar). L'Oreal Members Only (P, ) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Toco Toucan (LE, $16.00) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
This spring, Chanel reformulated their polish to be five-free and launched the formula in 15 shades, including some shades from the previous formula. I’ve only tried this one so far, so it’s hard to make any generalizations about the formula at this time. The consistency of this was slightly thinner than the average Chanel polish, but it applied well and didn’t pool along the edges. The one thing that I noticed was that the brush was larger and flared outwards than the previous brush (which was more squared off and thinner). It had opaque coverage with two coats, and even the first coat applied well without looking streaky. It wore well for seven days without chipping on me, but it had more tip wear than I normally experience with Chanel’s formula (no base or top coat).

I was curious to see how the new formula worked out. I just ordered the polish in Organdi the other day (haven’t received it yet). I actually considered this shade (Camelia) but I already have several polishes very similar in color. Thanks for your review!
No problem! Let me know how Organdi works for you. I have three others I’ll eventually test for wear, hopefully!
My review of Organdi is posted if you care to look: http://goo.gl/29ZtsB
I didn’t know they had reformulated., but I like the idea of a bigger brush, I usually prefer them over the smaller ones.
Yup! All new! 🙂
It’s a very pretty shade!
It is!
I love this color! It’s perfect for spring.
Oh, that’s a good call 🙂
Really pretty but I think I’ll opt for one of the cheaper dupes since even “luxury” brands don’t last on my fingernails, unless it’s with a professional manicure….my home application jobs just don’t last!
If they don’t wear longer, then I’m totally on your side – no need to splash out! Especially when the color is pretty dupable.
It’s so great that Chanel is 5 free now!!! 😀
Yay!
That is such a nice springtime-y shade of nail polish! Very fresh and cheery. I really like that more and more brands are broadening their brushes, because I feel that definitely helps with easier application. But if they are going to go 5-Free, they need to formulate it to wear just as well at this price point!
I agree. It’s bright and yet classy at the same time. I’m glad that they still maintained their essence while being 5-free.
I’m hearing nothing but positive things about the new formulas. I know it’s nitpick-y but why isn’t the shade name on the front of the package!
This is very pretty, but I think I’d try Formula X A+ to save some money, since nail polish usually only lasts a couple of days on me. Thanks for the dupes 🙂
Was the original formula not 5 free as well? I just thought this new formula was meant to increase wear.
I don’t remember, sorry!
