Chanel Bronze Corail Soleil Tan de Chanel Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Bronze Corail Soleil Tan de Chanel
Chanel Summer 2011: Bronze Corail
For summer, there are two variations of Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel ($50.00 for 0.49 oz.) — the first I’m reviewing is Bronze Corail (and I will review Bronze Rose later). It is a striped palette with four shades: a warm, medium-dark tan with subtle gold shimmer; warm beige with shimmery sheen; deeper tanned brown with a satin sheen with red undertones; and a pop of coral-pink with a subtle sheen. Swirled together, the resulting color is a sheer, soft bronze with a champagne sheen.
Chanel describes the product as, “Worn alone or blended together, they highlight or ‘tan’ skin for a subtle, natural glow.” It’s definitely a product that is hard to overdo, because it is sheer and soft–certainly subtle. It will be a nice bronzer for light to medium skin tones, but darker skin tones will find it more a highlighter than a bronzing product. The included brush does enable one to use the shades on an individual level better than your average blush brush (which is more useful to swirl and blend the shades together). You can use all four shades to add more pinkness to the cheeks, or you could use the top three for a more traditionally bronzy look. The softest shade is very much like a highlighter, so it, too, could be used on its own as such.
Though the powder is soft as silk and each shade is seemingly pigmented, I felt like once applied, it looked somewhat powdery on my cheeks. There is a fair amount of powdery dust within the compact after using a brush (whether the one included or something separate). Normally, I’m a big fan of the Soleil Tan de Chanel editions, because they can create more multidimensional looks from the different variations in color–you can go lighter, darker, pop of color all bronze–but the product could have laid down more naturally over the skin.
The good news, though, is it lasted all day long (12+ hours), and you get one brick of a bronzer (0.49 oz.) for your money. You won’t run out of this one anytime soon!

you are awesome Christine …
looking lovely as usual …. 😀 😀
again the lipstick combo as mentioned .. would love to grab along with this 😀 😀
Oh wow, this looks sooo pretty on you!
I have my eyes set on these bronzers. The 2009 bronzer was such a success that I still regret not buying it when I had the chance. So this year, I’m definitely going to get these bronzers no matter what!!
I love this product, but it is very expensive. I’m a NC 15 will this fit me? I am not very good with bronzer , is this product a product for me?
Yes, I think it would suit you!
Hi Sanne, I’m fair like you. When I tested both bronzer/blushes at the counter, the Bronze Rosé suited me better than the Bronze Corail which is shown in this review. I’d go to the counter if I were you or, at the very least, wait to see Christine’s review on the Bronze Rosé before making a decision.
I thought that the other color is more for me. But i am not sure of this is already avaible at my country. But i wait to see them in the stores after the other review.
LOVE IT! I want it! =) I wonder how much it would be in Australia…
I googled it, and I’m not sure, but I think it might be $85. xP
This doesn’t look like a bronzer at all on you–you just look like you’re glowing! It looks so pretty on your cheeks. It doesn’t look like you’re wearing makeup at all!
Why dont they just make a blush of the last strip of coral in a larger size…I know I’d get that! 🙂
Wow! Looks so great on you! <3
This is the product released in this collection that I'd wanted to see its swatch the most – and it looks better than I expected!
Thank you for the swatch!
I like very deep bronzers rather than subtle ones. I feel like darker bronzers, like NARS Casino, get more use out of them. I can adjust how much color I want depending on the brush and the pressure I use.
Did you wear it all blended together and would a MAC 165 be able to pick up individual colors?
This is blended together, and you could kind of – but you’d have to be careful to just use the tip. The included brush is totally usable and more suited for individual application!
Am I the only one who thinks, once applied, it looks similar to Balm’s “hot momma”?!
Nah, Hot Mama is waaaaaay more pigmented, has more noticeable gold shimmer and I think it’s more pink/coral than this.
Both are pretty though!
I was waiting for the reviews on this one. If it is more for lighter skin I guess I should find another product. Does Soleil de Tan tend to be powdery on the face?
In the past no, but I felt with these, somewhat – not TERRIBLY powdery but a little and enough that I was like, “Hm, this is kind of powdery.”
Looks very pretty! I have the Rose Bronze and didn’t experience any issues with it being powdery.
Absolutely gorgeous!
the coral part of it looks gorgeous, might look for a blusher in that shade.
i do not like it at all! it is tooooo shimmery and i don’t like that they added a coral color to it! PASS!
I agree with you on these Christine…they aren’t the most natural on the skin. I was disappointed because I really LOVE coral!!
Also- you accidentally left the glossimmer heading for this!
I actually really like this one you, so pretty 🙂
I was wondering if that pink shade would be too much but it looks gorgeous and not too bright on! Awesome for summer!! I just wish it were a little less expensive =(
This looks so pretty on you! It’s a beautiful glow. I’m waiting for the review of the rose version before purchasing. I didn’t think I would like the coral version, but it’s very nice. Parabens means I will have to save this until after my baby is born to use it. I can’t tell you enough how awesome you are for including pictures of the ingredients on the box. Thank you!
Hi Christine, how is it different from Dior Harmonie de Blush in Coral Riviera? Thanks.
This is dirtier, less pigmented, less coral.
Hey Christine, I would like to know if the Bronze Corail is maybe similar to the Bobby Brown Shimmerbrick in Nectar?
Not at all!
I loved the colours and I swatched them at the store, once at home I realized that the darker tone is like nars laguna, the medium like nars irresistiblement and the blush is similar to nars amour… I think I can dupe it with the nars products I already own ( I am nars addict :)).
Are you sure about the over-doing the bronze thing? Because I bought this one and its super dark on me, i’m NW15. I bought the coral one as I thought it was more on trend and summery 🙂 I’m wishing i’d bought the other one now though…
I can only review based on my experience – as you can see in the swatch, it’s not dark at all. My forearm is NC20.
