I like trios or quads, and I like when brands release a few so that they can address the needs of different skin tones. Otherwise, I prefer that they are in the same vein — e.g. all cool or warm-toned shades.

I can go two ways on lip sets — I want variety (different colors/finishes) or themed, e.g. berries or reds or pinks. There should be enough product in each shade that the product remains functional (I’m thinking of how mini lipsticks can sometimes break at the base). The value should be there,...
I like them when they’re versatile and not too mega in size — like 5-10 shades with a good variety in color. If they’re too large or have too much overlap within them, they get overwhelming.
