A Little Pout for Your Trout

Butter London Trout Pout Nail Lacquer ($15.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “opaque cantaloupe.” It is a pale coral cream with a faint hint of pink. China Glaze Pink Plumeria is darker, pinker. MAC Razzledazzler is more orange/peach. Essie Haute as Hello is very comparable, as is Essie Tart Deco.

After two coats, the color is fully opaque.  It has a slightly thicker consistency, but I did not have any problems with the polish pooling along the edges or bubbling.  The first coat was somewhat streaky, but a second coat completely hid the initial coat and didn’t look streaky at all.  I noticed the drying time was a little longer than average, and the second coat will drag and pull at the first coat if you don’t let it dry first (some formulas/shades are more forgiving in that aspect).  I typically get a full seven days of wear out of Butter London’s formula with little tip wear but no chipping.

I got this last summer and it was one of those colors that made me go “oooooh” and the finish was actually brighter than the bottle. However i had the same problems with the streaky-ness and the drying time took ages for me!

great color! I feel like colors like this (melon pinks) are never the same from the bottle to your nails, though. I have a few colors like this and the 2nd coat always takes it to a very different place than the bottle.

This looks a lot more melon pink in your photos than it looked to me in person. In person it seems a bit more like a salmon-color. Unfortunately I parted with my bottle because the warm color looked horrible with my pale skin tone — jaundiced yellow joints, ugh!

I really liked this color 8 months ago when I got it at Ulta along with the matching lip gloss. It looked nice when I was tan & the name ‘Trout Pout’ was too cute to pass up. I found it too gloppy & smelly, therefore not worth the price.
