butter LONDON Pillar Box Red Nail Lacquer ($14.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a cherry red with a decadent cream finish.  It’s nearly pigmented enough to use only one coat, though I swatched with two.  This is only a slightly pink-based red but it’s much closer to a true red than blue or orange-based.  Though I’ve never seen a pillar box in real life, as far as I can tell, this seems quite similar in color!

my thoughts on the formula: This cream finished polish has such a smooth, maneuverable formula–nicely pigmented (needed only two coats) and applies beautifully without bubbling or streaking. It wore for a full seven days without chipping.  The formula was thin without being watery and made for really easy application.

Thank you so much for reviewing this shade!! I’ve been looking up reviews for this yesterday and couldn’t find one. This, of course, is nicely done.

The polishes they make are mostly really, really nice. But those caps!! Awful to deal with. I always put the polish in another bottle, that’s how much trouble they are for me to use. ;o)

I don’t find the caps to be that much of a problem. I remove the square one before I even lay down a base coat.
Not to sound rude, but you do know that if you pull straight up on the square cap it’ll reveal a normal shaped one underneath, right?

I love butter london. I wish I had the funds to buy all of their colors. I currently use their nail foundation base coat and all my essie nail polishes stay chip free for 8 days. I wore essie without the base coat and there’s already some tip wear after ~4 days. I love love love the base coat!
