Burberry Pink Apricot (301) Lip Velvet Review, Photos, Swatches

Burberry Pink Apricot (301) Lip Velvet ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is peachy coral with the barest pink tinge. The finish is a satiny-matte–a matte with a soft, natural sheen. MAC Jazzed has a higher sheen, less pink. MAC In a Heartbeat is very comparable in color but it has a glossier finish. MAC Reel Sexy is pinker, coral. YSL Peach Passion has more of a sheen.

Burberry’s new Lip Velvet formula is supposed to be long-wearing and have a velvet-matte finish, while feeling both comfortable and hydrating to wear. The color is described as “dense and luminous.” The packaging has a matte finish instead of the glossy cases of the brand’s regular lipstick range. It has a magnetic enclosure and comes in a square tube.  It has a sweet, almost fruity, scent but no discernible taste.

It’s creamy, glides on easily, and feels like it has a fair amount of silicone in it (it just has that smooth glide of silicone).  Pink Apricot goes on with full color coverage and wore well for six and a half hours.  During and post-wear, it was not drying.  It was lightly hydrating overall, and I don’t need to reach for lip balm after wearing this for eight hours.  Despite its creaminess, it’s lightweight and has a thin consistency–not thick or movable really.  There’s a very subtle cling but not the kind that you really feel, just the kind where you know your lipstick won’t be migrating everywhere.

Wow, sounds like a really innovative formula! I do hesitate on matte-ish lipsticks sometimes because of the heavy and drying qualities, but it sounds like this totally bypasses those. I like the subtle, natural sheen it left on your lips, Christine. Way to go, Burberry!

I have the Burberry Velvet in ” Military Red ” gorgeous red, very good texture and it’s really long-wearing. I love it, to me it’s one of the best liptstick ever ( if you need a matte lipstick )

This kind of launches makes me happy. It’s just too sad that Burberry Beauty isn’t being sold in Belgium and hey, I can’t always afford a trip to Paris.

We don’t get Burberry in Manila either. We do get Laura Mercier – try the Creme Smooth Lip Colour line. I have two – creme coral and pink dusk. I think it’s a good hybrid – a matte and creme. Wear time is decent too!

I have this lipstick formula in 3 colours with Military Red being my personal fav and I do have Pink Apricot as well, but warmer colours always suit you better than me, Christine 😛 The other day, I picked up yet another, Pink Azalea, because I’m so impressed by this formula… at least on par with my beloved Tom Ford. Maybe better, but TF has a much broader colour range.

i want to splurge on a high end lipstick and i’m torn between burberry lip velvet in bright poppy and guerlain G Gigolo…Do you think that those beat Rouge Gs?Is the glossy finish a bit dated?i have a feeling that mattes are taking over!!What a dilemma!

I’m the type of person who wouldn’t spend this amount of money on a lipstick unless it was a go-to color that I could wear to work daily or dress up. This definitely fits the bill. It looks beautiful!

This is what the perfect “nude” looks like to me. LoVe it! Will you be swatching the colour from the promo photo?
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Yay! I was hoping you would do a review on these! I bought no. 307 recently and it has already become my HG lipstick. A matte formula that doesn’t dry your lips. That’s a win-win in my book.
And now it got your stamp of approval? You know what that means: I need to get me some more of these. Actually I was just looking for an excuse to splurge some more, but that will do 😉

As much as I love the look of matte lipsticks and this one in particular I have yet to find one that doesn’t dry my lips. My lips are so dry even the most moisturising lipsticks everyone raves about won’t work. The only ones that don’t seem to dry my lips so far are the Dior Addict lipsticks. I haven’t tried anything from Burberry yet thought. Are they comparable to the Dior ones?

Monica Avatar

haha, that’s funny because I loved Rouge Allure Velvet, I did test wore the Burberry one for a day, they are definitely not as hydrated as the Chanel one, also to mention, I’m always dehydrated, for me, I think the Chanel one is definitely better, hope this helps 🙂

maybe you should also try Saks 😉 I bought one of them already haha at the Yonge/Bloor HR..they’re great, you should definitely check it out 😀

I am in love with their makeup line, I bought Primrose Hill Pink back in late spring and I loved it so much I wore it for my graduation! I’m planning to get more lipsticks, their texture is divine and they last and last without drying the lips. Christine, will you be reviewing their mascara? I’ve heard lovely things about it!

I have four of these – Peony Rose, Rose Pink, Redwood, and PInk Azalea, and I love them all. They’re so comfortable and the color is great. I’m so happy this got an A+! I don’t have Pink Apricot but now I think I want it.

Wow Christine thanks for Pink Apricot and Pink Amber, straight ahead went to order them from my trustee ebay seller for Burberry (they’re ridiculously expensive on shipping from the official Burberry site in my country, and impossible to get on a counter).

I own many of the Lip Cover lipsticks already. They are amazing! My favourites are the limited edition Sepia Pink (not to be confused with the permanent Sepia) and one that is either called Light Plum or Heather Plum. They are so gorgeous!! Cannot wait to see these mattes in person. I would love if you could show Antique Pink, Christine! I am super curious for this one.

Hi Christine. How does this compare to the Bobbi Brown Uber Beige? They look similar to me and I’d really like to get one of them. Thanks for all you do!

You look so pretty in this picture! This is your perfect nude lip, in my opinion. It looks so great with your skin tone. You should keep this one very close to you!
