Burberry Oxblood & Gold Lip Mist Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Burberry Oxblood No. 214 Lip Mist
Burberry Oxblood No. 214 Lip Mist ($33.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddish berry with subtle, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage–a lot more than the “subtle hint of color” described (though they allude to more buildable color, as they give a tip to apply “twice for stronger colour”), which may be a happy problem for some to have. It lasted for four and a half hours and was nicely hydrating. This shade is also available in the permanent range, just in regular packaging. NARS Vera (P, $32.00) is cooler-toned. NARS Audrey (P, $32.00) is similar. YSL Exquisite Plum (22) (P, $34.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Burberry Gold No. 217 Lip Mist ($33.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a light, subtly warm-toned beige with faint gold shimmer and a glossy shine. It had semi-sheer color coverage; the base color gave my lips a lighter, more beige-hue with some shimmer. The color pulled into lip lines shortly after applying, and it worsened as it wore. The color only wore well for two and a half hours. It was comfortable to wear during that time, though. Tom Ford Beauty Solar Gold (LE, $49.00) is less glossy. MAC Altered Beige (LE, $16.00) is less glossy. Guerlain Sous Le Vent (P, $35.00) is less golden. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Oxblood is pretty. I love that it’s not too bright or too dark. It’s nice to have some variety this time of year!
Glad you’re digging it, Keri! I like the more muted quality of Oxblood.
That’s the word, “muted,” and so love when vivids can look moist yet not so loud! Beautiful! I may have to.. How’s the moisture and thickness? 🙂
Aww 🙁 a They look so messy! I really liked the colors, too! Bummer.
That’s too bad!
Well I am really loving Oxblood now I can see it well! The other reminds me of a glazed doughnut for some reason. I’ve never tried Burberry beauty products. They seem to be doing well! 🙂
If Oxblood was a true red, I would pick it up in a heartbeat. Maybe they should’ve named it Berry, instead? When I first saw the promo pictures of this Winter Glow collection, my jaw hit the keyboard -all the rich reds and champagne golds, my fave colors. I’ve never owned Burberry before, and I was ready to spend megabucks on this collection, but so far, not finding anything I can justify buying. Still holding out hope for the Glow Fluid, hope it’s not scented like the powder.
Ooh, that is such a bummer, Katherine! 🙁
Now this is an Oxblood that I like 🙂 Very pretty! And I love that it’s not too dark or vampy.
Awesome to hear 😀
Oxblood looks like a vampy strawberry pink on my monitor. I like that!
I can totally see what you mean!
To me, the red is pretty, but not really an Oxblood. Shame about the Gold. For that kind of money, it should be an A. It looks like it’s definitely a layering lipstick.
The problem with those layering lipsticks is often that they don’t perform well on their own – shorter wear and so forth 🙁
I like the muted quality of oxblood, and dislike the sound of worsening lipline settling! I know you must be reeling in shock from those two observations coming from me, LOL! 😀 at least the gold one isn’t one of those streaky, dry metallic types (although it isn’t terribly ‘holiday’ either, as golds go.)
Count me totally flabbergasted! No way! You and lip settling don’t get along? Hmmm… 😉
if oxblood was a lot more intense and the texture was less wet, i’d get it in a heartbeat! the color in the tube is such a tease!
I wonder if they have Oxblood in their regular formula…
Yes they do have Oxblood in the regular formula. I bought it last year when they did a small collection of Oxbloods, around autumn time I think and there were like five products called Oxblood! Haha, I bought them all. There was the nail polish, Lip Cover lipstick, Lip Mist, Lip Glow (gloss), and a multi-purpose pencil that could be used as eyeliner, lipliner, whatever you wanted really. Hope that was helpful.
I wish they had done a lip velvet and blusher too though. There are NO oxblood coloured blushers, at least, not without a dirty tone.
I grabbed the Oxblood as soon as I saw it on the website. I’m a total sucker for red lipstick and limited edition packaging. No competition!
Has yours arrived yet, Martha?
Oxblood is beautiful. I really love how it looks on you!
Thanks, Fancie! 🙂
I really like the Oxblood! The semi-opaque color coverage is what I want and the shade is about as dark as I go. I think I’ll get this. Thanks! It looks beautiful on you.
No problem, Valerie! 🙂 Enjoy!
Glad I waited on getting Gold – it’s nice but nothing I expected. I wanted a little more oomph to it. Oxblood is gorgeous, though!
The Oxblood Lip Mist is probably my favorite from this release — And it’s available permanently anyway, so yay! 😀
Oxblood is pretty, but with a name like that I was really hoping for a gorgeous dark blood red.
Love that Oxblood colour and I would wear the gold over it. The only problem I have had with Burberry’s lipsticks is that they break easily – and I don’t keep them in my handbag. Just at home in my bathroom, which is cool.
Oxblood is so gorgeous..I often stay away from reds but this looks like a good variation..love that its not in your face kind of color..
I really like how both look on you, if you use the Gold over Oxblood does it still sit in lip lines?
I think it would still do so, but I haven’t tried it.
Yes! Just what I need- a bit brighter & not as vampy as most of my other recent buys. Pretty on you Christine. Pass on the gold tho
I’m strangle creeped out but the name for Oxblood. lol The texture of the shade almost looks gel like, really pretty.
That gold is SO Pretty. I don’t know why, but it looks gorgeous on your lips! Wishlist!
Hi Christine! I love the color of Oxblood, but can’t do that price tag. Can you suggest any dupes that are more mid-range (like MAC) or even drugstore? Thanks a bunch!
Sorry, Kathryn, I already listed all the dupes I could think of in the post – I don’t limit dupes by price or anything, I go through and list everything I can.
Oxblood is NOT oxblood! D:
Oxblood looks like it would feel nice even on dry lips. cool. the other one is so bad :/
looks bad* at least it’s hydrating, too, tho not pretty.
