Bobbi Brown Tortoise Shell Collection for Fall 2011

Bobbi Brown Tortoise Shell Collection for Fall 2011

Bold glasses are as much a fashion staple as they are a personal statement. Now revered as a stylish accessory, a great pair of frames is a must have (and a great go-to on bad beauty days). Bobbi chooses between her iconic black frames and a pair of tortoise shell frames – ones which served as the inspiration behind her new Tortoise Shell Collection for fall. The Tortoise Shell Collection is Bobbi’s modern take on a classic look.

Stunning shadows in shades ranging from bronze to gold to espresso are housed in gorgeous tortoise shell compacts with gold detailing; one is for lighter skin and the other for darker complexions. To balance the warmer tones on the eyes, cheeks and lips are dressed up in soft nudes. And the good news is that if you do wear glasses, Bobbi designed the collection to complement—rather than compete with—your frames.

No doubt it will get compared to the naked palette but I actually think it looks far more high end and the shades all look very wearable. Can’t wait to see some swatches of this in the future 🙂

Oh wow! I never usually get drawn in for Bobbi Brown palettes but the Bronze palette is gorgeous and the colours are so me! I hope the pigmentation is good because I think I would prefer this over my UD Naked palette which I use so much. As I was scrolling down I saw the top palette and thought it was pretty and I might get it then I saw the second one and just went WOW! The lip colour the model is wearing is great too, will definitely have to check these out. I love the casing for the palettes too, so sophisticated, it looks like dark varnished wood. And a mini brush set! Will have to look at them too as I think Bobbi’s brushes are very good.

If you like the colors, one of these would be a great introduction to BB. Each palette contains a light, all-over base color and a dark liner color. The rest of the shades can be used alone or layered to create the color effect that you want.

I think the darker palette will be the star of the collection even for those of us with fair complexions.

This collection looks like it’s too warm for me :(.

On a side note, the model’s hair color is pretty much an exact copy of mine, highlights, shading, everything (although mine is all natural, not sure about hers). It’s rare for me to see such a close match. I wish her skin tone would have been as good a match as well, then I could have had a better idea about how the makeup would look on me!

I really love both of those eyeshadow palettes but they are pricey! Good think I DON’T live near a retailer for Bobbi Brown or I’d be SOOO tempted (and I have to save my makeup budget this time for Jealousy Wakes and Hocus Pocus, which are much more affordable!)

I am a sucker for Bobbi Brown and this collection is gorgeous per usual, but, the palette looks VERY similar to the day to night warm palette from around Christmas of last year. The packaging alone makes me love it so I will be checking it out regardless. I just wish BB would put out an affordable palette with more colors in it.

So much love for the tortoiseshell compacts. A couple of weeks ago I bought a pair of bold tortoiseshell frames myself :P. The first palette pictured kind of reminds me of LORAC’s Snake Charmer palette, which I have already. No temptation here, whew!

Ah I got a pair of tortoise shell Chanel glasses for my bday but I find it very difficult to pull off any sort of makeupwhile wearing glasses so back to the store they go for low end ones so I can atleast take my dogs out at night lol

Lovely – I have a pair of tortoise shelled glasses as well. I have always been a fan of the thick, plastic frames. It makes me feel like a naughty librarian!

I’ll have to check out this palette!

The model somewhat resembles Rosie Huntington-Whiteley but I doubt it’s actually her because I imagine she’s under exclusive contract with Victoria’s Secret.

I like the look of tortoiseshell, but using it for makeup containers always, always reminds me of the old school Covergirl powder compacts!

OMG WANT THIS ENTIRE COLLECTION!!!! D: hopefully the eyeshadow palettes will end up in the cco cuz $60 a pop is too much for my budget 😛

I like the med / dk one best because it has 4 sparkle / metallic shadows. The other one has only 3 and a shimmer. The next collection after this one– Marakesh, I think its called— looks even more amazing.

Even though I have enough brown/neutral eyeshadows to last me till I die, I think one of those eyeshadow palettes will be my second BB purchase! XD

honestly speaking bobbi brown eyeshadows have never been my favourite..i dunno why…mac and urbandecay are soo much better interms of eyeshadows…but i do love bobbi brown lipsticks and cant wait to see what they’ve got for me this time 🙂

Nice collection. Prices tend to be really expensive, year after year…
I’ll wait for more comments from users before buying.
