Bobbi Brown Taupe Sparkle Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Bobbi Brown Taupe Sparkle Eyeshadow
Bobbi Brown Taupe Sparkle Eyeshadow ($28.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a yellowy, medium-dark brown with a dirty champagne sparkle/shimmer. I don’t quite see taupe–I think it’s too warm-toned, too golden and brown to be a true taupe. It’s yellower than Bobbi Brown Cement. Too Faced Cinnamon Sugar is browner. MAC Cactus Thorn is similar in color but has a more pearled finish. Dior Golden Savannah #1 is darker and has a satin finish. Urban Decay Suspect is browner and darker.
I like Bobbi Brown’s Sparkle formula, because it doesn’t have as much fall out as other sparkly eyeshadows, though it is not immune to it. Taupe has minor fall out where there are some detectable stray sparkles underneath the lid, but not enough that the person standing next to you would ask, “What’s that on your face?” The texture is smooth and almost feels wet to the touch, but it glides on well and the sparkles bind and adhere with the underlying color. It has good color payoff, and it wore for eight hours with minor fall out but no fading or creasing.

Taupe???? What were they thinking naming this?
Isn’t it interesting how there seems to be no consensus in the beauty/fashion world on what “taupe” actually is?
I have this as well as the really gorgeous black chocolate shade and I wear them occasionally because they are so very pretty, but yup, I’ve experienced the same fallout issues which prevents me from using them more often. Something about fallout just cheapens a whole look IMO, but these are not nearly as bad as many others.
O.T.: I think cement is BBrown’s perfect taupe.. 🙂
One day we will get the perfect sparkly eyeshadow with NO fall out (and without the need for special bases!).
Sonia Kashuk has shadows comparable to these, and I’ve experienced next to zero fallout. I don’t even use a primer/base most times, unless I want more intense pigmentation, although I usually like them sheerer. I use a flat shadow brush, though.
This looks more bronze than taupe, but I still like the shade.
I’m not a huge taupe fan, and usually stay away from them but even I wouldn’t consider this taupe. It is really pretty though, but it’s a shame that there is a little fallout. I think it’d be worth a look!
It seems to leave a really nice glow on the skin, I’d be interested to try it out!
I’m a big fan of sparkly browns, and this looks like a great one.
Glad to hear it was crease free also!
Wait, when did BB single eyeshadows get to be $28??
