Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Color Review, Photos, Swatches
Bobbi Brown Raspberry Shimmer (1) Lip Color
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Color ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a newly released finish (I believe it is a re-release) that features “light-reflecting pearls” and “multidimensional color.” The formula is supposed to be a “soft, buttery feel” and be hydrating. The press release also mentioned that it would leave a “thin veil of light-reflecting color that lasts for hours without feathering or drying.”
The one thing that I wouldn’t call these is sheer–the coverage is more semi-opaque where there’s quite a bit of color but some translucency that allows the natural lip color to come through slightly. They have fine sparkle and shimmer that catch and reflect light, and the sparkle only is just barely noticeable after two and a half hours of wear but never feels truly gritty. The texture as the lipstick goes on is slick, emollient, and it glides on easily. On average, the formula lasted three hours on me, and it was lightly hydrating. I didn’t notice any scent or taste.
Raspberry Shimmer (1) Lip Color ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “bright pink berry.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark pink with gold and pink sparkle and shimmer. It is slightly cool-toned, had semi-opaque color coverage, and lasted for three hours on me. Chanel Melodieuse (136) (P, $34.00) is brighter, warmer. Too Faced Bon Bon (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter. Tarte Tulip (P, $16.00) is more muted, warmer, lighter. Guerlain Madame Reve (862) (LE, $49.50) is darker, less shimmery. Guerlain Giulette (P, $49.50) is brighter, warmer. MAC Love Beam (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, less glossy. See comparison swatches.
Plum Shimmer (3) Lip Color ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “plum raspberry.” It’s a muted, medium-dark plum with warm, reddish undertones and fuchsia, teal, and white sparkle and shimmer. It had mostly opaque color coverage with all-over translucency that let some of the natural lip color come through. This shade wore well for three and a half hours. Too Faced Pink Chocolate (P, $21.00) is brighter, less sparkly. Chanel Grace (P, $34.00) is less glossy, browner. MAC One of a Kind (LE, $16.00) is darker, less sparkly. MAC Glamourdaze (LE, $16.00) is more plum, less warm-toned, less shimmery. Chanel Bel Ami (P, $34.00) is slightly cooler-toned. Chanel Etole (P, $34.00) is less sparkll. See comparison swatches.
Twilight Shimmer (6) Lip Color ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “deep plum.” It’s a dark, subtly warm-toned brown threaded with a hint of plum and gold, copper, and fuchsia shimmer and sparkle. It had semi-sheer color coverage–it seemed less pigmented and did not apply as evenly as the other two either, but this shade felt more multidimensional than the others. Chanel Ambigue (124) (LE, $34.00) is less glossy, less brown. MAC Viva Glam VI (P, $16.00) is less warm-toned, less glossy. Guerlain Chant d’Aromes (P, $35.00) is similar but less dimensional. See comparison swatches.

These have too much shimmer for me.
That’s too bad!
Plum Shimmer is gorgeous!
I like the multi-colored sparkle!
Raspberry Shimmer is such a pretty shade!
It is a nice, easy to wear shade!
Raspberry Shimmer is so pretty!
Glad to hear you enjoyed that shade, Jane!
These are pretty, but I´m not in love…..I would prefer to spend those bucks on a High Shimmer Lip Gloss!
Haha! I hear that 😉
I have Plum—it’s fantastic. Berry is my next purchase. I prefer it to Raspberry, which has more gold. Thanks, Christine.
Happy to hear you’re lovin’ them, Nina!
Shimmer! Not up my alley, but some of the colours themselves are nice.
I love how sparkly these are, lol!
I like the Raspberry and Plum Shimmers! They look so pretty on you, and they remind me of the look of my all time fave Revlon Lip Butter, Peach Parfait! (In finish, I mean). 🙂
I can see how they remind you of Lip Butters!
I’m loving twilight shimmer!
It’s so pretty!
Oh my Gaaahd. Twilight Shimmer is too gorgeous!
I know!!
Plum Shimmer is the prettiest in the tube, but the swatch is kind of disappointing. However, Twilight Shimmer looks far too warm in the tube, but the swatch looks wearable! Raspberry Shimmer is just too “pink” for me, but it looks amazing on you, Christine.
Thanks, Amy! I think Twilight Shimmer is really lovely – interesting and fun.
Raspberry Shimmer is lovely! I see Twilight Shimmer working beautifully on duskier complexions.
Twilight Shimmer is really special – love the way it sparkles.
What foundation do you wear? Your skin looks flawless.
Right now, Guerlain Parure de Lumiere!
I really like these.
Which is your fave, Liz?
Prior to your reading your review, I was close to ordering the Plum or Twilight, but after seeing the swatches I might try the Raspberry instead. (Fair, cool, complexion & blonde hair) It’s a 2 hour drive to the closest BB counter, so I frequently order without seeing/testing the products in person. Your swatches reduce the guesswork! Thank you!
I think Raspberry would work well for you, Bonnie! 🙂 Happy to help!
Hi Christine,
I kind of like the new Bobbi Brown shimmer lip colors! Bobbi’s colors are so understated to begin with — it’s nice to see a little sparkle to add interest. Love Raspberry on you here 🙂
Thank you, Dovey! I think the sparkle she used is nice – multi-dimensional!
Raspberry Shimmer is really beautiful!
Also, this is off-topic, but because of reading Temptalia, I have started LOVING the word “emollient.” As my third grade teacher would say, “It’s a One Hundred Dollar Word!”
Haha! Love it – I’m going to use that, “One Hundred Dollar Word!”
Plum and Raspberry are so pretty on you!
Thank you, Fancie!
Love, love, love Twilight shimmer on you! Don’t think it would necessarily suit me but that shade is great on you.
Thank you, Tabitha!
I love shimmer, but these are so much sheerer than I expected! I’ll have to try them for myself, but based on these swatches they are not opaque enough for me. :/
Yeah, these are a sheerer formula unfortunately!
is Plum Shimmer similar to Oh, Oh, Oh (or just O) by Mac?
your skin looks so pretty here!!
I initially compared them but didn’t find them that similar 🙁
I like the twilight the best. Looks like the shimmer may help make your teeth whiter looking?
I could see that!
Ohhh, these are lovely. I like the shimmer. It’s obvious but not too heavy.
It is a nice way to get a shimmery lipstick that isn’t too frosty!
