Bobbi Brown Rose High Shimmer Lipgloss Review, Photos, Swatches
Bobbi Brown Rose High Shimmer Lipgloss
Bobbi Brown Rose High Shimmer Lipgloss ($24.00 for 0.23 fl. oz.) is described as a “true pink glitter.” It has very fine pink and white shimmer and sparkle in a seemingly clear base. MAC Impossibly Sweet, (LE, $15.00) MAC Like Venus (P, $20.00), and MAC Pleasure Principle (LE, $20.00) are all very, very similar. While Bobbi Brown Pink Tulle (P, $24.00), Bobbi Brown Pastel (P, $24.00), Bobbi Brown Bellini (P, $24.00), and Bobbi Brown Bare Sparkle (P, $24.00) are all variations on nearly clear base with sparkle. See comparison swatches.
This is my all-time favorite lipgloss formula and has been for a couple of years now (basically, since they launched). I love the high-shine finish, sparkling, glimmering shimmer in them, longer-wear, and hydrating, comfortable feel. Rose lives up to most of those things, but it’s obviously very sheer, and there are several shades in the range that are similar–clear base, pretty shimmer/sparkle–so they’re starting to feel redundant. It’s hydrating when worn, comfortable to wear with a non-sticky texture, is mint-scented, and has glossy, sparkly finish. It wears three hours on me, which is a little longer than average for such a sheer shade but shorter than other shades in the range. It’s not supposed to be an opaque formula–the emphasis is definitely on sparkle–but this shade could use a little more sparkle.

Gloss, shmoss! I am dying for that flawless skin and fabulous eyeshadow look!!
Thank you!
I’m a fan of Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmer Lipgloss too, but this shade does nothing for me. Your eye make-up, however, is a different story. 😉
Too many just like this one 🙁
Christine, you eye makeup here is so cool!
Thanks, Danielle!
I prefer my lipgloss to be pigmented, so it isn’t something I’m interested in, but that eye look you’re wearing is absolutely stunning.
Thank you, Rikki!
Forget the gloss, I’m being distracted by the eyes. Wow!
🙂
Christine! Your eye makeup is crazy beautiful! I don’t wear lipgloss very often, but this is gorgeous! This is the kind of lipgloss that I love.
It is very pretty! I just wish Bobbi Brown wouldn’t release the same shade over and over again (but with a new name), lol!
Ohh, I’ve never tried any of her glosses, thx for the heads up! 😉
WoW Christine this look is amazing!! *__* , gorgeous dear!! i’m gonna put the eyeliner that you are wearing in my cart right now =o!! And big no no for this lipgloss is too sheer!! =(
I love it! It’s such a fun, bright shade of blue!
duuuuude!!! What have you got on your eyes?!
It would be awesome if you could start doing a few eye looks thrown in too (although you probably don’t have time, so i’ll resort to asking you in the comments xP)
It is listed at the end of the post, just FYI! 🙂
THE MAKEUP LOOK
I think the eyes are bareMinerals Boudoir (inner lid), On the Rocks (middle of lid), Climax (outer lid), Sephora My Boyfriend’s Jeans Eyeliner.
They all look the same on the lips! :/ I’m not the greatest fan of clear/sheer lipglosses.
I hear ya, Mel!
Hehe, I’m going to add my gush to the comments and say that your eyeshadow look is ethereal and stunning!
Poor Bobbi, her lipgloss just can’t hold a candle to the eyes here! It is a pretty lipgloss, although I completely agree that (especially for the price) it’s not terribly exciting.
Thank you! 🙂
Wow! Your eyes are POPPIN! 🙂
Hopefully that’s a good thing! 🙂
Soooo sheer! That eyeliner however is fabu!
Thanks!
I’m sure most of us are going to remember this post because of your stunning eye makeup – you look absolutely beautiful!! Super lovely!!
The gloss is pretty but with that price tag, I’d rather choose a more unique shade 🙂
Aww, thank you so much, Leticia!
I haven’t seen you with bright colors on your eyes in a long time, it looks AMAZING!
It was a really self-indulgent look, since I wasn’t reviewing anything that day!
Love the eye look! When will you be telling us about this one?
Hi Peggy!
All of the info is below the last image in the post!
It looks quite similar to impossibly sweet from MAC as u mentioned! U look lovely in these photos!
Thank you!
The gloss is nice, but your eye makeup is AMAZING! Wow!
Aw, thanks Rachel!
Beautiful! I love the eye makeup on you!
Thank you!
Christine! Totally fabulous eye-look on you! Love it!
Thank you!!
I really wish Bobbi Brown would release a High Shimmer Lipgloss with true pink/red sparkles. The pink ones they’ve released are a bit too pale/white for my liking.
That would be fun! Could have been a perfect release for Valentine’s Day.
Just agreeing with everyone else, your eyemakeup is stunningly beautiful. Makes me long for some lovely bright shadows. Must take a look at the Bare Mineral counter next time I “need” some makeup.
The gloss on the other hand, though pretty isn’t worth the cost for me,
Thank you!
Christine, do you recall what face products you were wearing in this look? Your complexion is absolutely stunning! I wish I had the guts to try a bold eye look like this, but I never seem to verge too far from warm-toned neutrals – golds, bronzes, peaches, champagnes, espresso and chocolate taupes!…the only true ‘colours’ I have found to work and will unhesitatingly use is tones of mauve, pink or purple or, my favourite, a deep purple shadow as a liner and in the very outer-v to accentuate my otherwise neutral look.
Love your blog! xox
I have no idea, but it was probably Guerlain Parure de Lumiere. I think the photo was from December-ish sometime!
This is too sheer to make it on my list, especially as I have so much love for Pink Tulle. Always glad to see a review of a High Shimmer Lipgloss though!! And yes, your eye look is bangin’! Were you testing the shades?
Hi Jade!
I’ve reviewed these before – it was just a very self-indulgent look for me 🙂
Oh my god I want this! I have developed a rather unhealthy lip gloss obsession since visiting this website. Also love your eye make-up. What eye shadows have you used to create the look?
Here you go —
I think the eyes are bareMinerals Boudoir (inner lid), On the Rocks (middle of lid), Climax (outer lid), Sephora My Boyfriend’s Jeans Eyeliner.
Forget the gloss, eyes are beautiful.
Do you find the peppermint in these glosses to be drying at all? And do these glosses have that tingly/plumping sensation? Just curious because minty glosses are always a little drying for me….Thanks!
I don’t, but mint isn’t something that I find drying from my experience (for me)!
I don’t really notice any tingly or plumping sensation. I smell it more than I feel it? if that makes sense.
