Bobbi Brown Party Alice Lip Color Review, Photos, Swatches
Bobbi Brown Party Alice Lip Color
Bobbi Brown Holiday 2011: Party Alice Lip Color
Bobbi Brown Party Alice Lip Color ($23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “pink rose.” It’s a new and limited edition shade from Bobbi Brown’s holiday collection. The Lip Color is designed to deliver “Rich color” with a “soft-matte finish,” while still moisturizing and being comfortable to wear. Party Alice is more like a coral-pink on me than rose; more peony than rose if we’re going to use floral descriptors! It’s opaque in color with a creamy finish that has a gentle sheen but no shimmer. There’s enough vibrancy there to brighten the face but not enough to make it a bright or neon shade at all; there’s a slightly dusty quality to the color. It’s a bit darker than MAC Ultra Darling, more opaque than Chanel Coquette, pinker and darker than NARS Niagara, and not as bright as Chanel Genial.
Bobbi Brown’s Lip Color formula is good; it delivers on the full color coverage it promises, and it isn’t drying. I find that they’re moisturizing enough to wear without feeling the urge to apply lip balm for four to five hours, though by six hours I’m ready for a boost of moisture. The creaminess in the texture allows for even color to deposit on the lips and good glide overall. Generally, I get four to six hours of wear with this formula, though I reached five hours with Party Alice in particular (it’s been awhile since I’ve tested the formula!).

how does this compare to cyndi lauper’s viva glam lipstick for MAC?
Cyndi is redder!
I need this in my life.
It’s very pretty and wearable!
LOL Hilarious! You do!
Me too!
I need that.
Would you wear it alone or layered?
It always seems to me that ALL lipsticks and glosses look great on you, but you look especially lovely with this one!
Aw, thanks, Leticia 🙂
Love, what’s on your cheeks?
Le Metier de Beaute Coral Nymph + Bobbi Brown Party Shimmerbrick!
It’s such a fun looking color. 😀
It is!
OOOOH! This is so pretty!
It would look great on you!
Wow, this is a great color! You’re right about the coral-pinkiness, I wasn’t expecting that when I saw the tube.
Or for the holiday season either!
Ooh, that really is pretty.
Think you’ll check it out, Carrie Ann? 🙂
This is exactly the color I’ve been craving lately! Not totally related, but if one was choosing between a Chanel Rouge Coco Shine and Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color, which would you recommend most? I’m usually a matte lipsticks kind of girl, but lately I’ve been wanting a bit of shine.
They’re such different formulas! Rich Lip Color is opaque and creamy, less shine – Rouge Coco Shine is fairly sheer, lots of shine. I don’t like Rouge Coco Shines really – they disappear in 1-2 hours and I find them drying (go figure!). Rich Lip Colors wear much, much longer and I don’t find them drying – definitely a good formula.
I live in NARS Heat Wave and MAC Ruby Woo, so anything less matte than those qualifies as full-on shine in my brain somehow. I think I’ll try the Rich Lip Color because I can never be bothered to re-apply and a wear time of 1-2 hours just seems pointless! Thanks!
Haha – well, Rouge Coco Shines would be BLING BLING on you and yeah, reapplication ALL the time (plus, there is less than average product in it to begin with!) is a big no!
Wow! Stunning!!!
It’s a great color!
Christine,
So out of curiosity, do you purposely swatch colors that look good on you? I know my boyfriend (a super sweetie) always says, “Wow, everything looks great on you”… but it’s because I purposely only buy things that look great on me 😛
Yes, I need some BB in my life.
I don’t even know what the colors look like most of the time–until I actually swatch–and I don’t think I’ve ever chosen to photo/swatch/test something because I thought it’d look good on me (actually, that’s probably the last thing I think; it’s that moment when I see my face at 4000×3000 pixels and go, “Oooh, that is not good on me!”).
Do you remember the highlighter and cheek color in this pic? Even your eyeshadow is flawless! All nice and glowy your pic is! Great lip color also!!! Thanks Christine 🙂
Le Metier de Beaute Coral Nymph + Bobbi Brown Party Shimmerbrick
Awesome! Never tried shimmerbrick, but you’ve sold me! Thank you 😀
This color is amazing, it’s perfect. I love it. It’s a shame it’s limited edition. The color is definitely nicer applied than in the tube.
It’s definitely worth of permanent status!
Is it anything like macs strawbaby from the fafi collection?
Less pink!
I just got this and love it! It’s bright but still wearable for a lot of occasions. I’ll probably wear it more in spring & summer.
Happy to hear it! I am with you – reads more spring/summer.
OH NO!! Another Nordstrom order!! HAHA, this is such a unique kinda shade…and I love the way Bobbi Brown LipSticks feel…so smooth!! Gorgeous color too!! Thanks for letting us know how pretty this new LE color is. Happy Weekend Christine ;c)
LOL! Ever since Nordstrom started free shipping, I’ve been in trouble!
I so want this but being LE means I won’t be able to get I this season. lol
Aww 🙁
Hi Christine! Thanks for your review. What a gorgeous color! It looks fabulous on you. Would you compare it to MAC viva glam Cyndi? It looks almost identical, but maybe the color is distorted on my computer screen. Thanks!
Cyndi is redder 🙂
thanks!
Really pretty lipstick, and you look super pretty here!
Thanks! 🙂
This is really pretty. It looks fantastic of you!! I’m looking for a warm pink frost lipstick, any suggestions?
Thanks Christine!
Stacy
Maybe MAC Bombshell?
Love it!!! And my daughter’s name is Alice, so I MUST have it!
Aww!
It’s so ‘Ohhhh C’mon babe, come to mama !!’ X3
So pretty on you, Christine :3
I’m gonna get this ! [run through the doors straight to the shop at the speed of light]
Ty for sharing <3
Thank ya, Polly! 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous on you!!
Thanks, Barbara!
I bought this last week and I love it. On my pigmented lips there’s no coral at all, it’s a deep rose. But it’s a warm rose which suits me and I love the formula. The name is cool too.
What kind of pigmentation do your natural lips have?
…! A coral that will work on my cool toned skin? I think this might be a necessary.
Let us know how it goes!
I just nabbed it today while Christmas shopping, and I definitely have to recommend it as a great coral for us cool-toned girls. It’s a little subtler and muted on my paler complexion but still quite flattering. Thank you so much for the recommendation!
Fair warning to anybody wanting to try it, though – it’s apparently selling out very quickly. The tube I bought today was the last one they had in stock at my Nordstrom’s. :O
Thanks for the heads up, Veronica! So glad it’s working out for you 😀
Looks a little like the Cyndi Lauper Viva Glam lipstick. A very pretty and wearable shade.
Definitely a really wearable color!
I thought the same thing the first time I saw it! Maybe a little lighter though
It’s…beautiful. *_*
Seems like it’s a hit! 🙂
Gorgeous!
🙂
it’s pretty….i had a l/s in a shade like this once but i thought it looked bad on me
Oh no!
It looks gorgeous on you, Christine! I’ll have to try this out in person. It might be a touch too light for my NC40/42 skin.
I think it would be lovely on your skin tone, Charito!
Lovely color! On my lips, that looks exactly like Mac Gem of Roses so I’ll pass but otherwise, I’d totally buy it!!As always, looking great Christine!
Thank you, Ana!
Very pretty Christine, this looks a lot like MAC Fanfare Cremesheen lipstick to me, anyone else? 🙂
I want to say Fanfare is less pink on me!
Me too!
I’m going to get that soon~! Very pretty!
Keep us posted on how it works out for you, Jane!
Oh My..very pretty. I would love to have this lipstick.
It seems like you’re not alone!
This reminds me of MAC Gem of Roses! That is my go to lipstick and it was LE so I might have to pick this up!
Let us know if you like it in person!
It looks so pretty on you, and besides it’s called Party Alice, so it’s the closer I’ll probably ever get to have a lipstick with my name.
It’s a cute name, too 🙂
I bought mine today (at the Bobbi Brown Studio store in New Jersey, too!) I love it, it’s so pretty and goes on so well!
YAY! Happy to hear you’re loving it, Amanda!
Hi Christine is this lipstick similar to MAC ‘Fanfare’ lipstick?
I think Fanfare is less rosy!
You had me when I read Niagra! I have to have this color.
Haha 🙂
Christine that looks gorgeous on you! I’m pretty fair skinned with blonde hair and green eyes so I don’t know if it might be too bright for me, but based on the swatches and how it looks on you, I just called my favorite Bobbi Brown gal and ordered the lipstick, as well as all 3 dual ended eye liners, pretty much based on your recommendations! Now I can’t WAIT to get my stuff and try it out!
This looks like more of a summer color but it is so pretty and looks creamy too!
It’s definitely not your traditional holiday red!
