Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Shimmer Brick Review, Photos, Swatches
Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Shimmer Brick
Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Shimmer Brick ($42.00 for 0.40 oz.) is described as “bright pink, golden pink, and icy pink pearl pigments.” It’s a cool-toned, rosy pink with a frosted, shimmer-sheen finish. Estee Lauder Tease is surprisingly similar, though it has a single color throughout; it is marginally more pink-hued, but the finish and effect on cheeks makes it hard to tell the difference. MAC Flower Fantasy is also similar in color but has less of a frosted finish. Bobbi Brown Wild Rose is warmer on me, less pink/lilac, and more beige/brown, but because both are on the subtler side regarding color, the sheen isn’t largely different–the resulting cool/warm undertone difference will be more visible if you have really warm or really cool undertones in your skin.
Though everything seemed to swatch well initially, this Shimmer Brick is more sheen than it is color. Other Shimmer Bricks deliver both a highlighting sheen as well as some color, but this one works primarily as a highlighter on medium and deeper complexions; on fairer skin tones, I think it may work as a subtle blusher, too. The texture of the Shimmer Brick is soft and smooth, but it is very frosted–even for a Shimmer Brick–and I did notice that my pores were emphasized when I applied this on my cheeks. It seemed sparkly and frosty, so the sheen was not as smooth and reflective. Lilac Rose lasted eight hours well on me, and by nine hours, there was some light fading along the edges.

Just a quick thank you Christine. Your pictures are top notch and I really appreciate the work you put into your site. I seriously do not purchase ANYTHING without checking with your site first. Thank you thank you thank you again!
Thank you, Kimryan!
When I tested this at the counter it seemed to me like the texture was sort of stiff but that may have been due to it being a tester. In either case this turned out to be too frosty for my taste.
Beautiful pink highlighters/blushers are my soft spots so I had a hard time considering between this and Tease, but I ended up getting the latter because it was more pigmented, had smoothier texture and had more pink sparkles ! Tease was also a good blusher on my light-medium skintone.
Still, the five stripes combination here are too sweet and tempting that I’m afraid I’ll go out to pick this one up either !
Thaank you for the beautiful swatch <3
Hey Christine, do you have a review of the Chanel Les Beiges powders coming up? Trying to decide on getting it. Thanks!
Sorry, I don’t have thatp roduct!
I was so infatuated with the look of these Shimmer Bricks at first but as time goes on, I find they are a bit too frosted for my liking. It really looks pretty on you, though Christine!
Based on your review, I guess not buying this yesterday is a good thing. Plus, the counter didn’t have a tester available, which must be a sign. from the “make-up gods” 😀
I love Bobbi Brown, but nothing in this collection appeals to me personally.
I actually can see myself wearing this as a blush. I am slowly getting into shimmery blushes. It isn’t ideal for my oily skin but I think the glowy look is amazing for spring. This is a beautiful product!
it reminds me of the Platinum Pink shimmer brick they had in a spring collection years ago.
i also think it reminds me of platinum pink.. i just picked one up at the CCO. i like that one, too but also not my favorite.. i prefer more bronze
ones
I’m not really interested in this product, but the second strip (the purple/gold one) is so cool! I think I’ll hunt for an eyeshadow like that 🙂
Hey Christine.. on the bobbi site they said this shimmer brick can also be used as eyeshadow.. what do you think? will the colors be pigmented off to have nice pay off as eyeshadows?
They’re not super pigmented so it depends on the look you’re going for!
Nothing too exciting, but it does give a lovely finish to your skin
I’ll pass on the shimmer brick, but the blush on your left cheek looks lovely. I’ll be curious to see a review of that one.
Bought this shimmer brick on impulse at duty free when I was on holiday earlier this month, and initially regretted it because it seemed so cool-toned, but it’s definitely grown on me. I think it helps that the color is quite subtle. It’s surprising how much I’ve been liking shimmery blushes lately – I used to be a mostly-matte blush kind of girl.
It’s a shame that it emphasizes pores! It looks so gorgeous in the pan. I just can’t deal with a too frosty highlighter though, it would make my scars stand out too much. It does look very pretty on you though!
I have this one and since I am very fair, it gives me a nice shimmer and doesn’t look frosty on me.
What would you say is your favorite shimmer brick?
Nectar!
Nooo, I was hoping for a higher grade for this one! I always find it interesting when the reviews are mixed like for this one! I guess I’ll pass…
It’s a shame it emphasis pores as this will not look good on me! I have the pink quartz one which I love, it’s probably the least shimmery ad most subtle.
On a side note, I picked up the eye palette with this collection. It looks really pretty, but I’m so disappointed with the pigmentation. I know Bobbi Brown eyeshadows are subtle and sheer, but this was barely visible and all the colours, with the exception of the chocolate brown liner, were indistinguishable from one another once on the lid.
This looks gorgeous I might have to go and check it in person 😀 .
I actually got this a few weeks ago and I love it. However, I’m a pale redhead. On me, this is a super pretty pale cool pink highlighter or I layer it over blush to give it a little extra something. I had been debating on this or the Rose shimmer brick (I also own nectar and pink quartz), but after swatching the two I liked Lilac Rose a lot more. Lilac Rose was brighter and cooler toned and also paler/less pigmented, which as a fair skinned person I liked more. Very glad I got it.
Eh, I see more rose then lilac, which considering how many pink/rose highlighters I have (including shimmerbricks) seems a tad unnessecary. I would have loved to have seen a more lilacky purple toned mauve, myself.
I think gold shimmered but cool coloured highlighter/blushes are always lovely!
Gah, I keep coming back to look because I want an eyeshadow the color of that second stripe!
