Bobbi Brown Foiled Petal Luxe Gilded Highlighter Review & Swatches

Foiled Petal
Bobbi Brown Foiled Petal Luxe Gilded Highlighter ($50.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a light, pinky-coral with strong, warmer peach-gold sparkle and shimmer that gave it a more frosted finish.
The texture was incredibly thick and dense with a creaminess to it, but it was just a heavy product to work with. Even with a moderately dense brush, it didn’t pick up product as evenly as I would have expected, and it took some effort to diffuse and even out the color on my skin. I was able to get a decent end result, but it could very easily result in base products lifting because of the excess blending it took to get there.
It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that lasted for eight hours before fading.

It looks so beautiful, but yikes, it sounds like a nightmare to work with! If makeup is meant to be fun, this isn’t that.
The SG dupe is so similar but infinitely easier to use (and way cheaper!). I was… totally surprised by Bobbi Brown’s texture being so off since they normally have a nice highlighter formula!
I’m telling you, I believe Sydney Grace is literally KILLING it while going head to head with many of these more high end and luxury brands! Even her multichrome eyeshadows outdo the ones ND just put in her Triochrome palette. When Mel Thompson did side by side comparisons, I was flabbergasted at how much more dimensional shift the SG ones had.
So mad I ordered this. It was selling out and FOMO hit. It looked gorgeous and smooth in swatches I didn’t consider it being difficult to use with a brush. I guess I’ll use my fingers like I do with really sparkly highlighters. Like the top two shades in Dior Backstage Glitz quad. (Although those are drier, they still need finger application.)
Another brand barely on my radar because of quality issues. I cannot remember the last time I purchased something from them.
This looks a lot more like a blush than a highlighter – I do like the colour, but it is too goldy for me. Just as well we have the dupe list to save us!
This is so disappointing! BB highlighters (the regular formula) are among my favourite products made by the brand.
