Bobbi Brown Citrus Sheer Color Lipgloss Review, Photos, Swatches

Bobbi Brown Citrus Sheer Color Lipgloss ($23.00 for 0.24 fl. oz.) is described as a “sheer neon orange.” It’s a sheer tangerine orange that gives lips a darker, warmer look. It adds subtle color without looking opaque, but it definitely does something. Le Metier de Beaute Orange Juiced looks very, very similar–it just has shimmer.

I like the lightweight feel of Bobbi Brown’s Sheer Color Lipgloss, and it has a mint scent (but no taste) like the rest of her gloss line. The color is certainly sheer, but there is a high gloss shine. It has a slightly sticky texture that develops over time (because initially, it feels non-sticky). Citrus managed to hang on for about two hours but had disappeared entirely after two and a half hours.  Not drying, not moisturizing; it’s just kind of a so-so lipgloss.

By the by, am I the only one who likes the color in the tube to look like what it does on the lips? If I want a sheer lipgloss, I want it to look sheer and lightly tinted in the tube! If it’s going to be rich and opaque on, then I want it to look that way in the tube. Bobbi Brown is just one of many brands who’ve come out with products that look bold and opaque in the tube but are formulated specifically to be sheer.

You’re not the only one who wants colors to look on the lips like they do in the tube. I *hate* when you get all excited about something based on how it looks in the tube, but it’s sheer and totally different on the lips. It’s such a tease! This gloss was a prime example.

So true! Like the Tokidoki lip gloss. I went to Sephora and tested the sample (because everyone was going crazy over it) and honestly, it was not as pigmented as I wish it would have been. I still love Tokidoki though 🙂

I actually dont mind the colour not looking like it does in the tube.. as long as I like the colour on my lips. This kind of reminds me of purring tendertone, am I right?

You’re definitely not the only one who doesn’t like it when a product doesn’t look the same on the lips as in the tube. That’s why I hate it when sheer lipglosses are coloured, why can’t they just make them clear? I know that doesn’t look that attractive, so I do understand, I just don’t like it.

I’ve come to the realization that I don’t enjoy sheer lip glosses. It’s especially disappointing when a color like that looks so pretty in the tube, but is a sheer formula. I just don’t get the point. I guess that’s why I just opt for clear gloss or richly pigmented ones. It’s on a rare occasion that I will pick up a less opaque gloss, and it’s usually something with a gorgeous and/or unique quality.

looks pretty on 😀
i can tell which one looks bold and is actually sheer by the texture in the tube. it looks very watery(look at the bubble)

I totally agree, when it looks bold in the tube it should be that way on the lips, same frustration comes often with sheer lipsticks, I love colour, but most brands just seem to be a little shy and scared of colour.

Have you reviewed any sally Hansen Nail Polishes? I bought the “smooth and perfect” line in 3 colors; Sorbet 08, Sea 07, Air 06, and I’m buying the rest if it’s Temptalia approved lol 😉

Also I want some pastel colored lipsticks or a palette at least, but I can’t find any. Do you recommend any because I know your familiar with lots of makeup lines. There’s this line called “Lime Crime” and they have a couple shades, maybe they can send some to you for review?

Hi Neka Brown-Emmanuel,

Not in a very long time, so I couldn’t tell you how they are at present! Temptalia does not work with Lime Crime. You might try Ka’oir, which I have not tried, but have heard others recommend for pastel shades.
