Bite Beauty Spiced Plum Amuse Bouche Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches
Spiced Plum
Bite Beauty Spiced Plum Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a deep, reddish plum with warmer undertones and flecks of fuchsia, deep pink, and copper pearl and a few larger sparkles. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that went on fairly evenly but settled into my lip lines noticeably.
As lovely as the color itself was, and it was nice to see the brand incorporate shimmer into the formula, it just did not have the same consistency or quality as the formula typically does. The texture glided on without tugging but had a fair amount of slip, which contributed to the product pulling into lip lines but also made it more slippery on the lips. It lasted for four hours and was hydrating over time, but more and more color gathered in my lip lines as I wore the lipstick.

Formula Overview

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable.
The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamy with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They have a herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.

I was considering picking this one up, but now I’m having doubts. It really does look so gritty (you didn’t mention it being gritty, but it looks like it). Don’t take me wrong, the color looks lovely, and you look lovely wearing it, but I can’t imagine myself not being bothered by the texture. Or the settling into the lip lines. Looks heavy on the lips, I’m not about that.
Also, thanks for replying to my other comment about SUQQU retailers! 🙂
I think it’s the emollient texture + lack of opacity that makes the sparkles appear more prominent and therefore appear “gritty,” but the sparkles laid pretty flat on the lips – like yeah, I could tell there was a ton of glitter in the tube when I applied but it wasn’t rough/scratchy etc.
This is a lovely color and after seeing that TF Sea Dragon is a dupe I am good. I mostly like the TF formula and Sea Dragon is a beauty. I got turned on to it from Nancy T. who mentioned it in a comment a while ago and I always check out any products mentioned in the comments by readers. I went and hunted it out and purchased it. Really expensive but worth every penny. The comment section on Temptalia posts is by far my most enabling tool, LOL.
So glad you love Sea Dragon!!
Glad to enable, Deborah S.! ? It sure is a beauty of a lipstick!
Hmmm I received this Friday and wore it yesterday and last night and really enjoyed it. No issues aside from reapplying after a few hours like I would with any other lipstick. And I’m 54 with a few lip lines.
That’s great!
Oooh, this does look like a slippery one! A rare miss from BITE, gorgeous color but will skip
Yeah, it doesn’t look so bad from afar but not nearly as great as most of the Amuse Bouche lipsticks are!
Well, I’ll give Bite an A for effort…but man, the texture on this one leaves something to be desired. Beautiful shade, though. Might be time for me to bring out my Seadragon for a spin!
It had a lot of potential!
I love Bite Beauty’s formula and ingredients but the colour would be too dark on my lips. I would have loved to see as well a festive red shade with gold/copper shimmer.
Maybe they have more up their sleeves for holiday 🙂
I hope so 🙂 Something along the line of Braised or Flambé in their LL formula.
The colour is beautiful Christine.
I think this is gorgeous. I ordered it, but I may end up putting it over a lipliner.
Liner would help a lot!
Mine is opaque in one swipe, no liner needed. I LOVE it! I’ve worn it three days straight. 🙂
Oy, I guess I need to see if I can still find Seadragon 🙁
I recently picked this up and I love it, its all I’ve been wearing! I feels nice on and I just love the colour. With one swipe it gives a semi-sheer glitter and I really like it! I tend to prefer satins and shimmers to matte lips though.
