Bite Beauty #001 (Reformulation) Creme Deluxe Lipstick Quick Review, Photos, Swatches
Bite Beauty #001 Creme Deluxe Lipstick
After the poor reviews came in for Bite Beauty’s #001 (Original), they did something that few companies have done: they acknowledged the feedback, reformulated, and resent the reformulated shade to customers who purchased the original. It’s a very cool move, and it really builds a better relationship–or rather, helps salvage the relationship built–with the customer, but despite the advantages of such a move, it’s very rare to see a brand even do as much as acknowledge when a product doesn’t work well.
The reformulated #001 ($36.00 for 0.15 oz.) flickers in and out of stock. I wanted to write-up a quick update on the reformulated version: the texture is the most noticeably different aspect of the product. It is much, much less emollient and slippery, which makes it last longer and wear better, and has more weight to it, even though it is not heavy in the least. It’s not perfect; the color payoff is the same and still pulls into lip lines over time for me, but it wears for seven hours, is hydrating, doesn’t feather/bleed for me, and applied with fairly even coverage. February and March’s shades were still significantly better than this reformulated version, though, and I look forward to seeing what they bring out in April.

This is such a gorgeous color! I picked up Bette which I think the ratings are about the same. So, I wont bother myself with the hassle of trying to get it. You are looking ferocious in this photo girl!
You are totally covered if you have Bette! 🙂
Pretty, but I wish the appearance of the stick was more true to color!
I totally agree!
I’m really happy that Bite did this, and that the reformulation is at least a solidly decent product even if not perfect. I’ve yet to snag one of these, I never seem to check the Sephora site when one I want is actually in stock (I think I really would have liked 002, Japanese Eggplant). Bite’s regular formula is one of the most comfortable I’ve worn.
I hope they’ll consider taking some of the more popular/well-liked shades from the limited release and rolling them into their line somehow.
I think this looks a lot better, actually. Again, props to bite for doing the right thing, on their own initiative.
It’s definitely better – went from C to B!
Not very true to the bullet, but still very nice looking.
Seems to be one of those problems with darker shades!
Well it looks better that is for sure.
It definitely is better!
It sure looks amazing on you! But to be honest, I’m so over the vampy lip… Bring on the spring shades!
Plenty of spring shades to choose from!
I am very very impressed that they listened to the consumers and reformulated! What a great way of doing things, and in such a short time!
It was a really quick response!
What a divine colour, and how fantastic is the company to reformulate their product after negative reviews! I think other brands should take heed when they produce substandard products. Great news. It is like a marsala colour to me.
I wish more brands did this!
It’s a really gorgeous color, my kind of color. But for $ 36, I was expecting the score to be an A, but B is still good. I really admire BITE for doing the right thing and will be buying more products from them.
Totally agree, Katherine! Might as well pay less for a similarly performing shade if it’s not perfection at $36!
I have always loved the colour payoff of all bite beauty lipsticks and it is so good to hear that they have reformulated this, it shows that they care about their product and the consumer.
xx
Agreed! 🙂
It’s a great color though I would have thought the reformulation would have been in the A range given the problems they had before.
If only! It’s a harder color to get right with the sheen, but I was surprised they managed to keep the luminous sheen present while thickening the texture.
This seems like a weird color choice for April.
It originally came out in January 🙂 They reformulated it and sent out the reformulation to those who bought in January.
Well, I can’t say if it’s an improvement because although I got the notice that I was to receive the reformulation, nothing ever arrived. oh well! I hope April will be pretty, I haven’t been interested in the last 2.
You should email Sephora about that 🙂
