Best Products of the Week | Vol. 355

Hope your weekend is starting off on the right note! Every Saturday, I like to share the top 10 products from the last week of reviews. It’s a nice way to highlight what reviews have been published recently. Similarly, I love reading–and I know others enjoy sharing!–their own “week in review” when it comes to what makeup/beauty products they may have used and/or enjoyed.

What was your week in review like? Copy and paste the lil’ survey below and share your answers in the comments 🙂

  • Your skin tone/coloring:
  • What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?:
  • What was the hero product of the week for you?:
  • Any products you want to use next week?:

Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral skin tone, green eyes, almost-black hair with natural gray highlights

What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?
• EYES: NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer; ColourPop That’s Taupe palette (Pebble Beach on lid and crease, Python to deepen crease and outer half of lid, Rock Steady on outer V, Bedrock to line outer lash line); MAC Blanc Type on brow bone; UD 24/7 pencil in Mushroom on outer third of lower lash line; CoverGirl Clump Crusher Waterproof Mascara; and a combination of Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil and Precisely My Brow, both in Grey.
• FACE: Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup in Sand, Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Light Buff, Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder in Light, MAC Glow Play Blush in Blush Please.
• LIPS: MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Bronx

What was the hero product of the week for you? MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Bronx is my superhero of the week because it did not transfer onto my Invisalign trays, and it stayed on when I took the trays out, ate some food, and put the trays back in (after rinsing out my mouth, of course). I finally had to reapply it after 8 hours when I brushed my teeth. Needless to say, I’m super impressed! Plus, I love the retro 1990s shade. I went to Macy’s to see if there was a lighter neutral shade in this retro matte formula, but the closest MAC has is Runway Hit, which both the MAC sales associate and another customer told me would not look good on me. So I bought a pair of shoes instead.

Any products you want to use next week? I want to do an eye look using some of my green eye products, such as MAC Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow and UD 24/7 in Stash. Since my eyes are green, it can be tricky to use these shades, so I’m going to experiment a bit.

Your skin tone/coloring: pale, cool

What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?: today – meeting my daughter and her MIL for shopping and lunch – top 2 shadows in CT’s The Rebel palette; concealer under eyes, Sephora Cappuccino to line; on cheeks – MAC’s Sweet Sentiment blush (an all time favourite) and Craving on lips.

What was the hero product of the week for you?: Probably Covergirl Tapestry Taupe single shadow. So quick and easy.

Any products you want to use next week?: The Dior Feel 5-pan from several years ago. Seeing that Guerlain quad you reviewed earlier put me very much in mind of it (it’s also a palette that is “almost” too warm in some ways) and as fall approaches (even though it’s going to be scorching and humid next week) it’s one I should try to use and enjoy more.

Your skin tone/colouring: Porcelain, with pink undertones

What was your favorite makeup look you wore this past week?: Ever since I received my SG singles, I have been playing around with them. One look I really like was when I used Tiara on the upper eyelid, Blushed on the lower lid and Phosphenes on the lower third and blended them all in well. I paired it with MAC’s Fresh Moroccan. Another eye look which I liked was using Exquisite Opulence (my golly gosh Christine, it is a beautiful gold) and paired it with Commission and Hot Stuff. This eye look I used Fenty’s Freckle Fiesta lipstick with.

What was the hero product of the week for you?: My SG singles!

Any products you want to use next week?: More of my SG singles!
