Best Medium Coverage Foundation

What's the Best Medium Coverage Foundation that you've tried?

I have normal-to-dry skin with a light-medium skin tone and warmer undertones. Guerlain Lingerie de Peau — it’s light-to-medium, buildable, but it’s definitely not full coverage at any point. It’s super comfortable to wear, covers evenly, sits nicely on the skin, and has good wear.

I love the Marc Jacobs Re (Marc) able Full Coverage Foundation Concentrate! I have 2 shades, one for summer and one for winter, been wearing them for almost a year now. It’s full coverage but can be applied lightly to get medium coverage. I only need 1/2 drop to get medium-to-full coverage for entire face. I love the way it hides any unevenness, redness, sallowness, or discoloration; it’s like a magic eraser. But it’s definitely a tricky and fussy foundation, and can look really horrible if you apply too much or if you have dry, un-exfoliated skin. I have to keep my 46 yo skin well hydrated and well exfoliated in order to wear it, but it makes my face look great. And the coverage is strong enough to neutralize some of my yellow undertones, so I can pull off more makeup colors.

I used to really like Revlon’s Photo Ready, sadly there’s no color match for me anymore and they also reformulated it and it’s more sparkly. Right now I like the old MUFE HD foundation (Ultra HD is hit and miss with my skin, depending on my skin’s co-operation with it). I also like UD Naked Skin and Marc Jacobs genius gel.

I like Too Faced Born This Way, Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk, and Mac”s Studio Fix. All can be worn medium coverage but I tend to sheer them out with damp Beauty Blender and added luminizer because I prefer lighter coverage.

I really like Prescriptives Flawless liquid foundation that can you build up to full coverage, it’s oil-free, it sits well on the skin, does a good job of hiding some of my facial flaws and the best thing about it for me is that it was color matched to my skin tone.

I think that the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is really good. It was probably the first Estee Lauder product I had ever tried and I was pleasantly surprised not only with the performance and wear of the foundation but also the diversity of color range offered. I think it works for most any skin type and the color remains true all day.

I feel like my NARS Sheer Glow can be built up to just about medium coverage, but if I had to pick a specific one for medium coverage alone, I’d probably go with the Estée Lauder Double Wear or the YSL Touche Eclat foundation.

My HGs are Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV, Shiseido Synchro Skin, and MAC Matchmaster. Perfect medium coverage (for me) and I love the finish (satin? demi-matte?). I am using up the last of my MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation and don’t think I will re-purchase right away – it’s a bit too dewy for my taste, lately.

I am so excited to try the new LDP formulation! I called my not-so-local Nordstrom last night and they are very graciously mailing me samples of the primer and O2W – O4W and a few others so I can see what the best match is!

For me, it’s a toss up between Guerlain’s Lingerie de Peau also (and I’m keen to try their new shade range) and Clarins Skin Illusion foundation, which doesn’t seem to get a lot of attention but which is a great foundation. I also really like the Sephora “water” one (the one with the dropper – I can never remember the name but it’s in French) – I’m not entirely sure if it’s considered “medium” coverage but it has a heck of a lot of coverage for something so watery and liquid.

My Dior Skin is bar far the best!! Also Maybelline Mousse ones are great too. Both are super soft on the skin, medium to full coverage and lasts all day!

Whoops, Christine, wrote a comment for full coverage. Please delete.

Medium coverage foundation used is Charlotte Tilbury Instant Focus and Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick (buildable).
