Best Matte Lipstick Formula (Non-Liquid)

What's the best Matte Lipstick Formula that you've tried?

ColourPop’s Ultra Satin is closest to true matte with long-wear, high pigmentation, and is one of the least drying.

If it doesn’t have to be a liquid lipstick, I would say that I really like MAC’s regular matte formula. I like retro matte too but it’s not the most comfortable. I just love the way it looks. But overall, the regular matte lipsticks from MAC are really nice. For matte liquid lipstick, I would agree with CP Ultra Satin. I love them so much!

Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte lipsticks – I’ve tried many in my search for a good matte formula (Urban Decay, Kat Von D, Lipstick Queen, MAC, Nars, Dior, Stila, Clinique, Estée Lauder, you name it!). I’ve tried the Colour Pop mattes and didn’t care for them, but will have to give the Ultra Satin a try!

My absolute favourites are the Maybelline Creamy Mattes, although I would say they’re more of a semi-matte? I just love the shades and the way the formula feels on my lips. I’m also in love with the scent Maybelline lipsticks have, perhaps because the first lipsticks I ever owned were Color Sensational lipsticks and it feels very nostalgic to me. As far as drugstore lipsticks go, Maybelline’s have always been some of my favourites.

Some people might not agree, but I really enjoy Kylie Jenner’s Matte Liquid Lipsticks. They have a wide range of colors and don’t dry out my lips as bad as others. The formula smells good 🙂 and dries quickly but you still can clean up the edges.

For a standard, non-liquid matte lipstick: UD Comfort Matte, MAC is a runner-up.

For liquid: Colourpop Ultimate Satin and Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick. Runner-up would be Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm.
None of these leave my lips looking like shriveled up prunes or cause me to OCD lick my lips because of them feeling strangely powdery or severely parched.

For times when I can’t check my lipstick all the time and there’s food, MAC’s Retro Matte formula is the most reliable for longevity.

If it’s just a casual matte day and I can reapply whenever, then I prefer Maybelline’s creamy matte line.

For traditional stick lipsticks, MAC’s Matte is a favorite. I also like the Retro Mattes (stick ones, not liquid) but I know they’re too dry for most people. For liquid lipsticks, Kat Von D is my favorite by far, followed by Makeup Monsters.

I love Colourpop’s ultra satin for when I don’t mind touching up after eating, or for short days.

My all time favourite lipstick of all time (One that i’v repurchased too!!) Is LUSH’s Santa baby. And it’s a matte!! I have put that lip stick on, at 11am, gone on to eat a butter bagel, then lunch later on, and drink tonnes of tea and coffee, and then eaten dinner, and it’s STILL there as a BRIGHT opaque stain!! And it doesn’t make my lips feel tight!

I tend to stay away from anything matte. My lips are too dry as is. That being said, if I had to pick one it would be the Milani Moisture Matte Lipsticks. The staying power is unreal! I can get away with a full day wearing these if my lips are in okay condition from the start. Milani is one of very few lipstick brands that do not make my lips peel. Very reasonably priced as well.

I love the Marc Jacob lipsticks when it comes to matte lipsticks (non liquid lipsticks). Some of my favorites are Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Headliner 🙂

I really don’t like liquid lipsticks. I’ve tested several brands and all of them are too drying for my already dry lips. My favorite formula are MAC matte lipsticks (not retro-matte) and NYX matte, the ones in the black tube.

as far as regular lipsticks go, the UD comfort matte formula is hands down the best. A great drugstore alternative to me would be the colourpop matte x formula or the maybelline creamy mattes with the milani moisture mattes being good, but not as good as the colourpop matte x or maybelline creamy mattes. As far as liquid lipsticks go, colourpop’s ultra satins are the only ones I can stand! Even ofra’s formula feels drying and makes my lips crack a bit! which makes me so sad, because I love the shade miami fever!

I have only tried a few, but I love MACS Ruby Woo, and Urban Decay’s mattes. The others I have tried seem to really dry my lips out and feel really uncomfortable. Ruby Woo is the only matte lip stick that I like from MAC. I am not a huge Mac fan, but this lip stick is right up there with my favorites. There really aren’t a whole lot of mattes that aren’t liquid, and I am always on the hunt for beautiful matte colors that don’t irritate my lips.
