Benefit Cookie Box o’ Powder Highlighter Review & Swatches

Cookie

Benefit Cookie Box o’ Powder Highlighter ($30.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a light, peachy gold with strong, warm yellow-orange undertones and a luminous sheen. It had rich color payoff in a single layer, though a lighter hand could be used to build up coverage more gradually if preferred.

The powder had a smooth, silky feel to it, which made it seem more cream-like, but it was definitely a powdery. I felt like the creaminess enabled it to blend out flawlessly but really meld with my skin. It had a high-shine finish, but it didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture when worn more heavily. This shade stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Cookie is a beauty! Not sure if she’s too light for me, but I’ll check it out in-store. Ofra Star Island is way too light and white cast on me. Oddly, Glazed Donut isn’t because it’s literally a GLAZE instead of super pigmented or having a heavy white cast. I hope Cookie works for yours truly!

This is a beautiful shade and likely light enough for my skin tone. This I will check out when it makes it to my local Ulta which will be awhile since the Ulta in Missoula is the last place on earth to get product!! I find Benefit blushes and highlights work well for me and generally aren’t so pigmented that I have to be careful how much I pick up. While I can work with more pigmented blushes/highlighters, I would prefer them to be a little less pigmented and allow me to build up to the intensity that I want and most Benefit powders are that way for me.

Glad to see your score on this!
I got it as soon as it was released in a single, thanks to Mel Thompson who raved about it in many of her vids. I’ve been using it almost daily since–even with all my highlighters, I don’t seem to have a dupe for Cookie.

Thank you for this detailed info! I thought Cookie would be too dark and warm for my very fair, cool skintone but I saw so many people say it has a silver, not gold, undertone. You’ve saved me money again!

I love Cookie, it’s a spectacular highlight on me (NC15). I got it after hearing Mel Thompson rave about it repeatedly since she picked it up in a palette last year, hoping it would eventually come out as a single.
I’m probably one of the few who LOVE this box packaging. I’ve been using Benefit Dandelion since my NC5/10 days when I couldn’t find anything else to suit my vampire complexion (everything looks clownish but the lightest sheerest least pigmented colors) and have gone through a box every 1-2 years, for 15+ years. The ND Star palette has a pink shade that’s similar that I’ve panned and that’s been competing with Dandelion lately. Anyway, so the box is part nostalgia for me and I so love dipping into it, even though it’s not quite as practical with a highlighter as with a brush. The product is soft, I nicked it with my nail, so be careful. It does not accentuate lines or pores or any other texture, like a Christine said, which is sort of amazing. I’ve used it to set cream highlighters, by itself over powder, and top of setting spray. You can really bling it up if you wanted to. I think it’s perfect for anyone in the very fair-fair-light spectrum and might suit someone in the medium shade, depending on undertone. For some reason, it doesn’t register yellow-orange or gold on my skin at all, even though it looks like it has those tones.
I’m thrilled to have a reliable highlighter other than Amrezy, which is a different type of finish. And I’m so happy it comes in a special little Benefit box o’ magic.
