Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box O' Blushes Review, Photos, Swatches

Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box O’ Blushes

Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box O’ Blushes ($36.00 for 1.08 oz.) includes six powder blushes and a cream highlighter–all shades from Benefit’s permanent line-up in a metal tin. I found the color of Bella Bamba and CORALista to be different in the palette compared to my standalone versions, with CORALista being very different and Bella Bamba more “within variation” that you might expect over the years and the like. The change in color may appeal to you, or it may disappoint you, depending on the color you prefer. Most of Benefit’s blushes run rather warm-toned, and there are a lot of warm pink/coral variations here, so it may feel redundant if you are on the hunt for a really diverse blush palette. The packaging is ridiculously bulky and clunky–all I could think of was, “Why is this so heavy and noisy?” A few readers mentioned they easily depotted the blushes from the palette, so hopefully that’s an option for others. It’s unnecessarily large and nowhere near travel-friendly, and of course, it is very decked out in holiday-print, so it may feel out of place in April.

Hoola, Coralista, Bella Bamba, and Rockateur each contain 0.17 oz. of product, while Dandelion contains 0.14 oz, Sugarbomb contains 0.21 oz., and Watt’s Up! contains 0.05 oz. It works out to be about $103 in value across the seven products included in it–most of the blushes are about half the size of full-size, while Rockateur is the same as a full-sized one (I’m not sure how that worked out!). I think if you’ve always wanted to try Benefit’s blushes, or you’ve tried one or two but have wanted more, this is a great opportunity to try them.

Dandelion is a light, muted pink with subtle warm undertones and a barely-there gold shimmer-sheen. It had good color payoff with a soft, lightly powdery consistency that blends easily and wears for seven and a half hours on me. Benefit describes this particular Box o’ Powder as a highlighter to “brighten” the complexion. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Bella Bamba (Palette) is a medium-dark pink with frosted, gold shimmer. The texture was a little dry–almost crumbly to the touch–so it didn’t go on smoothly as I would have liked. With some buffing and blending, it will work into the skin and look lovely, but it’s not quite as easy to use as my full-sized version. It lasted for eight hours. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Sugarbomb is a frosted, pink-tinged peach with a golden sheen. It’s a lighter shade, so it will not yield a lot of visible color on most skin tones, but it is pigmented (just light). The texture was soft, smooth, and blendable. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading slightly. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Hoola is a medium-dark, yellow-toned brown with a matte finish. It had good pigmentation and was easy to apply, as the texture was soft, finely-milled, and blendable on the skin. There was a tiny bit of powderiness to it, but it wasn’t noticeable on the skin. When I tested the wear, the color wore well for eight hours before fading. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

CORALista (Palette) is a light peach with warm, orange undertones and a frosted, gold finish. This one is very different from the box I have–it is very, very light and orange, whereas the original I have is pinker. Aside from the major color difference, the texture was a little dry, but it didn’t look dry or powdery on the skin. The color payoff was pretty good, and it didn’t start to fade until after eight hours of wear. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Rockateur is a soft, rosy plum with warm undertones and a soft, satiny finish. It had nice pigmentation, and the texture was soft, finely-milled, and a bit powdery, but it didn’t look cakey applied. This blush stayed on well for eight hours before fading. See swatches of dupes / view dupes side-by-side.

Watt’s Up! is a soft, champagne beige. It’s a cream-to-powder highlighter that doesn’t emphasize pores, wears just over eight hours, and gives a luminous sheen wherever it’s applied. The glow is strong enough that it is visible, but it isn’t metallic or wet-looking. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

I really love this set but the bulky-ness of the packaging and the Holiday theme are totally putting me off.. I think that de-potting is an option, but I’m a little obsessive-compulsive when it comes to original packaging, so I think de-potting would be quite a huge step 😉

Erin Avatar

I plan on depotting as well, just bought my Zpalette for it. I feel like it is super cute for Christmas, but it is definitely too bulky for traveling like I do.

Joyce Avatar

I’m sure this palette will eventually be marked down in a few months, so maybe I’ll grab it then. I’ve been wanting to buy Benefit blushes (baaaack when they had a lot more product in the box!) but never got around to it. Other than Hervana and Dallas, it looks like this palette includes all their box blushes! Yay!

It’s a shame that palette Coralista is more orange, but I’ll just mix a bit of Bella Bamba for the pinker look 🙂

And definitely as someone who never finishes a product (or even comes close), smaller versions is better for me! I like that a reader depotted them so I know it’s possible. Although…I may not mind seeing a little Christmas in July 🙂

Lydia Avatar

I’m SO glad I picked this up, though I’m still saving mine till the holidays! I’ve wanted to try Benefit blushes for a long time but could never decide on a shade. I’m glad they perform decently.

I’m an absolute Christmas nut, so while I can see how the packaging is completely impractical, I have to admit I love it. * u * It’s so festive and cute and sturdy!! I’ll probably end up depotting them for travel and storage sake, but I’ll probably keep the tin just for decor…

Mariella Avatar

Too many “not for me” shades or ones I already have (I’ve got THREE Watts Ups – one full sized that I bought, one mini birthday gift from Sephora and then another one exactly the same that was a VIB Rouge gift bag item….it’s not a product I’m crazy about; I’ve also got Coralista and it’s a bit too warm for me so I rarely reach for it). The original Bella Bamba looks nice – a bit nicer than the one in this palette. And the palette itself is just too big and silly in its packaging to be of much use to me. I’d love something like this where the individual blushes could be removed for individual use (closed compacts that popped out). I do like that Watts Up is packaged to protect it from the powders, though!

Ginny Avatar

Sugarbomb and Coralista look really great on you. I’m torn. I like all the colors but I also have enough light pinks and peaches in my stash to not really need this. Plus, if the case isn’t travel friendly that’s a major deterrent. After seeing all these blush palettes with a pale pink/peach color scheme, I’m a little bit unmoved by these colors now! If someone had released a blush palette with reds, plums, and dark roses, that would’ve been at the top of my list.

I should probably save my money for the Tom Ford lipsticks you just posted, oy!

Antonia Avatar

Pretty! I’ve never tried Benefits blushes so I may pick this up. Definitely won’t be traveling with it though! Christine, in your opinion, what blush lasts the longest on the skin? I find most blush fades on me after a few hours 🙁

Fran Avatar

This looks like a good deal to me, since I don’t have any of these, like light blushes, and have been wanting to try them. There are dupes here of other shades I’ve been wanting to try, too, MAC New Romance and Make You Mine, Clinique Ginger Pop, and NARS 413 BLKR. I guess it’s both good and bad that Hoola is a dupe for both Laguna and Park Ave. Princess, since I already have these in other palettes but at least know that they work for me even though they’re yellow-toned. I’m definitely going to check this out! Do you know what methods people have used for depotting this palette? I’m pretty sure that you’re right that I’ll be wanting to have them available in a more user-friendly format after a month or two of enjoying the packaging.

Stephanie McDaniel Avatar

I loved the concept – try 6 blushes for a very small price, plus even the smaller sizes last a really long time but like you could not get on board with the packaging, super festive and very bulky so I depotted and it is rather easy. They are stuck on with strong glue so as long as you are very careful (i yanked one of mind a bit too much and it cracked a little – easily patched up though) you can prise them off easy enough. i put mine in a Z palette and I’m getting so much more use out of it now!

Alison Avatar

Thanks for reviewing this. I wanted to get it as a gift for someone who is blush-shy and I think Benefit blushers are the perfect “gateway blush” (they were for me anyway – Dandelion was the first blusher that made me realise that adding colour to your face wasn’t scary!).
As for the packaging – I’m convinced that their holiday collection packaging is getting more padded out and ridiculous every year. I’ve had a Benefit set for Christmas every year and they used to be really nice little travel sets but last year I got one in a massive tin and all the products were set into this MASSIVE bit of foam. So unnecessary.

Crystal Avatar

I love this palette, Christine! Do you think the palette versions of Bella Bomba and Coralista are better? Or just different?
It looks like a really great value for money set.

Also, off topic, I would LOVE to see a post where you talk about (or even with photos) your review process. I think most often, I look at these gorgeous posts and wonder how your makeup stays so perfect after you swatch on your face! Do you touch up foundation after every shot? It always looks SO perfect!!

Christine Avatar

I think Bella Bamba is better in full-sized in terms of quality (ignoring color). Coralista is more consistent.

If I’m changing cheek colors, I remove the entire area, redo it, then apply the next one. That’s why I can only do 2-3 swatches per cheek before my cheeks are like, “Nope, that’s enough out of you!”

Alexis Avatar

For that price/value I’m definately getting this! I’ve been wanting to try a benefit blush for a while but couldn’t decide which shade, so this is great for me! I also love warm blushes so… As for packaging I’ll just depot.

Gillian Avatar

I had to get this palette! Well, I suppose I didn’t have to but you know what I mean. I’m really liking it so far and I think the presentation tin is very cute, however I like the sound of being able to remove the blush pans when I start to get annoyed with it and its lack of portability. I’d put them in my Z-Palette so that I can take a few at a time when I travel and still fit in some eyeshadows etc. to avoid having to take multiple palettes. I’m always looking for ways to take as little makeup as possible when I travel so the more compact the better. 😀

piper Avatar

You look beautiful in all of this blushes Christine! Dandelion is the only blush I’ve ever hit pan on and finished off! I’ve been dying to try more of benefit’s blushes since, but was trying out other brands first. So this is perfect for me. I just do wish they had included hervana or dallas, it would have given it a lil bit more of color variation. I also wish benefit would generally ditch bulky packaging altogether, I mean the boxes of their blushes could be smaller and more portable. Still, I’m so glad this is out and for $36! 🙂

Eliz Avatar

I bought this for my 13 year old daughter who is just getting into make-up and she couldn’t be happier. She said that I can totally borrow it and I plan to. I do wish they would have housed the blushes in their own little boxes (like the mini versions) as the packaging is very bulky. Adorable, but bulky. My daughter doesn’t mind and these are her first blushes, so she has plenty of storage room. If they were exclusively for me, I would depot them. I love Watt’s Up in the mini pan – I actually prefer it this way over the bulky stick. Sweet set.

Sarah S. Avatar

What a great set of blushes for someone who only has about three in her whole collection *cough me cough*!

At this rate, no one is going to want to buy me gifts this year, haha!

Rachel R. Avatar

I’m still really liking this set, but I wish Coralista was the same as permanent version. It was the one I was most wanting to try. It still looks pretty, just different. This still looks really nice and I’m glad to see the quality is so good. If I’m getting the Tarte palette though… (Teetering on my fence)

Pami Avatar

I would prefer the original versions of CORALista and Bella Bamba, and have Dallas instead of Hoola, but it is a fantastic value. I like how they put the cream highlighter in it’s own removable, airtight container, both preserving it, and protecting it from loose powder.

Other than that it’s a fantastic value, the packaging is cute for gift giving, but totally impractical. Would have to be depotted into a Z Palette for sure. I was really going to snag this one, but lately I’ve been trying harder for quality and true desire over quantity, and like a lot since I have so much as it is. What to do…what to do…

jillojello Avatar

I am so confused about this one. It says Benefit’s “permanent line-up” then why aren’t Dallas and Hervana in it? And wasn’t Bella Bamba discontinued? And how is that Rockateur is full sized in a small pan? Oh Benefit, leaving me wondering too many things about this set.

Great review, I definitely like the orginal Coralista better from your swatches.

hong Avatar

I absolutely think it’s a steal ! good buck for your money! i was debating between this or hourglass blush but I choose this since it has better value. The blush doesn’t last long on me, it faded away after 3 hours and looks quite blotchy. Do you have any recommendation to make blush last longer?

Shayni Avatar

I love the idea of this, but BeneFit’s blushes never show up the way I want them to on my NC35 skin. I’ve owned Coralista (a few years ago) and it had huge gobs of glitter in it. Maybe the formula has changed? Dandelion, Sugarbomb, and Rockateur look like white streaks on my skin, and Coralista shows up like a blob of shimmer. 🙁 Bella Bomba is such a beautiful color, but when I tried it in Sephora, nobody liked it on me. Even though it looks “warm” it became strangely “cool-toned” on my skin.

I wonder why Dallas and Hervana aren’t in this kit?

This is slightly OT – but for years I didn’t bother to try TheBalm’s blushes because I thought they were just like BeneFit’s. They SO are not! Thanks to your excellent reviews, I now have Cabana Boy and Frat Boy and they’re both outstanding. I am crazy over Cabana Boy. Thank you!!!!

Christine Avatar

I wonder if there’s something they use in their formula that just doesn’t work on your skin! Unfortunately, a lot of Benefit’s blushes aren’t great for darker skin tones 🙁 One of their biggest complaints, I’d say, from people who’d like to use their products.

So glad you’re loving Cabana Boy and Frat Boy! 🙂

Jessica Nunes Avatar

Hey there 🙂 Would you please tell me the size of each blush? Just wanted to know if I could fit all the 6 powders into a small z palette.

Laura_Lou Avatar

So glad I picked this up! I don’t mind that some of them are a little different from the boxed versions. These are so easily depotted too. Love love love it!

L Avatar

Is this the first blush palette that Benefit released?
I don’t own any benefit blushes since i’m not fond of the boxes, just like nars and their will-turn-sticky compacts. If I do get this, I’m definitely depotting into a Z palette.
