Becca Songbird Mineral Blush

Becca Songbird Mineral Blush ($32.00 for 0.20 oz.) is described as a “peachy pink.” It’s a muted, medium-dark copper with hints of brown and soft, gold frosted shimmer. MAC Bad Girl Gone Good (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery. MAC Eternal Sun (P, $23.50) is less shimmery, darker, more muted. NARS Luster (P, $30.00) is lighter. MAC Cheeky Bronze (P, $30.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Becca Blushed Copper (LE, $38.00) is darker, more muted. Becca Rose Gold (P, $38.00) is more shimmery, lighter. MAC Seduced at Sea (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery, lighter. LORAC Unapologetic (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter. MAC Make You Mine (P, $23.50) is less shimmery, darker, cooler. NYX Beach Babe (P, $6.50) is more shimmery, lighter. NARS Fervor (Right) (P, ) is more shimmery, darker. NARS Frenzy (Right) (P, ) is more shimmery, lighter. MAC Linda (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter. NARS Craving (Right) (P, ) is lighter, cooler. Colour Pop Most Necessary (P, $8.00) is more shimmery, lighter. The blush had good, mostly opaque color payoff with great ease, and at this point, I’m honestly surprised Becca went with a “buildable” marketing push on these when the majority of the range is rather pigmented! The texture is soft, lightly dense and almost creamy, with excellent blendability–it nearly applied itself as it was diffusing as I applied it. While it had a more shimmery finish than some shades in the line-up, it didn’t emphasize pores and sat naturally on the skin. The finish is definitely more subdued than Becca’s more famous pressed highlighters, as a reference point. On me, the powder wore for just over eight hours before I could tell it was fading.

Formula Summary | Becca Mineral Blush ($32.00 for 0.20 oz.) is supposed to be a “delicate powder blush” with a “buildable formula” that gives a “natural-looking, flushed appearance.” They typically have a soft, creamy consistency that is a little denser than the average powder but not truly dense. Some of the very shimmery shades feel a little dry compared to the more pearly ones. I found the formula to be incredibly easy to apply and blend on the skin without any need for special tricks; they felt very grab-and-go, the kind of blush where there’s no fight to diffuse and soften edges or get even coverage. They are more pigmented than what I’d term as “buildable,” which some will appreciate, some will be disappointed by. The wear ranges from seven to nine hours with the brighter and more satin-to-matte shades lasting longer. My favorite part of the formula is the luminous sheen they give to the skin, so they don’t look too shimmery on the skin. I think if you find Becca’s pressed highlighters to be too shimmery, you may find their blushes more up your alley with respect to finish.

Songbird looks so pink on you and the swatch looks to be a little orange. Either way it looks lovely on you and brightens your face. As always thanks for the in-depth reviews and beautiful pics.

I think I had Songbird before, but I returned it because it looked like so many other coral blushes I own. I have to say, it definitely suits you Christine and I hope you wear it more often! 🙂

I really like this. I’m just not sure if it would be too pigmented or not n me. fortunately, I think the Sephora near me has these in so I can try them on. 🙂

I think they’re easy enough to sheer out/blend down or use more lightly – they are forgiving at least 😀

Right there is the description of build-able. The ability to be used sheer but also semi or opaque in built from layers. The first lay down doesn’t have to be sheer, but it needs to easily be able to become sheer. I think of it as an integer scale of opacity when it comes building pigments. It applies to art supplies and colour theory too. 🙂

You will have to use a light hand with a light brush, which is technically possible with any product – so if I have to barely tap to get semi-sheer color, then it’s less buildable and more forgivable/usable as a sheer product. To me, if I don’t be very mindful of this product, it is quite pigmented. If apply with my regular routine, I won’t be able to get sheer coverage without actually removing some of the product – it’ll cover the entire area. To me, buildable means you can layer and intensify 🙂

Hi ZeeB. I’m NC50 in Mac and this is my favorite blush of all time which says a lot because I have a huge blush collection. Trust me, it’s super pigmented. You can go subtle and it’ll have more of a highlighter effect or you can build it up. And it practically blends itself. I heart this blush so much. Hope this helps!

Songbird is the blush I use almost everyday! Ever since I got Songbird, I’ve neglected my other blushes. It’s so soft and easy to blend and would never leave harsh edges. I’m so glad you featured it on your site!

Just curious though, why is it only a B+? When I saw the title of the Songbird post, I was wondering if you would rate it an A!

It’s pretty pigmented, and Becca describes their blushes as buildable — one layer is nearly opaque! May be a good thing for some, but it’s not as described so that’s why it loses points 🙂

I love it! This reminds me of how ColourPop Quarters topped with Butterfly Beach as a highlight and lightly applied over Quarters looks on my cheeks. This looks really beautiful on you!

So pretty (you and the blush!). Thank you for reviewing these. I picked up Gypsy after your review and I am loving that and Flowerchild; such a nice glowy finish. 🙂
