Becca Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Souffles
Here are the other half of the new Becca Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Souffles ($24.00 for 0.08 oz.), which is a lip gloss described as having a “double dose of pigment and shimmer” that is also hydrating with shine that lasts for hours. I reviewed the first half here, if you missed it! To recap, the texture of the gloss is unusual: it felt smooth, but it almost felt dry, clung to the lips, and got very tacky after fifteen minutes of wear. The way the gloss is in the tube is that there are two distinct shades, and they aren’t mixed, so you have to mix them as you apply, which doesn’t always work well. I also had issues where the gloss would leak out about one or two clicks’ worth of product, even after I used all that I had initially clicked out. The pigmentation tended to semi-sheer to semi-opaque, which sometimes applied quite unevenly.
Becca Papaya/Topaz Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Souffle ($24.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium-dark orange with warm, red undertones and fine gold shimmer. The gloss was semi-opaque and went on fairly evenly, though it wasn’t always consistently even–sometimes it didn’t mix as well as other times. It lasted for four and a half hours and was a little drying. MAC Laundry List (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. Revlon HD Citrine (550) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery. NARS Wonder (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. MAC Riviera Life (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. MAC Eclectic Edge (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. Guerlain Tangerine Vlam (P, $30.00) is similar. Burberry Coral (P, $29.00) is pinker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Becca Raspberry/Opal Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Souffle ($24.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pink-berry with very fine champagne shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage, and it didn’t look streaky on, but there was some settling into lip lines after two hours of wear. The gloss stayed on well for four hours in total, but it was a lightly drying. It was a harder-to-dupe shade, so I wish it was more hydrating and easier to wear. NARS Shade III (LE, $26.00) is less shimmery. MAC Seeking Adoration (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. NARS Sixties Fan (P, $26.00) is brighter, less shimmery. MAC Fashion Perk (P, $22.00) is brighter, less shimmery. Marc Jacobs Beauty Studded Kiss (310) (DC, $28.00) is darker. MAC Real Posh (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery, darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Becca Watermelon/Opal Beach Tint Lip Shimmer Souffle ($24.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a coral-orange with warm undertones and a dusting of fine, gold shimmer. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque pigmentation that went on fairly evenly and smoothly. It pulls into lip lines slightly, but it didn’t worsen much over the four hours it lasted. This one was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Barbecue (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery, brighter. Maybelline Glistening Coral (525) (P, $8.99) is lighter, less shimmery. Revlon HD Sunstone (565) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery. Gucci Beauty Crushed Coral (P, $32.00) is less shimmery. MAC Teen Dream (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Dior Paradise (732) (P, $29.50) is more shimmery. Guerlain Candy Stripe (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, slightly pinker. Burberry Brick Red (P, $29.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

This is pretty to look at in the tube, but that’s about it. I think Becca overthought this. If they had ditched the pain-in-the-neck packaging ( just use a regular doe foot applicator with tube), pre-mixed the 2 colors together so you get even application, added in a little more product, and put this in the $15-$20 price range, this would be a hit.
I totally agree!
I like how you think Katherine, well said. Lol. 🙂
I think you’re right.
Katherine, you totally nailed it!
I really like the packaging. It’s far more hygienic than a doe foot wand that just sits in a moist tube… The human mouth is the most germ-laden part of the human body.
I agree with you Katherine as well! Not the smartest move by Becca here.
Watermelon Opal is my favorite out of these.
I like the color range!
Wow, I usually don’t like sheer lip colors, but these are AMAZING! <3
The colors are pretty choices! I wish the formula was better.
I really like the watermelon one! 🙂
It is pretty!
I was hoping for a little more pigment and cover from the Raspberry/Opal which is my fav of the Cheek Souffles. I realize this is a lipgloss, but wanted more of a lipstick type hybrid.
I hope they’ll do that next, since I think it would work better in a lipstick formula.
I get the concept of “double dose of pigment and shine” as a designer. And I appreciate the fun in looking at the frosted jelly appearance from the tube. But as a user I wouldn’t like a lipgloss applied unevenly or having trouble blending the pigment and the shimmer. I would go for a dual-tone one with traditional packaging. Plus, there are already a ton of good ones with dual-toned shimmers that perform well out there.
Once mixed, they’re not particularly unusual – they are shimmery glosses, so I don’t think they had to keep them un-mixed to get the effect!
Yesterday you posted a pic from mothers day you had on sephora lip gel in deep rose. Is raspberry/opal similar to that? Btw your makeup for mothers day was stunning you had the most beautiful glowing radiance.
Becca shade is darker, less glossy, more shimmery, and a little cooler-toned! 🙂 They’re maybe 85% similar.
Thanks. At least the seph ones in my opinion perform better and are cheaper. Appreciate you getting back to me.
How are there still people in the world who think that clicky pen lip gloss applicators are a good idea? They’re the worst! You have to click it for about twenty minutes to get it started before any product comes out at all, and then they always squirt out way more product than you actually want, and then they keep oozing after you put the cap back on and set it down. Yuck!
I’m surprised to see it used by a higher-end brand!
I would be very tempted by the last two, if it weren’t for the applicator. I tend to avoid any lip product with a plastic bullet applicator with a passion, unless it’s a clear lip balm (and even then, there’s just a couple that I tolerate, like Jack Black). For some reason, it’s very hard for me to apply lip gloss with these applicators, and I tend to make a mess. Plus, they gross me out for some reason, lol, which makes no sense because they’re probably more hygienic than regular doe-foot or brush applicators.
They look gross to me, too, after a few applications! I don’t know if they’re really more or less hygienic, since you’re still letting the applicator touch your mouth/lips.
I like the colors of these three, but I have the Revlon HD dupes, and they’re probably better glosses.
SO much better!
The way you described the texture doesn’t sound very appealing! Is it uncomfortable?
It’s weird, but by the last one, I didn’t find it really uncomfortable, but it wasn’t what I’d call comfortable either. It’s pretty tacky.
I bought Watermelon/Opal when it just came out and I’ve regretted it so much. I’ve tried to make it work at least 6 times, but every single time, it comes out as a golden mess. Almost none of that “watermelon” color, just a whole lot of shimmery opal. If mine came out anything close to how your swatches are, I might’ve liked it. I would’ve loved a premixed product in an OCC Lip Tar/Becca Beach Tint-esque type of packaging. Current packaging is very frustrating and makes the product incredibly inconsistent.
That sounds like the problem I had with the Fig one, except it was mostly Fig and almost none of the shimmery part. The current packaging is just bad all around!
Clicky products are THE WORST. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another one again. Why do they exist?
I wish I knew!
I was hoping these would preform better 🙁
