Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid) Review, Photos, Swatches
Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid)
Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid) ($41.00 for 1.7 fl. oz.) is described as a “golden opal pearl.” It’s a soft, light-medium gold with warm undertones and a soft, golden shimmer. bareMinerals The Love Affair (LE, $26.00) is more shimmery, cooler. Urban Decay Glint (LE, ) is more shimmery. MAC Sparkling Rose (LE, $28.00) is cooler. Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment (Original) (P, $26.00) is warmer. Becca Opal (P, $38.00) is more shimmery. Kevyn Aucoin Starlight (P, $44.00) is more shimmery, cooler. MAC Summer Opal (LE, $26.00) is cooler. bareMinerals The Premiere (LE, $26.00) is more shimmery. Bobbi Brown Pink Glow (LE, $45.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Becca Opal (P, $38.00) is more shimmery. NARS Hot Sand (P, $30.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
If you’re unfamiliar with Becca’s liquid highlighter, here’s a summary: it’s a “sheer cream-liquid” that gives a “soft, natural glow” with a “water-light” texture. Liquid highlighters are a good option for someone who likes a more multi-tasking highlighter, and they have a tendency to run sheerer and/or subtler on the skin (but it can depend on the formulation–it is true with Becca’s, which is designed to be subtler compared to their cream and powder highlighters). It can be mixed in with other products, like your moisturizer, primer, or foundation, as well as patted over your base products. The water-like texture makes it easy to apply over bare skin. It spreads well and evenly across the skin, and it has mixed well with anything I’ve tried with it (moisturizer, primer, foundation). It also worked well patted on top of the cheeks as a more precise highlighter, but the finish is more dewy than overtly shimmery, so some may find it too subtle as a result (I would recommend the pressed for you!). Over bare skin as a cheek highlighter, it lasted for seven and a half hours on me, and when I tried it mixed with my foundation, it didn’t have an impact on the longevity.

Omg, I totally need this in my life!
It’s pretty!
This is just too gorgeous! And probably the last thing I needed to see before heading to Ulta lol. It’s gonna be hard resisting one of these
lol!
Oooh I think this is prettier than Moonstone! I have it on my wishlist now! 🙂
Woohoo 😀
Man, I’m always floored by how genuinely natural the finish on Becca’s liquid highlighters looks. Not natural as in shimmery but hey it’s not glittery, but more like a model in humid weather. lol. I’ve got two highlighters right now which I think is more than enough so I can’t justify a third, but when I run out of one I am going to be all over this, probably in Pearl.
Seriously, your skin looks incredible, Christine. 🙂
Eh, that’s the foundation, lol!
It’s a really nice subtle highlighter – perfect for anyone who finds most highlighters too much!
OMG, I’m +40 and wore this on Sunday, mixed in with my IT CC Cream (the original one). My friend couldn’t stop asking me what I had been doing with my skin and what my “secret” was. She said I looked flawless. I just love mixing these Becca highlighters into my foundation/bb cream for extra glow and a soft focus finish. I’m pretty light, but Opal is great for summer, when I need some color without having to resort to bronzers or self-tanners
That is always a great compliment 😀
Ok, you look gorgeous. And I’m sure you’re already aware that I love Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquids! This one is too dark, but it didn’t stop me. 😀 I have a shade that was limited as it was don’t for a movie.. Rose Quartz… It’s like a light pinker shade of Pearl and it’s fabulous! 🙂
Enjoy it!
Thank you! You can still find it if you hunt! For my very pale skin, I quite like it! I’ll use Opal most often on others or as a quick eye on me. 🙂
Perfect for your coloring!
Thanks, Erin!
I really want to try one of these! How does the formula compare with the Armani Fluid Sheers (or are they just completely different)?
They’re very similar!
I have a sample of this and I love it so much.
Yay!
So pretty! I got the poured version of Opal and use it as an eye shadow! I love how subtle and natural it looks.
Gorgeous!
How would you compare this to the Burberry Fresh Glow in No. 1?
This is darker.
Your skin looks so beautifully radiant! On me radiance usually means greasy shine though..
Aww!
I wish I had not read this one and looked at your pics/read comments because now I’m absolutely convinced that I need this. And I had written off Becca highlights as completely unnecessary for me, just because I already have so many in all the different formulations – Colourpop, Benefit, Dior, Chanel, Tarte, Too Faced, and even Well People and Cynthia Rowley (off the top of my head)!! Ugh. Temptalia is such an enabler for my makeup addiction!! 😉
lol! Awwww!
Oh, I forgot to ask! Christine how much do you mix with foundation to achieve the look in your photo?
A quarter to half a pump!
I bought this two weeks ago after reading your feature post comparing Becca Powder, Liquid & Poured highlighters, which helped me choose the liquid Opal shade. I love it! I add it to my moisturizer, or my Clinique BB or Smashbox CC cream or wear it alone. This product is versatile, and a little goes a long way! That bottle will last forever…totally worth the price.
BTW I love your blog and appreciate all the hard work you put into it. I visit Temptalia first before purchasing anything and am never disappointed in your reviews. Love your swatch gallery too. I was thinking of getting Nars “Hot Sand” but after reviewing “Opal” & “Hot Sand” side by side, I won’t need to and can save for another makeup item. I have my eye on the Chanel Blue Collection coming up, & Naked Smoky.
Thanks for all you do for we makeup addicts!
No problem, Maribeth! I’m so glad I could help you find a new favorite product 🙂
Thank you!!
Hi Christine! This is gorgeous. How do you set this product? Did you go over it with loose powder?
You can set with translucent powder, but I don’t usually set it if I use it as a spot highlighter.
