Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid) Review, Photos, Swatches
Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid)
Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector (Liquid) ($41.00 for 1.7 fl. oz.) is described as a “pale gold.” It’s a muted, light golden champagne with very fine shimmer and warmer undertones. Too Faced Pop of Light (P) is a powder, pinker, less shimmery. Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is a cream, slightly more shimmery. Estee Lauder Courreges (LE, $32.00) is more shimmery. Burberry Nude Radiance No. 01 (P, $48.00) is lighter. MAC Born to Dazzle (LE, $28.00) is more sparkly, powder. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Glow (P) is darker, powder. Tarte Champagne (LE) is a powder. Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is a powder. Illamasqua Aurora (P, $24.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
The formula is supposed to be a “sheer cream-liquid” that gives the skin a “soft, natural glow.” The liquid version of the Shimmering Skin Perfector is the sheerest option, though it is still a noticeable highlighter when applied on top of bare skin or foundation. I personally prefer using the liquid for mixing in with base products (like foundation, moisturizer, or primer) for an all-over luminosity, and then defer to the cream or powder versions for spot highlighting (cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and so forth). The texture is thin, watery (not in a bad way), and very spreadable across the skin. It doesn’t emphasize pores or look too shimmery on the skin, even when blended all-over. On me, it doesn’t seem to decrease or increase the wear of my base product, and as a standalone highlighter, it stays on well for seven and a half hours. The pump mechanism is hard to control if you want just enough for cheeks, as it tends to pump out enough for all-over.

My favourite Becca product.
It’s really lovely! 🙂
I just got this for 50% off on HSN. I prefer it for spot highlighting on my cheekbones, since I’m more of a fan of matte/satin finishes for my foundation.
Very nice!
50% off??? Is the deal over? Is there a promo code?
It’s $20 off $40 purchase for new customers. Code 159811 is good until 5/31/2015.
Oh thanks so much!! I just ordered it, with $20 off! I’ve been eyeing this for the longest time, finally couldn’t resist
No problem, it really is a great deal!
Oooh your skin looks radiant, beautiful!
Thank you!
I was just going to say that!
This is so gorgeous!! I love how it’s not too yellow, warm, or sparkly. I prefer my shimmer to be refined – I looked at swatches of Burberry Nude Radiance and Becca Moonstone side by side but can’t tell – is the shimmer in Moonstone more refined? Between the two, is one better for mixing into foundation and one better applying as spot hightlight?
I think the shimmer is really the same in size 🙂 Both are equally good for mixing or applying as a spot highlight in terms of results, but I find the liquid-based highlighters with pumps a bit more frustrating to use (practically) for spot highlighting.
I pump and few pumps into a small container to keep and use this product as a spot highlighter. Then use the pointy end of a slightly damp beauty blender, usually has a touch of foundation still left on it to stipple a bit on the tops of my cheekbones.
Nice touch! Are you an artist of any sort Wendy? From reading your comments, you seem to have the artistic mind from your approach to makeup 🙂
Rather the opposite. I have a B.Sc. and worked as an executive in the science and technology business for years before ‘retiring’ in my early 40’s and becoming a dairy goat farmer. I have discovered a whole new side to myself since then and I am an avid cook, baker, photographer, super crafty with pretty much anything, and have learned much about the art of makeup along the way as well. I enjoy the challenge of finding ways to make products work for me and love the fact that tastes, skin colour and texture, and colour are so wonderfully diverse and different on everyone. I love picturing products working on different skins. Essentially, I have learned to tap into the beauty of visual over mental. Not surprisingly I guess, my brother is a very talented artist. I was always ‘the smart’ one which seems like a rather limiting label to me now. Love to help (✿◠‿◠)
Thanks for the tip!
You look so pretty and fresh in the picture, love the effect a barely-there lip color has on you. Brightens your whole face. I also ADORE the eye look!! I hope we get a close up of it in a later review
Thanks, Jessica!
I have the mini of this and I LOVE mixing it with my foundation for all over dewy, radiant skin.
Isn’t it lovely? 😀
So pretty, I got a sample packet of Opal (I think) and I loved it so I bought it! I think this will be the next addition to my collection. I’ve been loving dewy moist (eww that word) looking skin but don’t love the longevity of most dewy foundations I’ve tried. I love mixing this into my more full coverage and long wearing foundations to get that dewy look 🙂
This will totally be a fantastic way to get a more luminous finish without having to use an actually dewy foundation! 🙂
This is my favorite highlighter! Love the texture and the color. I want to check out the powder version, though. While this one is gorgeous it always dulls to a super natural finish after I set it with my powder :/
I think you’ll love the powder one then! 🙂
Now this is beautiful! I bet it’ll be great for mixing into foundation and moisturizer for a soft all over glow
It is one of my favorites!
That pump mechanism really makes me wary. I wanted to swatch the new Josie Maran illuminizer at Sephora the other day. That thing just splattered all over me – let’s just say I walked out of Sephora shimmery and very inappropriately highlighted!
Oh no! I haven’t had that one splatter on me, but they do pump out more than you need.
You look stunning !. I bought my first Chanel Rouge Coco last week and got Arthur after a long battle in my mind over it and Julia. Now, I am wishing I would have picked up Julia ! I think it may have to see it’s way into may collection soon. I love the Becca luminizers and this one along with Moonstone in the liquid form are the ones that get the most use by far by me. I agree that the pump is a pain. I just usually screw the top of and shake a bit out. Other than the pump, they are perfect. the bottle last forever, so the $ is well worth it IMO.
Aw, thank you Nicole! 🙂
Good idea to twist off the top!
“Beautiful” is inadequate. This would probably be the shade I’d try. It looks pale-girl friendly,
It should work on very light skin tones!
Thanks Christine for writing a review on this, I have recently bought one for curiosity – still have to try it – and I am happy to know it is a good performer!
My pleasure, Laia! 🙂 Which one did you get?
Exactly the same one! Maybe it will be a tiny bit more visible on me but I like the look of glowing skin so it’s cool 🙂
I think it looks beautiful on your skin! Makes you glow! I love matte foundations, but I will put a small dollop of this in my foundation and it looks beautiful. Gives just a hint of shimmer. And this bottle will last FOREVER!
Thank you, Kelly! 🙂
I love this one. It’s warm but not too warm!
Agreed!
I love the actual color of Moonstone. I don’t have the liquid, but I do have the pressed powder version. It is not drying at all to me, really soft and buttery! The other colors are beautiful, but the color is off on me, and I’m not that fair. I am the lightest in medium. LOL, I am the color that I have to buy a medium and light, concealer, usually and mix them until summer. Then, I just use the medium. It is a struggle doing this, but I’ve learned to accept and cope! I really wish that Becca would make a pink tinted highlight! I love pink-ish tinted highlights! Thanks Christine, it looks very lovely on you, as most products always do!
Happy to hear you love the powder version, Kimber! 🙂
Becca Shimmer Skin Perfector never disappointed me.
The smell of this gave me a horrible headache. It doesn’t say it’s fragranced but it was still awful for me. 🙁 So sad because the appearance is gorgeous.
