It’s too bad their CEO, Nils Johnson, is an unapologetic racist. I won’t be purchasing 🙁
Do you have some sources? I’d love to learn more. I tried to Google it but did not find much. I do not want to support racists.
Thank you 🙂
I would love to learn more. Could you please provide some sources so that I can read up on this? I certainly don’t want to support if this is the case
He’s not racist, he just chooses money over morals by continuing to be a distributor of Jeffree Star cosmetics. He did a interview with several black YouTube creators where this was basically his reason, they just make too much money to stop carrying him, so do with that what you will
Three Black makeup artists (YouTubers Kelsee Briana Jai, Kinky Sweat and GlamGirlChelsea) who conduct “Behind the Beauty” Q&A sessions hosted him on one of their recent interviews. I would anticipate that they wouldn’t have hosted him if he were “an unapologetic racist”.
Nils cofounded the company with two POC, Beautylish leadership is 79% POC, executive level is 80% POC, and their board is 60% POC. Further breakdown (e.g. black vs. non-black POC and whole company levels) here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CBHUsO3FNqI/
I think J* is trash but Beautylish seems to walk the walk more than other companies. Is it enough? No, but carrying J* doesn’t mean the CEO is racist.
