bareMinerals The Shining Moment Luminizer Review, Photos, Swatches
bareMinerals The Shining Moment Luminizer
For Just One Shining Moment You’ll Glow
bareMinerals The Shining Moment Luminizer ($26.00 for 0.30 oz.) is described as a “golden champagne.” It’s a light-medium yellow gold with a pearly sheen. Chanel Routes des Indes de Chanel is extremely similar. Guerlain Terracotta Sun in the City is darker, more orange-gold.
On warmer complexions, this will be incredibly complimentary. On cooler complexions, I think it will still work, but there’s a chance it might turn orange-y so you may want to try before you buy. It read true yellow gold without any orange/red tones when I swatched it and looked at it in the pan. Â The texture is similar to the Ready eyeshadows, though this felt not quite as dense/buttery.
It was very finely-milled, soft to the touch, and blended beautifully on the skin.  It gave a glowing sheen, and it didn’t emphasize pores or the texture of the skin.  The payoff was true-to-pan, so depending on your application, it could be applied heavily or lightly, because it would smooth and even out easily.  It lasted nine hours without fading when I tested the wear. bareMinerals continues to impress me with their Ready range; the wear is impeccable, rich in pigmentation, and extremely blendable and easy to use.

I know, their READY line is pretty much perfection 🙂
Aw shoot, I just returned this (in The Love Affair) because I was unsure. Maybe I acted too soon!
Wow thats so pretty!
TBH, this isn’t “natural glow” looking. It’s yellow. I know you love BM these days, and have influenced more than one of my purchases. But check out the Essence gold glowey stuff in the special collex that is out now. It’s all you need.
It is a yellow gold! 🙂 If you’re looking for something more beige, perhaps The Love Affair would suit you better. I don’t think I’ve seen Essence locally, sorry!
Would you say this is more golden and less frosty than Mary Loumanizer? Just curious how they compare.
Definitely more golden compared to Mary Lou-manizer. Slightly less frosted, perhaps a little less metallic.
I swear Christine, you’re so stunning it’s not even funny anymore! 🙂 This suits you well! I might check this out…
You look so fresh, I love it!
You look fantastic here, Christine! Loving your eye makeup too.
Lovely product! To bad it is limited edition!
Hmmm, I’m not sold on this one. Too metallic-gold for me. But I do love your eye makeup!
How shimmery is it? Would you say it is a subtle highlighter or more on the dramatic side?
I’d say it’s on the lighter side of dramatic but not super subtle.
This looks perfect for my deep warm tone!
I am much much too excited right now. I’ve been eyeing this specific product for weeks now, and just couldn’t commit yet. I thought it was incredibly beautiful, and I was enamoured by the Routes des Indes de Chanel though it was a little out of my price range. To see that this one is so similar is making my day right now (: Definitely going to purchase. Thank you Christine!
No problem! 🙂
I tried this in store and it seemed a little warm-ish for me, but I couldn’t help but be bowled over by the quality of the product. Here’s hoping they do some other highlighters in the same vein!!!
Was The Love Affair too warm, too, for you Kate?
They actually only had this one out when I stopped by. I didn’t realise it had a friend!
Thanks for the review. I will have to check out their Ready line for my trip. It may be easier for travel than bringing all of their loose powder jars, too much space. I’ve been wanting to try their powder compact but read mixed reviews about it. I will definitely check this out.
I was waiting to get this one during the VIB sale but they only had The Love Affair, which I was scared would be too cool on me. I think that’s the one I want to try now though–this one is pretty but it is a tad bit too warm gold for me :/
I got this by accident when I ordered The Love Affair and they sent me this instead. I haven’t tried it yet because I do think it’s too warm for me, but I’m hopeful the other one will be just as good.
Gosh, this looks perfect on your skin!!!!!!!
I really like the packaging! It’s nice to see a change from the typical black, i may have to purchase one!
this looks gorgeous and something I’ve been on the look out for! thanks for the post Christine!
This looks STUNNING, I’ve been waiting with baited breath for this review 😀 unfortunately it doesn’t look like this will be available in Australia. None of the Bare Minerals stockists appear to have it. I would just order it in from the US, but I would really rather try this on my skin first, just in case it’s too gold for my tastes.
Not sure if it’s the angle or what, but I think this may be my favorite luminizer on you, ever. Must get it…
Its so exciting to see so many As and A+s this time of year! I’m very, very happy, as always to see more good out there.
The great thing about this line is that it isn’t marked up ridiculously here in Oz. Sure, its still more expensive, but for MAC and many other brands, we’re used to paying 200-300%.
For this line? This’ll be marked up probably another $10, max. Which isn’t (comparatively) bad!
Do you have a picture with flash of you wearing this? I’m not sure if it’s my screen but I can’t really see the sheen.:) Thanks!
No, sorry!
Okay, thanks anyways!:)
Hi Christine, I was wondering what if you think that this would look nice on my NC50 (more neutral) skintone. I’m in the market for a new highlighter. Thanks.
I think so!
Droool like a maniac. Such a lovely finish and tone, putting on my need to test out in store list.
Looks great on you, don’t think it’ll match my fair, cool coloring. Will you be doing a review on Love Affair?
What did you use to apply this?
