bareMinerals The Big Debut Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.09 oz.) is one of six new additions to the brand’s duo range. Long-time readers might remember that I’m a huge fan of the Ready formula, so I always yearn for even more shades. The Big Debut works well for a two-shade look, as one is more shimmery than the other, and there is nice contrast, yet the two easily blend together. It was a good duo overall, though the shades weren’t perfect (and this formula can get to perfect).

Future is described as a “sunset pink.” It’s a light-medium, peachy-pink with a golden, metallic sheen. It had good color payoff, and the texture was soft, buttery, and smooth. On me, the color wore well for eleven hours before fading. Kat Von D Killing Jar (P) is slightly darker, less shimmery. Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Haze #1 (P) is more beige. bareMinerals Ball Gown (LE) is darker, less pink. MAC Artistic License (LE, $15.00) is pinker, less shimmery. Tom Ford Beauty In the Pink #2 (LE) is less peach. theBalm Third Eye Blinded (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. MAC Say, Yeah! (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. bareMinerals Custom Made (LE) is pinker, less peach, more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Center Stage is described as a “deep plum.” It’s a muted, blackened purple with cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had so-so color payoff, though it seemed buildable when I used it on the eye. The texture was soft, slightly powdery but not difficult to use (easy to blend), and the color wore well for eleven hours before fading. Too Faced Jungle Love (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery. MAC Indigo Blend #3 (LE) is warmer. bareMinerals In Vogue (LE) is brighter. bareMinerals Starry Night (LE, $14.00) is more shimmery. Disney by Sephora Wonder by Wonder (LE) is warmer. NARS Demon Lover #2 (P, $24.00) is similar. MAC Spellcaster (LE, $15.00) is similar. Lancome Zip Me Up (P, $19.00) is more shimmery. Giorgio Armani Green Jacquard #4 (LE) is brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I’m really looking forward to your reviews of these duos. I only have the Scenic Route duo from bareMinerals and I’m completely in love with both shades and the quality.

Wow, this is stunningly soft! I have always wanted a very soft, smoky purple eye that would be as mistake-proof. Which brushes did you use here, Christine?

These are the same shadows that are in Shine On 2012 holiday palette except my Center Stage seems more pigmented. The Future shade is the same as Glitterati in the palette.

These look so lush and pretty. The issue of “iffy” purples and how hard it can be to get that shade to be smooth and pigmented and even comes up often here but this duo seems to have got the purple right and combined it with a great pink/peach.

I’ve only tried the lose mineral eye shadows from BM. This duo is very nice. It’s totally in my comfort zone. Unfortunately I find BM too expensive. They cost a lot more here. A lot.
Love your look, by the way, beautiful and well thought out, as always.

This looks great! And it’s at a price point that’s feasible for me. I’ve wanted to try this formula for so long and now maybe I can! Thanks Christine.

Bareminerals eyeshadows were a huge surprise for me. I couldn’t believe how amazing their quads were. If I could only have one eyeshadow quad for the rest of my life it would be The Happy Place. I has every colour you need for the perfect eye, from day to night, including a matte crease colour. I can’t wait to try some of the quads.
