A Tint for Natural Beauty

bareMinerals Berry Remix Loud & Clear Lip Sheer ($15.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “sheer ripe berry.” When swatched, it looks like a sheer, glossy berry pink. Applied, it tints my lip color to a slightly darker pink, but it still looks sheer and natural. It looked similar to NARS Beverly Hills or NARS Cadaques (or really, a mix).

bareMinerals’ Loud & Clear Lip Sheers are supposed to have translucent color, soft shine, and hydrating properties (from shea butter and jojoba seed oil), which is all put into a gel-based formula. Berry Remix is the most “pigmented” shade out of three available; this is the one that had a particularly visible effect of staining my lips. It’s still a very sheer effect, just as bareMinerals described. If you have naturally pigmented lips and hoped to see some tint, this is the one I’d recommend of the three.

The consistency is slick, gel-like, and non-sticky. It glided on easily, and it didn’t drag or pull at the lips. When I applied the Lip Sheer, it almost felt like it melted against my lips. There is a fairly heavy, sweet orange and a slight orange flavor to the product. The stain lasts for three hours or so, and the formula is nicely hydrating and lasts for a short period of time beyond the wear of the product. For someone who wants just a tint of color that looks like they’re not wearing any lip color, except for a little balm for a natural shine, this is right up your alley.

If it had SPF, it’d be worth the $15 pricetag. Alot of tinted balms are moisturizing, and have a minimum SPF 15, and are still half the price. I remember a time when they touted their products as skincare disguised as makeup, and really pushed the SPF in everything, so it really surprises me that there’s none. I had a lot of respect for the brand, but it seems they’re selling out.

My thoughts as well!
I do enjoy some products (mascara, loose and pressed eyeshadow and blushes) but they really lose me when they say their foundation is good for the skin, NO its not! There is no benefit for your skin! For a brand that pushes the idea that the brand is good for the skin their skincare line is sad. If you actually read the ingredients most of their skincare products actually hurt the skin! Their Blemish Therapy, firming eye treatment & Moisture Burst Facial Mist all equal skincell death, just to name a few of the many bad skincare products.
A brand like bareMinerals has all the resources needed to be able to put out a kickass skincare line so I don’t understand why they develop terrible products then make themselves liars by telling us its good.

I understand I may be in the minority here, but I never can comprehend that if you are look for a barly pigmented balm like product why not just go to Wags? It’s a simple product , rather easily and commonly produced nowadays.

You make a good point.
I have to be careful with my money so I likely won’t purchase this. I had to comment (above) because it is one of the few lip products that has grabbed my attention. Bottom line? I think I’m a lip balm kinda gal! Thanks for reminding me I don’t really need this. 🙂

I agree; Burt’s Bees at least has SPF, and it’s half the price. While still a bit pricey, at least it’s comparable in that it’s all-natural. Again, from a company that used to pride itself on “doubling” as skincare, it’s a huge letdown that they’ve been omitting SPF in all their most recent products. I’ll just be sticking with tarte from now on, or LORAC, when looking for less chemical-laden products.

Well, by that definition, why go anywhere beside the drugstore for any product? I like a very subtle lip look most of the time (much to my sisters’ amusement) and I have yet to find my “holy grail” drugstore subtle lip product.

Holy Crow! I don’t go gaga over lippies, but this one has got me gaga-ing all over the place. It looks incredibly moisturizing and comfortable to wear.

I really like this collection. Berry Remix is right up my alley. I do wish they had added some SPF to it, though. That would only make sense.

Wow, if that is the most pigmented out of the bunch that depresses me. I think I’ll stick with the Maybelline Baby Lips, same effect for about half the price.

Love Bare Minerals but I can spend a lot less money for such a small amount of opacity. These are visually appealing, but I’m into more color 🙂

Loved the look of it in the tube but…..where’s the color? I know it’s sheer but for $15 I expect more than what I could get from a tinted chapstick. Too bad, I wanted to love this.

Christine, this looks very similar to the Clinique Almost Lipstick (i.e. Black Honey). How does this compare if you have tried it? I’m curious because I didn’t find those too moisturizing.

This reminds me of a philosophy lip product I have… I can’t remember what it’s called or find it online but… Yeah. I’m not helpful hahaha
