I do like cream eyeshadows or “cream to powder” ones for quick “one and done” looks (I have a hard time blending 2 or 3 cream shadows together). I have a few cream blushes but I don’t use them often or like them that much. If I’m wearing foundation or CC cream, blending them seems to take off the foundation and on my bare skin (with moisturizer/sunscreen) the blending process itself seems to “redden” my cheeks so it’s hard to tell what’s blush and what’s just redness from blending….

I had similar issues with cream blushes but found that a synthetic stipple/duo fiber brush with longer bristles really helps. I usually take some on the back of my hand, tap my brush in lightly and then gently stipple and blend onto the skin. It prevents makeup underneath from lifting or becoming patchy and I don’t end up with extra redness from micro-exfoliation like I did with other brushes. Sigma F15 and Luxie small duo fiber are great but Amazon has two, one from Keshima and another from Beauty Junkees, for less than $10 each that also work really well.

When I do use a cream blush, I use the Real Techniques stipple brush which is much like the one you describe. But all in all, I find it so much easier simply to swipe on some powder blush. I have to “force” myself to use the cream blushes I do have (except for a wonderful cream to powder one from Shiseido).

Yes as my skin gets more mature and slightly drier. I also use less foundation especially on week-ends and find that cream make up is nicer on bare skin.
It has nothing to do with the new trend only that we have more choice in cream make up.
However it’s s been years that I’ve been using only cream eyeshadows.

No, I would have to say that I have pretty much stayed at the same level ever since discovering ColourPop via this site. I do now use cream jumbo pencils or cream to powder eyeshadow as my eyeshadow primer because it seems like my eyes HATE all the usual eyeshadow primers. The few that didn’t bother my eyes would appear to be dc’d. Both were by Nyx.

I have been, but I wasn’t aware it was trending. Started a few years ago when I realized cream products were friendlier to my “maturing” (ie drying out) skin. Lately the Jones Road Miracle Balms have been in heavy rotation.

Definitely. I started by using more cream blushes and discovered the ease of using a cream and then following with a powder or just leaving it if it isn’t too emollient. I think that as I have aged, I like the more natural look of a cream product and have limited using setting powders so that my skin has a healthier and dewier look. I think it gives mature skin a more youthful appearance. I haven’t purchased a cream bronzer yet as I rarely use them but have been thinking about adding one. I think it would be good for summer when I might want to look a little more “tanned” since I don’t tan anymore and I am very pale. I am leaning towards a Chanel product. I have used a like many cream eye products. I like the Chanel and Tom Ford formula. New Moon and Platinum are two of my favorite one-and-done shades. They are easy to blend out around the edges, set down and do not crease on me.
Overall, I think creams work really well for me probably due to my dry, older skin.

No, not really. To be honest I don’t use cream based makeup products at all – liquid foundation, powder blush, powder eyeshadows I guess only creamy lipsticks.
I do believe that some of the bigger makeup brands decide what is going to be ‘in’ this year eg matte lipstick and everyone else follows the trend.

No. I have enough problems figuring out what products work best together for me to add in creams. I have tried a couple of cream blushes from Boxycharm but as others mentioned, it would remove the coverage underneath. I am intrigued by ones that make a good eyeshadow primer for sensitive eyes, like Nancy mentioned.

Also, I don’t want to buy cream products because they don’t last as long as powder. Especially something used directly around the eyes. Liking to try/rotate through different products and not using makeup every day means I wouldn’t be able to finish things before I didn’t feel comfortable using them anymore. That just feels too much like a waste of money for me.
