We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I really wish both BECCA and Marc Jacobs would experience a resurgence and reappear in the makeup world again. But so many companies are releasing really sub-par products now (Tom Ford comes to mind most strongly but Dior, YSL and so many other very high end brands are also charging high prices for crummy products) that I really can’t see any company regaining huge popularity.

I feel like MAC was ahead of its time in the early 2000’s. I’m really rooting for them to regain popularity, but very few products have caught my attention in the last few years.

Once a brand has lost the public’s respect for quality and inovation I think it’s hard to gain their following again……If customers get burned too many times in a row from a once top brand most people just do not take a chance with them again….It’s certainly possible to make a comeback, but it would take something special to make it up the ladder again.

By rights, we probably should have seen more brands bite the dust. Most of our midrange brands are well into maturity. From there comes decline. But Beauty reinvents itself; think of Clinique and their pops. I think many brands we think need resuscitation, like UD, can keep on keepin’ on by virtue of new customers. Newbies probably get excited by 24/7 liners and whatever they’re calling Naked today. Familiarity breeds contempt. Older consumers feel jaded and can compare UD by the decade and see a major downward trend. Newbies have no comparison points and think UD palettes are the cat’s meow. I think some brands, especially that one in millennial pink, are so targeted that sales fall off. Maybe why they joined Sephora. Some brands change their focus. If you said brow, we thought ABH. Now Benefit is the standard. Rather than slide into the m/u graveyard, I think midrange will slide into masstige. Think Lorac. So many brands were haute BITD and available only at Barney’s and now live comfortably at Kohl’s, with stops at Sephora and Ulta along the way. I think UD and Too Faced, for example, lose some of their identity and shine when they are bought out and watered down. I don’t see any regaining former glory. I see hanging on, in some cases for dear life.

That’s a very good question. And it all hinges on whether the brands that have delivered substandard products lately, or even for quite awhile, have a change of management heart and decide to offer only high quality products in the future. I’m looking at Dior, Chanel, Tom Ford and of course Urban Decay (the biggest fall of all), and even CP.

I agree! Bring back the excitement pre-Divine Rose era please! The only “newer” eyeshadow palettes I have from her line are the Bridgerton ones. The rest hail from her original 6 pan MTHRSHP, Midnight Sun and one of the original Blitz Astral quads.

I have a feeling MAC is going to have a resurgence, especially on Tiktok! They had a big moment with the gloss sticks and their releases have been much more exciting lately. I see a lot of people recreating 90’s lip combos with MAC products too <3

LORAC! Love their old shadow formulation with great satin metallics, looked great on the eyes and lasted long…..but now it seems like a ghost of a brand!

I recently purchased the Pro Noir palette on sale (forever looking for cool leaning neutrals to do soft smokey looks!), and I quite like it! I used to own multiple Lorac palettes several years back (think a year or two peak beau-tube era) and I’m actually delighted to have them in my stash again, I think their formula is soft and pigmented, comparable to ABH at their best, and both the shimmer and matte shades swatch and perform beautifully.

I really hope they keep on going, it seems the brand is still loved by artists and long time makeup enthusiasts.
