Are there any categories you're trying buy to less of?

Well, no, duh, not so much for me! Brands just went wild with lip product releases in July, so I’m not going out of my way to purchase more lip products if they aren’t newly-released.

Lipstick, blush, and eyeshadow. A year and a half of rarely wearing any of it during the pandemic made me realize how overboard I had been going with makeup. My whole attitude towards makeup has changed. Although I still love it, I realized that I have so much more than everything I actually need, so my plan for the future is to buy things as they run out, rather than running out to buy every pretty thing that piques my interest.

Hello, fellow magpie. Probably only repurchasing or duping things that go bad and I can’t live without. Like CP Bill SSS. Through Ulta with Ultabucks on recent 20%.

Everything?

But definitely lip products. Between BECCA closing and those lipsticks being on sale a few months ago, the ColourPop lip stains, and the Laura Mercier lipsticks I need to be done buying lip products (and actually I should have been done before I even bought those – fuchsias and cool tone reds gets me every time though.

Blush and eyeshadow because I honestly have all that I need and then some! It’s easier with blush – the shade range is more limited and I also know what tones don’t flatter me. Lately, I’ve only been buying blushes I’ve found deeply marked down at Winners/Marshalls. But eyeshadow is my “drug of choice” – it is such a weakness for me. I should stop but probably won’t and I’m sure to keep buying the same colours over and over again, just with different names!

Base products. I am trying to convince myself that I really need only one foundation and that I can use different application techniques and/or other products mixed in to get different finishes and coverage levels. It is more of a struggle than I care to admit. Also primers, because I know the two that I have are the best formulas for me.

Primers. I’ve gone from 3 to 30 over the past year – and I’m not exaggerating. I guess foundations too, because I got married this year and bought a bunch of new ones trying to find the best for my wedding day. Also blush – that’s actually what I have the most of. Including palettes, I think I could go almost a year of wearing a different blush everyday without repeating…

I have a problem.

Everything. I feel I have isolated products which best suit my current aesthetic in addition to barely wearing makeup. When I do, it’s a matte one and done for my eyes, A hint of bronzer a touch of blush and a clear lip balm. I am now moved and even further out of the loop and while I still enjoy looking at makeup, I rarely buy unless it is something I think supersedes something in stash in terms of formula or something that feels special.

No, I’m quite efficient at buying just what I need. But I want to stop buying complexion products so far an advance. I’m usually good with tracking my makeup and when I need replacements, but somehow I want to buy back-ups for foundation, concealer and powder the second I open the current back-ups. Those are definitely items I don’t want to be about, but it takes me at least 6 months to go through concealer and foundation, there’s no reason to rush into a purchase.

No buy on Cheek products; pandemic times got me used to without and I only wear a light wash of blush and highlighter anyway—probably because I prefer smoky eyes and a bright lip. But I am on a low buy with lips though once I realized I keep buying the similar shades repeatedly and I’m duping my own collection.

I have too much of everything except for brow products and primers. I’m actively talking myself out of trying all of the new cream blushes and bronzers out now because I know they will go bad before I can use them up.

So pretty much everything.
I have what I need and am now going through my stash and editing it down.
2 categories I definitely don’t need more of are lip products and eyeshadows .
Also I have finally found base products that I’m happy with so done with that for now.
So now my plan is just replacing my basic staples .

I’m *always* trying to buy less of lip products and highlighters. And I’m always buying more. But at least I’ve really taken the eyeshadow palette buying down a notch.
