I’m not a big follower of influencers, so I don’t know the lady in question but based on her selection of colours here, I’m going to track her down. This looks gorgeous. My only issue is that Lituation and Sponsored look exactly alike in the swatches but hopefully the differences are apparent in person

Mariella Avatar

Same here – I’ve no idea who she is and “influencers” are a bit of a thorn in my side but this palette looks like it could be a nice one. I’ll wait to see the reviews (and also the Canadian price) and then make my decision.

Kitty Avatar

That’s actually quite pretty and intriguing. Unfortunately, Sephora (so far) shows ingredients for only 6 of the 14 shades. I don’t know if ABH site shows ingredients or not, but I may not be able to purchase if I don’t know the ingredients of the remaining 8. 🙁 Hopefully another site will be more thorough.

I don’t condone Jackie Aina’s bullying style every time someone tries to contradict her or to point to something that goes against her rants, therefore this collaboration is an easy pass for me. Don’t be a hypocrite yourself while calling out hypocrisy in others.

Alecto Avatar

Nice colors, but Ginger and Lituation seem completely unnecessary … unless …

Okay, no shade on Jackie Aina or her choices, truly, but I’ve recently been looking at palettes with an eye toward how I would do things differently, and I’m going to indulge myself here: it If you read the arm swatches as groups of four (two left column, two right column), starting at the top, I feel like you could get the same-enough looks by averaging Zamn and Soleil and making that one color, putting Sponsored in the empty slot, removing Edges entirely and replacing with Ginger, and Putting Lituation in Sponsored’s old slot. That would leave twelve shadows that make sense as groups of four, but also reduce sameness across the palette in case one wants to wander outside the obvious groups of four.

Having said that — nice palette, Jackie! (I even like the case.)

This is a very pretty palette and the shades look really pigmented. The copy seems to imply that this is a new formula stating that it is unique and that there are pressed pigments so will be interesting to see how the launch goes. In general, I like ABH shadows although I get a lot of kicked up powder when applying. I don’t usually get any fall out though.

The girls from Beauty News said “the beauty community finds this offensive,” and then one of them said, “I guess I’m with the community on this one.” I did some Googling to try to figure out what people might find offensive about Jackie Aina, and I just don’t… I don’t get it. Like, unless you’re really racist? I guess? Or you’re so humorless that you don’t get the joke of naming a green color ‘Sponsored’.

This palette looks GORGEOUS. I’m excited to see Trust Issues and Supreme in person. And like Nancy T says, Jackie has shown she has integrity and only wants to attach herself to quality.

Kate Avatar

Indeed. What exactly has Jackie said that’s been so polarizing or offensive? In researching her, she has been upfront about her feelings regarding the lack of inclusion in the cosmetic industry, but other than that, I don’t see anything that would be off-putting. My only guess is that if you have a problem with Jackie, most likely you might have a problem with acknowledging or dealing with issues of race. And if that’s the case, you’re not alone, but the only way to resolve any issues it for all sides to first acknowledge the fact that there are issues. Jackie seems not to have a problem with putting what she believes the issues to be on the table. If there’s something else that is bothersome about her, I would love be to be educated. To just say you don’t like her without stating a reason why, seems to be a little unfair. Put it on the table, ladies and gents.

K Avatar

I dislike her intro so much- if I decide to watch her video, I skip that part. She grates on my nerves and for a couple of years I just avoided watching her completely. That being said- some of her opinions are on point and the palette looks good. My feelings about her wouldn’t stop me from buying a good palette because it’s not that deep. (Not J* deep. ?).

Carrie Mansfield Avatar

Basically, she’s quick to cry she’s being bullied, even as she can behave like one herself. She’s accused others of theft on the basis of the other person “knowing her e-mail” and nothing else. When people started pushing back on that (because that’s just not something you do) she cried bullying and blocked people left, right and center. Just…not cute.

Brian Avatar

It’s very old drama between her and Petty Paige. She accused Petty Paige of stealing money from her with no proof and it was proven false. She made the accusation on Youtube, which is her biggest platform and Paige asked her to apologize on Youtube as it is where she made the accusation and where her largest following is and Jackie refused. She apologized on twitter I believe? Anyway, I like Jackie but this was not her finest moment.

Jolanda Avatar

I have no idea who Jackie is, but on the otherhand I still don’t know who the last influencer is they collaberated with. For me that is not a selling point. I judge a palette on its colors, quality and how it fits in my stash and preferences. I like the colors, so maybe I pick it up. But I will wait to see more swatches, check the dupes I may have to copy the looks people create with it. Europe is always a little behind so I have time. I don’t feel the rush to get it.

Jessica Avatar

Like many influencers, Jackie Aina has done and said some problematic things. But she has also been a staunch advocate for greater visibility and inclusivity for POC in the beauty community. For that, mad respect.

I think the palette is beautiful and wish her success.

Cecelia Avatar

It looks like a nice palette but it’s a combination of the MR, Norvina, and Sultry palettes. I feel like ABH always has the opportunity to branch out and they always go right back to playing it safe by adding very similar neutrals and shimmers in their palettes. Then they add a pop of color or two to make the palettes somewhat different from one another so that people with multiple ABH palettes will feel inclined to buy them anyway. I like the quality of ABH shadows so I might find myself falling for the hype again if the reviews are good but I can’t help but feel a bit ripped off every time. (I don’t watch Jackie Aina’s videos or follow the drama so my feelings towards her didn’t influence my opinion.) I just want to see ABH do something that we haven’t seen before.

Hénomis Avatar

OMG my thoughts exactly: it’s always about those warm neutrals and then a couple of pops of whatever. But I actually think this palette is a bit different. Not sure what I’ll do yet, but the colour story differs from the other permanent palettes…

Z Avatar

Pink, orangey brown, mauve, etc… easy pass for me. I don’t know who she is and can’t be bothered to look her up, but we have different shadow styles.

Yolanda Avatar

I’m going to purchase this only in support of Jackie Aina. I don’t like ABH palettes, maybe this time will be the charm. If we don’t support collaborations with POC, that makes it that much harder for others to follow in their footsteps. As an African American woman, I do look to influencers like Jackie Aina to see how certain products look and perform on someone with my complexion. I’ve purchased lots of things because of beauty influencers that I otherwise wouldn’t have had any interest in trying.

Adwoa Avatar

I’m very excited about this and will be grabbing it! I don’t usually get excited about influencer collabs but I love what Jackie stands for. I’m also really loving the shades and looks she has created so far.

Jackie Avatar

I don’t follow influencers so the name means nothing to me (I could do a big rant on the whole “influencer” thing). But I like ABH shadows and at first glance this palette has me interested. However, I think I’ll need to swatch this myself before I decide if I’m going to purchase.

Microbella Avatar

I don’t need anymore eyeshadow palettes but I’m going to get this one for the sole reason that Jackie Aina describes on Instagram. There are so many palettes that I have bought from other big names brands: UD, Lorac, mac etc knowing full well that I couldnt use *ALL* the shades not because they were not to my taste/liking but because they looked ashy, chalky or just disappeared into my dark complexion. These palettes weren’t designed with my deep skin tone in mind. Lately, I’ve decided to spend my money on brands that have cheek, lip and eye products that work for my skin tone…not just those hyping on the 40+ foundation shade range they suddenly felt inclined to launch but yet only offer blushes that are too pale and chalky for my skin (**looking straight at you tarte, UD and too faced****)

Sigourney Avatar

I love Jackie and I love that the shades all look like they’ll work on my tan skin. A lot of the shades I don’t have a dupe of in my collection, so it’ll be a great addition. Wiggalese and Sponsored are so gorgeous.

Kira Avatar

I hadn’t heard of Jackie Aina before but I love this color story. I don’t like the packaging though. Because of the divisive reactions, I looked her up and I could not determine what issues people take with her – she seems like an over-the-top jokester, which I like.

Helene Avatar

I had never heard of Jackie Aina, I don’t really follow any influencer, I may watch a video now and then, and follow links to some new, for me, one, but mostly I’ve no clue who it is when brands do these collabs. That said, this palette looks really pretty and it might find its way to my collection depending on reviews. I do like how the colours look good on all the skin tones shown.
I’ve not bought any eye shadow palettes from ABH since Subculture, and I do like it, but I’ve had dupes for most of the shades in the following palettes. I might have dupes for most in this one as well. I’ll know if Christine does review it.

Van Avatar

I’m so happy to see this collaboration. I love her sense of humor, and her outspokenness even more. Her video “I Don’t See Color – A Makeup Tutorial” was great commentary on how harmful the concept of colorblindness is: instead of acknowledging our differences and that people may experience life another way because of those differences, we pretend they’re not there, and problems that disproportionately affect people go unaddressed. As she put so well, “Why is it that you get to ignore something that I don’t get to ignore? The cops don’t ignore my skin color.” I have so much respect for her. These shadows don’t look bad either.

MichelleChefNYC Avatar

I love Jackie and I like the color scheme to this so I will definitely be picking this up. I hate describing her as an Influencer, because I feel like that term is a turn off for many people… her YouTube channel is great, and I love her over the top personality and honest reactions to things.

Kuávsui Avatar

At first glance I thought this might be too deep and warm for me but there’s a lot of shades that I have wanted to try – the reds and purples mainly, but the green-tone gold really pulled me in. I might just have to get my first ABH palette! Congrats to Jackie, loving this Leo season present ??♌️

Jamie Avatar

I will be waiting for you to review this palette as their last Alyssa Edwards palette I was very hesitant to buy as I just didn’t feel it was up to the quality that I see with ABH. This also has me on the fence and I’m looking forward to your honest review.

Bonnie Avatar

I think I’m here for this. I really don’t follow Jackie, so the drama is news to me, but often these types of collabs make me check out a YouTuber I hadn’t before, at least to see them reveal their own collab. As of now, though, once I got my first ABH palette, I began collecting. So this one will almost certainly be joining the others. My skin is a golden tan all year, and I find many of the releases and brands designed for POC work really well for me.

Lea Avatar

It’s not for me. Drama aside, this palette just isn’t my colour story. It’s curated for a deeper skin tone, and that makes absolute sense. Every shade I do like, I have elsewhere in another palette or something similar enough that I don’t need this. I’m not into ABH either. I feel reluctant after the whole Subculture thing.

CW Avatar

Gorgeous palette and packaging. I’m definitely supporting Jackie!! She’s not perfect and neither is anybody else. You tube is filled with less deserving influencers who still receive tons of support…so why not Jackie…She deserves to WIN too!!❤️??
