Anastasia Fall 2016 Lipgloss Set

Anastasia Fall 2016 Mini Lip Gloss Set ($28.00 for 0.42 oz.) includes six, miniature-sized glosses in six, new and exclusive shades. I’m a big fan of Anastasia’s gloss formula for something more pigmented, longer wearing, and hydrating over time. On the whole, the set is nice–the colors are very autumnal, and for the most part, they applied well, had good color coverage, and were moisturizing and comfortable to wear.

Amber is a muted, medium-dark peach with warm, orange undertones and a cream finish. It had good pigmentation with a creamy, smooth consistency that applied evenly but had some color gather into lip lines. This shade lasted for four and a half hours on me and was hydrating over time. Bite Beauty Eight (Watercolor) (LE, ) is lighter, less pigmented (90% similar). MAC Grand Pumpkin (LE, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). Chanel Exotique (12) (P, $34.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Live It Up (LE, $21.00) is lighter (85% similar). Sephora Fresh Mango (26) (P, $12.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). NYX Cherry Cheesecake (P, $5.00) is warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Berry is a rich, dark reddish plum with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish. The pigmentation was fantastic–fully opaque–and distributed evenly across the lips. The consistency was lightweight, smooth, and mostly non-tacky throughout the wear. The gloss wore well for five hours on me and was hydrating over time.
MAC Perpetual Holiday (P, $24.00) is darker (95% similar). NARS Unspeakable (P, $26.00) is cooler (95% similar). NARS Plato's (LE, $26.00) is brighter (95% similar). Tarte WCW (P, $20.00) is warmer (95% similar). NARS Deviant (P, $26.00) is warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Apocalypse (DC, $26.00) is lighter, more muted (90% similar). MAC Modern Drama (LE, $20.00) is lighter (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Fatale (P, $54.00) is brighter, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Sookie (LE, $10.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Lasting Achievement (DC, $19.50) is darker, warmer (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Carla is a bold, medium-dark red with cool, blue undertones and a cream finish. The texture was smooth, fairly lightweight, and spread evenly across the lips. It had nearly opaque color coverage, which covered the lips well and did not appear streaky or feather over time. On my lips, the color lasted for five hours and was moisturizing. Cle de Peau Lempicka Red (18) (P, $48.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Send Me Sailing (LE, $21.00) is lighter (90% similar). Cle de Peau Bugatti Red (17) (P, $48.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). MAC Utterly Tart (LE, $21.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Revlon HD Carnelian (545) (DC, $8.99) is lighter (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Maple is a dark, reddish brown with warm undertones and gold and copper shimmer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a smooth, creamy consistency that felt comfortable on the lips, but it did not apply as evenly as it could have. It wore well for four and a half hours and was hydrating while worn. Smashbox Brains 'n' Bronze (P, $24.00) is darker (90% similar). Lancome Cuivre Casting (08) (P, $22.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Bite Beauty Bronze Pearl (DC, $22.00) is warmer (90% similar). Bite Beauty Rose Pearl (DC, $22.00) is more shimmery, less pigmented (90% similar). Anastasia Rum (P, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Smashbox Girl, Please (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). NARS Aragon (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter (80% similar). MAC Oh Baby (P, $21.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (80% similar). Lancome Iron Nude (12) (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Raisin is a muted, medium-dark pinky mauve with neutral-to-cool undertones paired with a cream finish. The consistency seemed a bit thicker, and it didn’t seem to look as smooth on the lips, as it emphasized my lip lines (without really settling into them), particularly on my lower lip. It was richly pigmented, though, and the color spread evenly across the lips. This shade wore nicely for just over five hours on me, and it felt moisturizing to me. NARS Bound (P, $26.00) is lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Rum is a deep, reddish brown with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It was intensely pigmented with full-color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly on the lips. The texture was creamy, smooth, and comfortable to wear over the five hours it lasted. Makeup by Mario Mocha Raisin (P, $24.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). NARS Area (P, $26.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Chestnut (P, $21.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Feelin' So Good (LE, $21.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). Anastasia Maple (P, $16.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Christian Louboutin Beaute Casanovella (P, $85.00) is cooler (85% similar). Smashbox Girl, Please (P, $24.00) is lighter (85% similar). NARS Aragon (P, $26.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). ColourPop La Vida Mocha (LE, $10.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). Anastasia Fudge (-, $16.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Formula Overview

Anastasia Lip Gloss ($16.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is supposed to be “opaque” with “high-shine” that’s “non-drying.” It is one of the more pigmented lipglosses out there that has a smoother, more cushion-y consistency that typically spreads well across the lips. Some shades gather in lip lines, and some shades apply streaky; it seems more common with lighter shades and milkier colors. The formula is non-sticky initially and develops slight tackiness over time. My experience from wearing the formula is that they are often lightly to moderately hydrating and wear three to five hours. They have a vanilla scent that isn’t too overpowering nor does it linger once applied (I notice it mostly in the tube).

Way nice set. Great colors. Great way to try, if you haven’t been there yet. The ‘where to buy’ tab has all the usual suspects, rather than being an abh exclusive. Correct me, if I’m wrong.

Ah, so. Thanks. Ironic that you answered my ? for ACP, ahead of me in the queue, but then explained that the where to buy down drops the usual sellers. Thanks. There is absolutely no need to have the tab do it by individual item. That would involve massive coding, and we can def look it up.

Very nice set! I was drawn to Maple even though I’m not usually drawn to warm colours! I also like Raisin and the others with the possible exception of Amber which is a little pale for me. Interesting there’s only one dupe for Raisin.

Oooh, Rum is so perfect!! So glad these got good ratings– ABH is the only gloss formula I like! I need a friend to split the set with. 🙂

All beautiful, but I only need Maple from this set, and there are no close dupes. I think if I got either UD lipstick in Conspiracy or UD Vintage lipstick in Roach, and added some gloss to it, I might be able to get close.

I have this set and the summer set. I love these glosses! They are so comfortable yet long-lasting and have amazing pigmentation. Many shades remind me of NYX Intense Butter Glosses but I like tbe consistency of the ABH glosses better. Maple is definitely a stand out in this ser.

I noticed that these are made in China (PRC). Very disappointing.
I will not buy mu made there. Their standards for manufacturing are not well defined.
Bummer, these look really nice.
