MAC Nudes & Metallics Eyeshadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches (Part 2)
MAC Brazenly Eyeshadow
MAC Nudes & Metallics Eyeshadows ($15.00 for 0.05 oz.) include eight shades in total, and these are three of them. I grouped these three together as they were all in the Metallics family. This post features: Brazenly (deep metallic purple), Crimson Tryst (deep metallic dirty berry), Deep Fixation (metallic brown). I do not have Love’s Lure (heavily metallic deep red) at this time.
Brazenly is described as a is a purple-berry with a frosted finish and red undertones. It had good color payoff, and the texture was blendable and applied smoothly. There was a smidgen of dryness to it that didn’t seem to impair the overall quality, though. Jasmine Master is purpler. OCC Overlook is lighter and less berry (purpler). Urban Decay Last Call is not as dark but similar. NARS Caravaggio #2 is more violet, less berry. Le Metier de Beaute Fig is not as red but is similar. Inglot #446 is purpler but similar in finish.
Crimson Tryst is described as a “deep metallic dirty berry.” It’s a deepened red with berry hues and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was excellent, and the texture was soft and smooth. MAC Cranberry is darker, less red. Le Metier de Beaute Fire Lily is redder and warmer. NARS Douce France #3 is similar in color but is matte. Inglot #450 is very similar–even a bit more metallic.
Deep Fixation is described as a “metallic brown.” It is a darkened, coppery brown with a pearly sheen. It is incredibly pigmented with a rich, smooth texture. MAC Ever Elegant is darker, browner. Guerlain Les Fauves #1 is much browner. MAC Faux Gold isn’t as coppery, slightly browner. MAC Antiqued is much browner. theBalm Racy Kacy is very similar, perhaps not quite as warm-toned. NARS California is not quite as intense but is rather close in color.
All three shades had good color payoff, while Deep Fixation was particularly intense and opaque. There was a very slight dryness to Brazenly, and none of the three I tried felt as buttery as MAC’s best Veluxe Pearls (think Freshwater). Each applied well on the lid with true-to-pan intensity and was blendable. When I wore them together, they lasted for a full eight hours without fading or creasing; after nine hours, there was a hint of fading. I’m so sad that this collection is PRO only and not easily accessible, because it’s such a solid set of products. Some shades are more or less dupable, but they’re still shades that I could see a lot of people gravitating towards.
P.S. — The Nudes & Metallics Collection may be frustrating to find. When it launched in PRO stores on the 18th, every store I called was sold out of over half the collection already. The online launch date has been pushed to mid-June (no specific date was given). It is supposed to be for PRO only, which may mean that it is restricted to PROs only even online, but you should be able to call MAC PRO at 1-800-387-6707 and order (for anyone, PRO and non-PRO alike) per a LiveChat I did this morning.

oh wow, these are so pigmented. A lot of these shades would be perfect for the fall time!
It’s so upsetting that these are going to be impossible to get. They’re absolutely stunning. 🙁
These are gorgeous! But they are more autumnal.. a lot of collections lately are making me wish it was Halloween lol.
I agree. I’m so much more into spring/summer colors and I just don’t feel it for these autumnal ones. I like them, but don’t feel like spending on them right now.
I would love to get Brazenly but I am so fed up with MAC’s “methods” that make it hard for people to get their hands on products they want that I just refuse to go out of my way to get these products. After all, it is “only” makeup. I can most certainly find a dupe that is easier to purchase. It irks me that I cannot get some of these products at my local MAC counter, which is the place I like to give my business, or even at the nearest MAC store (this was the case with several of the pigments – I wanted samples before buying and am left with no option but to order the full size and “hope” I will like them. Screw THAT!)
oh my. those are gorgeous. i “need” them.
Christine! How would Deep Fixation compare to Urban Decay Snakebite or Smog?
Both of those are way browner! Not really coppery. You’d need a mix of Chopper/Baked, I think.
They are all very beautiful shadows..Wow! They certainly have more of a traditional fall feel to them, but I think they are killer shades nonetheless.
Brazenly is gorgeous, though the rest run too warm or me. The fact that seem sold out everywhere is not to my taste. I think I’m just burnt out on MAC LE collections. I just can’t find the energy or drive to go after them when there’s such a small window to act on it. It’s a shame because I really like a lot of their products.
It’s so hard to resist colors like these! Thanks for swatching and reviewing them.
Soooo pretty!
Do you know if you’ll be getting Love’s Lure? That’s really the only one I was interested in, as I seem to have shades that are similar to these 3, and I just can’t resist a red.
Hi Amy,
If I do, it wouldn’t be until June when I can try to order online – I called 5 PRO stores and none had it, and that was on the 18th.
Thanks! I have a feeling that would be the one that’s first to sell out… MAC hasn’t done a red shadow in ages, and I think people will want it even if it’s just for the novelty of having a red eyeshadow. It looks like I may have to hit ebay, LOL! I have this sick obsession with red eye products; I have to have them *all*.
That was my guess – if it’s red, people will buy it just to have it. 🙂 Whether it’s blush, eyeshadow, or lipstick!
I really think I need all of these… Hopefully I’ll be able to get my hands on them!
I wish those would become permanent!!!
Oh that crimson tryst is so gorgeous!!! Probably a good think I won’t be able to buy it because I have bought TOO much lately. And I agree with everyone else about running all over the place to get something by MAC. Been there, done that and now? Not so much. Lucky for us, there are lots of other brands to choose from.
How does brazenly compare with nocturnelle?
Brazenly is way redder! Not so much a purple.
Lovely colors! I really love MAC eyeshadows! ♥
Hi Christine! I thought this collection was PRO only?
It is PRO only – it says such at the end of the post as well as “where to buy” in both the FAQ and before the Glossover!
I would love to buy some pieces of this collection but I’m not going to bend over backwards for it.mac is just getting ridiculous with this whole limited edition thing especially now with them making pro only collections.
WOWWW, SO BEAUTIFUL! <3
brazenly looks pretty nice 🙂
agree, I’ll probably get it 🙂
Adore all 3 of those colours. They’re all so beautiful! I have no idea how you even order PRO stuff in the UK. I’m pretty sure we only have 1 PRO shop and it’s at the oppostite end of the country 🙁
Omg i love all of them!
Is sketch like a matte version of brazenly?
Closer to Cranberry – I think Sketch is too brownish.
Brazenly looks really similar to Alice Copper in thebalm’s Balm Jovi palette, which my favourite in that palette! Crimson Tryst looks like everything I wish Cranberry was *drool*
