Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: I have some new MAC lipsticks to swatch, along with Tom Ford’s winter collection…
Weekend plans: I did get some photos/swatches done during the week, but I need to finish up editing photos and uploading them to the database. This week totally got away from me, as I went to pick up three more bottle babies on Tuesday that we were hoping to integrate with Mittens, my prior bottle baby, but the new three turned out to be very sick upon intake. As a result, Mittens is with a friend of mine that fosters, while I tend to the three sick babies. (One of them spent the first two nights at the ER, but she is back with her siblings with me now.)
Mittens is doing GREAT! I was not expecting to foster her for the long haul, as she was kind of an in-between foster until a bigger group of orphans needed a place to land, but it was hard letting her go so soon and unexpectedly!
Do you collect anything? Not any more! In the past, Tom Ford Private Blend perfumes.
This week's doggo photo/video...

They’re like adorable little bear cubs!
Recent Purchases: Anastasia Beverly Hills Loose Powder in Banana (a better shade for me than Vanilla, which is the shade I’m just finishing) and Lancôme Hypnôse EDP.
Weekend Plans: Finishing the cleanup of my computer, laundry, visiting family
Do you collect anything? I go through phases of collecting. These days it’s fragrances, a rather expensive hobby.
The puppy looks so cute It sounds like they are keeping you quite busy, Christine.
I have noticed that your focus has changed here on the blog and I imagine that having the puppies has kept you quite busy. I hope the sick little ones make a full recovery.
Haul: Estee Lauder foundation brush, Chantecaille Le Matte Stylo in Lobelia, Givenchy Lipstick in Fearless, Pat McGrath Glow Highlighter in Lunar Allure and Venus Nectar. I purchased the Venus Nectar for my daughter. I also purchased the Cle de Peau Luminous Highlighter in the shade Twilight Glow. I am looking for an older discontinued shade #18 Pink/Orange. So far the only ones I have found have been out of my price range. Even I cannot afford to spend a few hundred on one highlighter/blush. Most of the shades are blushes on me.
Weekend plans: Not much. I have a tiny cold and will likely spend the weekend rewatching Bridgerton as I am hoping that when the strike ends, we might get season 3, ASAP.
Collections: I actually have collected quite a few things over the years and to some degree, regret it now. While my collections are beautiful to look at, they are just gewgaw’s in the end and living in the wilds of Montana has likely taken whatever value they had, to zero. My daughter’s taste is completely different to mine so she has no interest in having any of it. So, I have a ton of hand painted porcelain, fine glass and Harrison Fisher prints.
I am behind for the first time in two years, lol! Like I normally have a few weeks of content mostly written and scheduled, but the bottle babies have kept me busier than usual. I think it’s less sleep + more stress vs. them taking up time just in care, since they sleep a lot. Hoping to get back on track this weekend, though!
I am sure you will get caught up. I am wondering if you are planning on reviewing the Tom Ford holiday release? I am trying to decide if I want the shadow palette. I like the colors in the palette but in the past I haven’t been a big fan of TF’s shadow formula. I know they have changed the formula but I don’t know if it is for the better or worse. I also am interested in the actual shades. I trust your swatches and descriptions of the colors and the dupes. I am in no hurry but don’t want to wait around if you have no plans to review it. Thank you, Christine.
I am! I did not get one quad until late, so I don’t have that one swatched yet, but the Rose Tease, I think, one I did!
Recently bought the ND I need a Nude palette but wasn’t sure how well it would show up on my medium dark skin. Liking it so far, but haven’t tried all the shades yet.
Going to cheer my son at the Columbus marathon this Sunday. His second marathon of the year!
Long time lurker, have trusted the reviews here for years. Enjoy reading the comments too.
I love the look of the I Need A Nude Palette but since I have so much makeup I haven’t purchased it. I am glad to hear that it shows up well on medium skin tones as my daughter has a medium skin tone and I thought this might be a good palette for her. There are some really beautiful shades in the palette. Glad to hear from you here on the blog. I lurk around a lot of blogs also but there is a wonderful community of makeup lover’s here on Temptalia as I am sure you know.
So glad that this trio has been reunited! Looking at them, they kinda make me think of little teddy bears. And their markings look German Shepherd or a related breed, but something Husky in their build, hmm 🤔
Purchases/rediscoveries: Just another bottle of The Ordinary Multi-peptides & HA Serum. Haven’t worn any makeup this week.
Weekend plans: Zoom meeting tomorrow morning. And since I never got around to doing what I was supposed to last weekend, yeah, that. Also trying to prepare myself mentally for my head and neck CT scan and ultrasound of my carotid and intracranial arteries on Monday. Just been feeling very overwhelmed and depressed about it all.
Do you collect anything? Besides a truckload of neglected makeup, LOL? Cats! They just seem to find me. Perhaps I’m a cat whisperer, eh? At the present time, I have just these two all black floofballs Penelope and Cole. However, there was once a short 4-5 months where I had 9, 4 of which were kittens of a pretty much untameable semi-feral cat, Phoebe, Pookie’s littermate. Unfortunately, Phoebe was crazy aggressive towards the other cats and would attack us when we tried to get her back into the kittening room and not making mincemeat out of the other 4 adult cats.
You and Shaun are doing an amazing job fostering those orphaned puppies and it must have been a very worrying time for you this week after visiting the ER with one of them. It’s great news that Mittens is gaining strength and overcoming her earlier obstacles. These puppies look enchanting and they have certainly landed into a great foster home.
Recent Purchases: Just a couple of skincare items, a Givenchy lipstick – Le Rouge Interdit that was at a ridiculously low price on an Aus online retailer, plus a bottle of MUFE Skin Perfecting Foundation in Pastel Beige.
Rediscoveries: None this week.
Weekend Plans: My plans are fairly low key this weekend as I am getting over a beast of a head cold. I first thought it was covid, again, but no – just a plain, old horrible head cold.
The weather has been quite topsy turvy here – warm for a couple of days and then back to winter again.
I will just venture out to exchange my library books and do a bit of grocery shopping, now that I am feeling quite a bit better.
Do I Collect Anything? No, not really – except for my makeup and pefrume in a very small way.
No purchases
No plans this weekend,
Christine, you are a saint, rescuing and fostering puppies!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Caliray mascara mini after I realized the Tarte tubing mascara might be irritating my eyes. It’s easy to remove and no irritation just yet.
Weekend plans: I’m supposed to go to the show (musical theater) my husband plays guitar in with one of my coworkers tomorrow night. That is if my migraine ever subsides.
Do I collect anything? I have a large collection of books, mostly focusing on vintage sci fi paperbacks, but I really love any old book with a cool cover. I also collect makeup books but that collection is still kinda small. We have a large collection of vinyl records that we actually do play as well.
I’m not even going to disagree respectfully about Caliray. My mascara gripes are removal and this was second worst to Eyeko. (Had to borrow a jackhammer….) Caliray is advertised as tubing which means the tubes should slide off w/warm water and face wash. For me, that was total BS. Bioderma did zero. Garnier biphase smeared it without lifting it. Used Clean It Zero, which got in my eyes…BUT it emulsified it. Still raccooning after second cleanse. Used Purito from green cleansing oil that does not irritate when it gets in your eyes. I’d give the Caliray points on slight thickening and that (oddly) it got better with age.
Obviously YMDV. I thought Wendy should go back and fix UD and forget the new endeavor. Glad it worked for you.
Purchases: Another tube of Lise Watier Sun Smart (I bought one a few months ago but it’s the larger size and won’t pass in my carry on products so I needed the smaller one). Other than that, I don’t think I’ve purchased anything though I KEEP trying to buy the Ouai St. Barts Body Cream. While it’s now showing as in stock at the Sephora near my gym, they’ve STILL not unpacked the boxes so it’s not on the shelf and the other Sephora also seems incapable of keeping it in stock – it flies off the shelves as soon as they restock it.
Weekend plans: gym, returning library materials that will probably become overdue while we’re away and doing the last of my packing….I KNOW I’ll forget something but I keep telling myself “I can always buy what I’ve forgotten…”
Do I collect anything? Food-shaped serving dishes (sounds dreadful, I know but I’ve some lovely serving pieces shaped like romaine lettuce leaves and a pumpkin teapot and a few other things; my children shudder when I remind them that I’ll leave these things to them in my will). Also cookbooks – I love old style, hold in your hands cookbooks and if they have photos, so much the better. And like most people who sew, fabric though I’m trying to curb that a bit and make a dent in the fabric I already have.
Your food-shaped serving dishes sounds absolutely delightful.
Try telling that to my (adult) children!
You must be getting so excited for your trip. When you mentioned collecting cookbooks it reminded me that I have quite a collection of them also. I generally purchase a cookbook whenever I travel to a new area. I find them to be a wonderful souvenir that is actually usable.
My daughter gave me the sample size of the Ouai perfume that is included in the birthday gift from Sephora this year and I love the scent. She doesn’t like anything floral and so I am going to check into picking up that scent.
Like your children, Aislinn has no interest in anything I have except a couple of pieces of silver. her taste in everything except makeup, is completely different from mine. I have a few pieces that were made by my grandfather and father and I told her she has to keep those even if she doesn’t like them but I have been thinking recently that that isn’t a great idea as she has no interest in having children so those pieces would just be junked when she gets older. So, trying to decide which of my nephews might have children who would appreciate getting them.
My local Sephora was out of the Ouai birthday gift and I regret NOT going to another location to get it – I got the Glow Recipe one and it’s garbage. I do like the Melrose Place scent (I’m guessing that’s the one that was in the b-day gift) but really love the smell of the St. Barts body products and they don’t make that as a separate fragrance (I checked their own site too) – just the scrub and body wash, which I have, and the body cream which has eluded me!
I will check out the St. Barts scent. I have only ever tried one Glow Recipe product and it was a mask and I wasn’t overly impressed with it either. I certainly didn’t like it enough to buy more. I know a lot of people swear by their products but nothing stands out to me and I am more interested in ingredients that have some proven efficacy.
Haul: Tried out a NYX liquid eyeliner to beat the Stila or Pat McGrath, but sadly, it doesn’t give me as clean of a line or have the same staying power.
Weekend plans: I have a lot more energy again today, so I’m hoping to get caught up on some work and ease back into using an elliptical to rebuild some strength. I am starting Season 12 of Doctor Who, so I’ll probably also sneak in some more episodes. Season 11 kind of dropped off in writing quality, so I stepped away from the series, but I was really excited to hear that the super charming Ncuti Gatwa will be in Season 14, so I’m getting caught up!
Collections: I technically “use” all of these things but would consider my quantity and ongoing interest in acquisition to constitute “collections”: art (especially Chinese and Japanese antiques), new art from living artists, makeup, and legos. I used to collect books, but I try to get donate or give away books now that I don’t anticipate rereading.
