Formula Overview
$36.00/0.12 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be a "creamy, hydrating matte with a slight sheen" that is "long wearing and non drying." The three shades launched to-date are very pigmented with a lightly creamy, velvety texture that is thicker (but not heavy!) compared to the Insanely Saturated formula but has a similar velvety quality--smooth, glides on but doesn't feel wet or slippery at all.
The colors went on evenly and smoothly and were more flattering on (less prone to emphasizing lip texture or lip lines) than the average matte lipstick. They wear was between five and seven hours well, and they felt neither drying nor hydrating over time. There is no scent or taste to the formula.

I have had this lipstick for the summer and I love it. It pulls more pink on me but I love the texture, it doesn’t sink into my lip lines or bleed up into my crevices above my lips! The color is one of my favorite colors to wear. Maybe it is my undertone that makes it appear more cool on my lips. I honestly have loved every lipstick I have purchased from Lisa’s line.
Beautiful tone of pink-rose! I’ve held off from buying the Lisa Eldridge Velvet lipstick formula after hearing so many YouTubers describe their heartbreak when these just snapped off at the base even though barely rolled up enough to apply. In our warmer climate, this might not be an issue though.
Thank you for the information, Nancy. I have several of Lisa’s lipsticks and haven’t had any issues but I will be more careful from now on. The packaging on this line is a little sturdier than the previous lines. The bullet is bigger around and has a really strong magnetic closure so I didn’t worry about breakage.
Three of mine have done exactly that. I’ve applied lipstick for decades and for sure I might have broken one or two during the years, but never three from the same brand. It’s such a pity, I really like the velvet ones a lot.
I’m sort of happy I’m not alone with this problem. I should have reached out to the brand immediately, but I did think it was me all of a sudden being unable to apply lipstick.
I’ve heard they are great about replacing.
I’ve also heard that, unfortunately I didn’t bother to reach out to them and the incidents happened years ago.
I will still buy lipsticks, I know I need to be careful when applying.
I live in a place where we have four seasons, the warmest days it can reach about 30 or so degrees Celsius, not very hot in other words. It can get quite cold in the winter butt not as bad as further north, just about 19-15 degrees minus, still Celsius.
I’m not sure this helps at all, and I cant recall if I broke mine in the summer or any of the cooler seasons.
I don’t mean to dissuade you, but I live in a super warm climate as well. My copy of Velvet Carnival completely snapped at the base after ten-ish uses. It’s a really huge issue, and it’s heartbreaking when it happens (especially for the price).
It is a beautiful formula, though! While it lasted. 🙁
do you live in a dry, humid, or in-between super warm climate? I want to try the Lisa Eldridge velvets soooo bad (this one might be at the top of my list) but I live in a place that is super hot and humid for parts of the year and so I wonder if I might have the same issue or if I could buy strategically to avoid snappage.
An excellent lipstick, though I would prefer it to have a satin, creamy finish. I think Mariella would like this shade.
I think you are right. Mariela and I have very similar taste and this is a color I love.
