Urban Decay SWF Eyeshadow
Urban Decay SWF Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “pale cotton candy pink shimmer with silver micro-glitter.” It’s a pale, light-medium pink with a frosted finish and, supposedly, silver micro-glitter. NARS Bouthan is a matte version, and it runs a bit cooler. Urban Decay Heartless has a smoother finish and is slightly gray-tinged, but the two are similar–it was actually what prompted me to see if I could get my hands on SWF for comparison! Chanel Harmonie du Soir #4 is warmer. MAC Love Power is more metallic. bareMinerals Giddy is matte and yellower. Inglot #431 is more metallic in finish but similar in color (though the reflective sheen makes it appear somewhat lighter at certain angles).
I could see the micro-glitter in the pan, but it didn’t translate when I swatched it on my skin or later on when I applied it to the eye. This is great with respect to application and wear, because I didn’t have any issues with fall out–I could not find the bits of silver glitter, period! It does mean that there’s some missing “pigment,” since it’s not translating at all. So, if you wanted glitter, you’re out of luck, and if you didn’t, you may, in fact, escape unscathed. The texture is soft, buttery, and dense; it applied smoothly and evenly, and it adhered really well. I had no trouble having it last a full nine hours without creasing or fading (no primer). It was a cinch to blend, and the color applied opaque without having to pack it on.

This color isn’t for me, but I’m glad the quality is there.
I really liked it paired with neutrals – I don’t normally love light pinks!
*gush* prettyyyyyy!
It is!
Gorgeous! It reminds me of pink freeze by Mac! I wonder how/if similar they are?
I think Pink Freeze might be a bit darker – definitely grittier/less pigmented.
I love this- will definitely check it out! I love the look you did with it as well- more shadows added to my list! I am a sucker for a nice neutral:)
Thanks, Genevieve! 🙂 It did really well with neutrals!
How does this compare to Magic from the UD glinda palette?
I believe Magic is pinker!
Anyone have tips for using a non shimmer pink on lids without making it look too outlandish??
Thanks!
Ps. I love this color!!!!
Pair it with browns or beiges – will always take the edge off!
Ooo I’m into this shadow, it’s so gorgeous and I love a good neutral, but I’m afraid it’d disappear on me since I’m quite fair and pink-toned! Any pale people have input on this?
I think it might get lost against your skin tone – but I think it would depend also on what you wore it with!
I like this on its own, but I *love* it with the neutrals. That’s just gorgeous.
It works well, surprisingly – and this time, didn’t look too much like Neapolitan ice cream!
I swatched this one day in Ulta (waiting inside due to rain) before the reformulation and loved it. It was so soft! I was afraid if I pressed too hard, the shadow might have broken or been damaged. So pretty! I still like the look of it now. Might have to buy it. As for the movie, that was a weird one lol.
Can’t say I’ve seen the movie, lol, and maybe I’ll keep it that way!
HOW do you make a light pink like that look so gorgeous!!! I was all “pink..no way” until I saw the completed look. Same thing happened with the Glinda palette, I was like “nope” until I saw the look it made, then had to go get it. 🙁
Aww, thank you, Janeen!
So I ended up getting it 🙂 And it paired with neutrals is awesome! Can’t wait to test run it tomorrow.
Oh, wow! I have an old SWF (from before the reformulation), and it sounds completely different from what you’ve described — the glitter in mine only gets more bold when worn, and don’t even get me started on the fallout!
I don’t need another cotton candy pink in my stash, but I might just have to check this one out to see if I can spot the difference. If not… what; do your eyes eat glitter when you’re not paying attention? 😛
LOL! You have to let me know. Because I couldn’t even find any when I just swatched it on my arm. I was like, “Wait, aren’t you a glitter-bomb?”
So pretty! Especially LOVE the look you created! I might have to dig through my makeup collection tomorrow to see if I have any similar pinks, so I can try a similar look myself 😀
I have this color, I love it. Its great with my brown eyes and fair skin. I also love Scratch and Snatch a little bit darker pinks.
I’m so in love with this?
