Estee Lauder Aubergine Dream Pure Color Envy Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Aubergine Dream
Estee Lauder Aubergine Dream Pure Color Envy Luxe Eyeshadow Quad (Refill) ($44.00 for 0.21 oz.) includes two matte eyeshadows and two shimmery eyeshadows, but they were all underwhelming in quality–surprisingly powdery, prone to fallout, and seemed to fade faster than most powder eyeshadows I’ve experienced. I don’t know how they messed up the pink-coral shade so badly!

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" with "stay-true color" that won't smudge, crease, or settle into fine lines and doesn't "flake or dust onto face." The quality of the more matte shades was typically higher than the shimmer shades, but all of the finishes seeme to be particularly short-wearing and made it seem like my lids "ate" the eyeshadows quite quickly.
Some of the shimmers were drier and thinner, which resulted in uneven application and some fallout, particularly with the more sparkly shades. The matte eyeshadows were more pigmented and smoother on average but still were on the thinner side with slight to moderate powderiness, which resulted in light fallout and/or the color sheering out too readily on bare skin.

What a shame it performed so poorly. The colors are beautiful.
Dreadful in the quality department! Shocking that any of these EL quads made it past their R&D folks at all. Thank goodness for ND Retro Midi and the ABH Rose Metals palette coming my way Tuesday to quench this desire for rosy eye looks.
It could have been quite a beautiful quad, as the shades had that perfect balance between light and dark in that soft aubergine shade. I just can’t believe how a brand like EL could have messed that one up so badly.
Too bad, those colors are really pretty. Seems like all of these Estée Lauder palettes have been terrible! What is going on over there??!
The new formula is just that bad! 🙁
Such pretty shades…too bad the quality is so poor.
D for dreadful? D for disappointing? These aren’t colours I’m drawn to but still – how does something this bad actually make it to the cosmetic counter? And this isn’t a $5.99 palette (though I don’t like to waste even small amounts of money) – this is a pricier product and so bad.
Who wants to spend this level of cash on frustration.
Did they find these forgotten in a dumpster since the 80s in an old warehouse and decide to release those as brand new ones? I can’t find any other explanation for such sad quality.
And you know it has to be REALLY bad when even all the customer reviews are harsh!
