NARS Golshan Satin Lip Pencil Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Golshan Satin Lip Pencil ($25.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “spiced wine.” It’s a subtly warm-toned, brown-ish red with a creamy, satiny finish. OCC Starling is warmer, browner. MAC Camden Chic is darker, browner. Make Up For Ever #44 is a touch less warm-toned.

The one characteristic that is most consistent among the new Lip Pencils is the color payoff! Golshan is no exception as it delivers full, rich pigmentation and covers my lip freckle entirely (not even a shadow of it comes through). I love the lightweight, thin consistency once it is applied to lips, because it doesn’t look heavy, despite the creamy, opaque color. It doesn’t cling or settle into lip lines, but it doesn’t slide around, either. When I touched the pencil tip to my lips, it felt soft, melted almost, but it was quite clearly not, and on, the glossiness fades in seconds to a satin finish–as promised. I wish these were as full of hydration as they’re made out to be (sorry, but my lips did not feel “[drenched] in decadent moisture”), but after the six hours it lasted for, my lips were no worse for the wear–at best, lightly hydrating but not a formula I’d say is moisturizing overall.

WOW. I’ve never been bold enough to rock a red lipstick, but this is gooooorrrgeous! Ahhh… I like all of these shades so far, but would hate to spend that much and know some would be wasted during sharpening. I suppose I could melt it into a pot and use a lip brush, huh?

I’ll have to mull it over.

If you freeze the pencils before hand, there’s less waste when sharpening. Just stick them in the freezer anywhere from 20 min up before you sharpen. There won’t be *no* waste, but it’s better than sharpening them normally. HTH!

This was one of the few I was interested in based on the swatch, but after seeing it applied, it isn’t for me. It’s just too orange. Oh, well… money saved, LOL.

I have noticed the same thing in Nars lipstick that you mentioned, about the lip pencil; Nars lip products look creamy, but go on thin and very lightweight. It’s a really great quality in a lipstick or pencil. This one is a beautiful color

Oh my goodness this is gorgeous!! I don’t wear reds all that often (usually not in the daytime) but still, I am very tempted by this
