Huda Beauty Jaguar Wild Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Jaguar
Huda Beauty Jaguar Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette ($29.00 for 0.45 oz.) is a new, smokier color story that included four matte eyeshadows and five shimmer eyeshadows. I felt like the colors worked well together with the exception of the gold (#3), which seemed oddly warm-toned compared to other shades in the palette.
The majority of the eyeshadows were pigmented, blendable, and easy to work with, though there was one shimmer shade that was sheerer and worked more as a topper/iridescent layer of shine and sparkle (which I know some enjoy!).

Jaguar #1
Jaguar #1 has a medium-dark, slightly warmed-up taupe base with lighter, grayish-taupe shimmer and sparkle that yielded an intensely metallic finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, almost cream-powder consistency that wasn’t overly dense, so it picked up well with a dry brush but could certainly be intensified with a wet brush. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Jaguar #2 is a light-medium taupe with cool, purplish undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and blended out well, though it sheered out slightly and had to be built up for fuller coverage. It had a soft, lightly powdery texture that was thin but not difficult to use. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Jaguar #5
Jaguar #5 seemed to have a grayish, slightly translucent base packed full with multi-dimensional shimmer that gave it a purplish-black appearance with pops of pink and silver sparkle. It had medium color coverage, which didn’t really build up, but the effect was shiny and sparkly so for some, that might work just fine. The consistency was lightly emollient, which helped a lot of the shimmer/sparkle adhere and minimized fallout. It wore decently for eight hours with light fallout over time.

Jaguar #9
Jaguar #9 is a darker, warm plum base with flecks of lighter purple and greenish-gold micro-sparkle throughout. The eyeshadow had mostly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin with slight fallout during the initial application. The texture was moderately dense, not overly firm or too thick, and picked up evenly with a dry brush. I would recommend using a dampened brush to get a smoother, more even layer of product that wasn’t prone to fallout, though. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

I have and love this palette! It’s gorgeous! Love what you did with the gold even though it doesn’t seem to fit…it’s perfect on the lower lash line. :o)
Thank you! When in doubt, throw it on the lower lash line!
Ooooh – this got good marks pretty much all ’round. I have both Celebrate in Gold and New Look (Dior) for duping the shades I’m most drawn to and I probably have dupes for all the others I like best but I think I am going to treat myself to this beauty.
Oooh! Very nice 🙂
I just ordered this (I was hoping it was in stock at my local Sephora but, alas, no). The good news is it will be here the day after tomorrow, which ain’t too shabby! I’m actually very excited!
I thought this one would score well! I haven’t had a chance to try it on my eyes yet, but I can’t wait.
Hope you love yours, Celesta!
I like this a lot. It screams fall to me! I kind of wish it didn’t have #7, that peach shade and instead had a silvery beige or maybe a soft silver. But I’m intrigued by this palette.
Will it be something that you’ll have on your wish list, Lune?
I loved this from the swatches, but your look is GORGEOUS!
Thank you, Jess!
Wow, these swatches are really selling me on the palette, even the lower rated super sparkly shades! This reminds me of the Melt Mary Jane palette except it leans purple rather than green and the quality looks better.
It is a nicer cooler-toned palette! There are so few, lol!
Bought this just over a week ago, and am just waiting for the perfect occasion (or mood!) to put this kitty to full use! It looks like the purrfect smokey eye palette for my blue-green eyes, too!
Woohoo! Hope the mood strikes you soon!
I’ve had this in and out of my basket a number of times.. I finally convinced myself to pass, but there has been no joy in that. I will wait to pick more tempting fruit from the vine….
Wow. Attempting a no-buy phase ( just selling!) … But… This email subscription is the death of me! I could not figure out a way to duplicate those shimmers from my pretty decent collection… Just purchased. Very excited I love every single color. I will use them all! And that eye look, it’s just right up my alley. Honestly if you hadn’t put it in there I might’ve just kept scrolling by… love you/hate-ish you….
Lol.
Wow – this is gorgeous and I do love those taupe shades. I do agree that shades 1 & 6 are fairly similar to each other and I do wish that another shade had been chosen instead of the matte black or even the peach shade. But still it is lovely and your eye look sensational Christine.
Oh this looks great! I actually like all the colors!
Same! And how often does it happen that you like every colour in a palette? For me, there is usually at least one shade I’ll never use but not with this one.
That’s beautiful ! I may be sold on getting at least Jaguar from this collection.
I was so tempted. But I have plenty of purples and mauves and don’t reach for them like I used to. I guess I like the idea of those colors more than how they look on me.
I took out my Lila palette this morning to try and get inspired but it didn’t happen.
As intriguing as this release was, and as beautiful the look you created, it’s a pass for me. Sniff.
Thank you, Valerie!
When Huda first issued the Obsessions eye palettes I picked up Topaz, but promptly returned it because the formula was so thin and dry. I really didn’t like it at all. Consquently I sort of vowed to steer clear of this brand. Are you saying that this newest iteration is a huge improvement? I LOVE a cool-toned palette, and given the massive hole in the market for cool-toned eyeshadow palettes, I am very keen on this one!
I thought the first few iterations of the Obsessions palettes were good but later options were more inconsistent. I’d say these are better than some of the recent iterations, but it’s still a thinner formula for the mattes.
This arrived yesterday and I am so delighted with it. #2 is the type of colour I use almost every day for subtle crease definition. #1 and 6 are amazing as “all over the lid” shades or for the outer corner. Even that sheer topper shade you talked about (I’m guessing it’s #5) looks lovely on the center of my lids and so far I’ve not experienced fallout. I could happily have done without the black shade (who doesn’t have more than enough black eyeshadow?) but I do like it pressed in with a push type brush at my lash line. Everything about this little palette is wonderful.
Hmm. I was intrigued by this color story when it was announced but I wasn’t too sure about the colors, since they looked more taupe-ish than purple, but the way you have photographed it, Christine, makes it very tempting (along with the decent review). I’m on a low-buy, so I might add this to my Christmas wish list or wait for it to go on sale.
I’m excited to finally see a unique colour story! I feel like everything is just repeats these days, and while im sure I have these colours in other palettes they aren’t all together in one.
