How do you incorporate current trends into your routine?

I definitely end up doing so based on trying and testing out more new products than old standbys, so they pretty much incorporate themselves.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Years ago I was walking around with a beaming highlight, contour, bronzer and blush. I caught myself from the side in a mirror and…..lesson learned. Absolutely nothing wrong it, it just wasn’t “me”. I think that was the shift for me as far as trends dictating how I wear my makeup vs. my preferences and being selective about trends to try.

I see trends as fleeting and don’t really consider adding them to my routine as they typically don’t fit with (or add value to) my aesthetic.

I’m not much on social media anymore but I am definitely still affected by trends in as much as what I see available in stores and online! Blush seems to be big with all these releases and of course lipstick coming back has been great. I find myself wearing mostly blush and lipstick with just some mascara, which I think is definitely related to how many people are wearing their makeup now.
I’ve been happy with the lighter makeup that seems to be more the norm now, and of course now that it’s summer I’ve been wearing bright glossy lips! Being mask-free more and more often has been a great opportunity to pull out my favorites.

I usually don’t follow trends, I keep to the colors and techniques I already know work for me.
But if I do, it’s always a slightly modified version, I only try one thing at a time, and preferably on a day few people see me (in case things go wrong); which in the last year and a half mostly working from home, wasn’t that hard. 😅

Uh, that’s a good question. Since I’m someone who basically either just wears what goes with their mood or what I’m wearing, trends with color don’t exactly play any role. At least not usually.
As for application techniques or types of products (intense vs softer highlighters), I do tend to go with the flow if I like the look of it on myself.

It’s often an organic thing, and I’m not a super trendy person, but I try to keep from being totally outdated. I’ll pick out trendy colors I like from my stash, or buy if I need to. I watch YouTube, occasionally look at IG or Pinterest, and belong to Phyrra’s FB beauty group, so I get exposure to new things II might try. I never go for a face full of trends.

I don’t think I do? At least not intentionally. The kinds of trends in application and looks that I often see require skills usually far more developed than mine so any connection to trends is more about colors or textures than anything else.
