ColourPop Hot Fuss Cheek Dew Serum Blush Review & Swatches
Hot Fuss
ColourPop Hot Fuss Cheek Dew Serum Blush ($7.00 for 0.48 oz.) is a brighter, medium red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a soft sheen. It had sheer color coverage, which was somewhat buildable to semi-sheer to medium coverage, though it was difficult to get an even application of product that was diffused and blended out along the edges.
The formula just seemed far too slippery and runny, and while it dried down, it took awhile and was still slippery to the point where the color was more likely to slide and get pushed around then to blend evenly. There were always slight patches–even with my best attempt–where I could see the color had lifted up (when I used a fingertip) or bristle marks.
The dry down wasn’t tacky, and it didn’t seem to slide around too much during wear and was more prone to fading around the six-hour mark. I tried so many different ways to apply it to my skin, and there was not one truly successful attempt. It was particularly prone to lifting up foundation, so it was best over bare skin only (which wasn’t great!).

Formula Overview
$7.00/0.48 oz. - $14.58 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "buildable coverage" with a "hint" of dewiness that can be applied with fingertips, sponge, or a duo fiber brush and is recommended to be applied prior to powder products.
The consistency was very fluid, and while it was sheerer by the nature of the fluidity of the formulation, you didn't need to squeeze out that much to get going. I would recommend squeezing out a bit on the back of your hand and gently rubbing it in a small circle using a fingertip, then applying to your face. This helped the product spread out and be the perfect level of tackiness to apply to bare skin or on top of foundation/base products without lifting them up. They had sheer to semi-sheer, buildable coverage.
They don't fully dry down, so the finish remained noticeably dewy (as the name might imply), and it didn't have the best wear (around six hours for better-performing shades), but the products faded evenly and didn't slide around/down my face.

What a mess – you could easily end up looking like a clown with that formula – and getting it all over yourself too. It’s an unnecessary product from CP – their powder blushes are generally very good and they should stick to that.
But it will still get five stars on the CP site…..🤣🤣🤣
Ikr?!? All the legit reviews will be snuffed out.
Well, poop. 🙁 I was actually looking forward to these, and hoping they’d be the thing to finally make me do another ColourPop order! (Which I have not done for years, because half their stuff lately has been either extremely lackluster performance-wise or simply not interesting to me, and/or sells out immediately.)
Gosh, this is such a disappointment. The bright red it comes out as is so pretty. But hearing how unmanageable the formula is…Colourpop really has fallen.
Hot Fuss is more like a hot mess! It sounds so gloppity gloopy and kinda gross. Yuck!
Sometimes I will see swatch or makeup pictures here and be surprised the product earns a poor review because it looked so nice!
This was not one of those times.
I don’t understand why don’t they just restock the blush stix instead. Oh well, money saved.
Wow. These aren’t needed when Glossier Cloud Paint exists. Worth paying a bit more for quality and they will last forever.
1000% agree. Cloud paint rules them all
Well, the colour itself is kinda pretty (but you’d sure have to use a light hand). Seems that these just aren’t doing well at all….
Makeup revolution just released something similar but I hope is better because I love liquid blush formulas.
Dang. F’s across the board for ColourPop’s Cheek Dews. Was thinking they’d be an affordable alternative to Glossier and EM Cosmetics. Cheek Dew? More like Cheek Disappointment.
Or Cheek Don’t. ;D
